<p>
	Hi there, I put my Japan market 2006 540i in to get coded to get NZ radio frequencies, and to fix (again) the key fob (replacement battery was faulty), but I was in a hurry to get back to work after I left the workshop so didn't get the chance to test the radio until now. So when I try to select FM or AM they are greyed out, and Aux in and TV are the only available sources. The service guy mentioned he also re-coded the near new car battery as the sales yard I bought it from had installed the new battery *without* coding it to the car. Before I head back to the service guy asking WTF he did <em>is there something else I need to do to activate FM radio from the source selector</em>? I get the feeling the service guy has coded the battery *after* coding the radio, thereby <strong><em>undoing</em></strong> all his good work with the radio - I can only assume he tested the radio after doing the coding.
</p>

<p>
	Any suggestions as to what to do?
</p>

<p>
	Cheers.

	Hi

<p>
	Pixels on the professional model have died, can just make some out first thing i the morning. This seems to be common and looks like a simple job to replace the screen

<p>
	Anybody know of a local (NZ) source for the LCD screen, or recommend any of the numerous overseas suppliers?

	Many thanks

	Finally solved my annoying radio issues in my e39 M5 (I had been down several dead ends with diversity amps etc etc...).  The FM radio was crap.  Bought a BM54 module to replace the BM53 (which seems to have been replaced once already) out of a 2007 X5.  Naturally it has a few more features which is good, but it is great to have a "normal" radio once again....

<p style="background-color:#ffffff;color:#383838;font-size:14px;">
	Hi there,
</p>

<p style="background-color:#ffffff;color:#383838;font-size:14px;">
	Currently looking at options for adding an aux functionality to my 2001 E39 and the GROM units have caught my attention. I want to keep the stock head unit but am getting tired of listening to the same CDs/radio. I know to add an aux function to the standard setup requires a head unit with a build date post 09/2002, and my car being a 2001 won't have the right one.
</p>

<p style="background-color:#ffffff;color:#383838;font-size:14px;">
	Has anyone had any experience with these GROM units? Are they compatible with a pre 09/2002 head unit? The GROM website seems to think they work with all model years, and I have emailed them to check this to which they confirmed. Also with installation, does anyone have any experience with this sort of thing?
</p>

<p style="background-color:#ffffff;color:#383838;font-size:14px;">
	Here's a link to what I'm looking at:  <a href="https://gromaudio.com/store/aux1_adapters/bmw_mini_98-05_auxiliary_adapter_kit_-_behind_the_radio.html" rel="external nofollow" style="background-color:transparent;color:#0088ff;">https://gromaudio.com/store/aux1_adapters/bmw_mini_98-05_auxiliary_adapter_kit_-_behind_the_radio.html</a>

<p style="background-color:#ffffff;color:#383838;font-size:14px;">
	Any advice is greatly appreciated.

<p>Just installed factory Bluetooth Handfree / Voice control to my Jap Import 2002 E39 530i Touring. Thouight I'd post a few pics and discoveries here, as I know there are others interested in doing this.</p>
<p>
Firstly, after a couple of months email discussions with www.bimmernav.com, and help from Grant ( Hotwire ) it was decided the best route for a Ex Japan car was to buy the kit that assumes the car has no pre-wiring - even though my car had Japanese phone unit - as none of the Japanese kit is helpful, and is all discarded !!</p>
<p>
Here is the Japanese Phone Box - Under the black plastic cover on the lefthand side of the wheel well</p>
<p>
<a class="ipsAttachLink ipsAttachLink_image" href="http://bimmersport.co.nz/uploads/monthly_06_2011/post-2173-1308100552.jpg" rel="external nofollow"><img src="http://bimmersport.co.nz/uploads/monthly_06_2011/post-2173-1308100552.jpg" data-fileid="%7B___base_url___%7D/applications/core/interface/file/attachment.php?id=37027" class="ipsImage ipsImage_thumbnailed" alt="post-2173-1308100552.jpg" /></a></p>
<p>
Next step is to remove the Nav Computer and Amplifier from the Lefthand side of the car ( and the CD changer if you have one - mine is removed for DICE unit already ) </p>
<p>
Behind that is the large opaque white connector that BMW calls X400</p>
<p>
<a class="ipsAttachLink ipsAttachLink_image" href="http://bimmersport.co.nz/uploads/monthly_06_2011/post-2173-1308100716.jpg" rel="external nofollow"><img src="http://bimmersport.co.nz/uploads/monthly_06_2011/post-2173-1308100716.jpg" data-fileid="%7B___base_url___%7D/applications/core/interface/file/attachment.php?id=37028" class="ipsImage ipsImage_thumbnailed" alt="post-2173-1308100716.jpg" /></a></p>
<p>
Bimmernav supplied a new loom that takes place of the Japanese ( if present ) plug, and has the correct plug on the other end for the ULF module, as the Jap plug, although similar, is wired completely differently.</p>
<p>
The Bimmernav loom had a 3pin connector for the microphone, but I could not find the compatible plug in the rear of the car, so I traced the Japanese loom and spliced into it for the microphone.</p>
<p>
As my car has the CD changer removed already, I decided to mount the ULF on the plate the CD changer previously mounted to - I removed the Jap box beside the wheel well, so I could also have put it there I guess, but the position I choose already had a screw for securing it.</p>
<p>
<a class="ipsAttachLink ipsAttachLink_image" href="http://bimmersport.co.nz/uploads/monthly_06_2011/post-2173-1308100901.jpg" rel="external nofollow"><img src="http://bimmersport.co.nz/uploads/monthly_06_2011/post-2173-1308100901.jpg" data-fileid="%7B___base_url___%7D/applications/core/interface/file/attachment.php?id=37029" class="ipsImage ipsImage_thumbnailed" alt="post-2173-1308100901.jpg" /></a></p>
<p>
And a closer View</p>
<p>
<a class="ipsAttachLink ipsAttachLink_image" href="http://bimmersport.co.nz/uploads/monthly_06_2011/post-2173-1308100935.jpg" rel="external nofollow"><img src="http://bimmersport.co.nz/uploads/monthly_06_2011/post-2173-1308100935.jpg" data-fileid="%7B___base_url___%7D/applications/core/interface/file/attachment.php?id=37030" class="ipsImage ipsImage_thumbnailed" alt="post-2173-1308100935.jpg" /></a></p>
<p>
Bluetooth Antenna was screwed under the spare wheel cover.</p>
<p>
<a class="ipsAttachLink ipsAttachLink_image" href="http://bimmersport.co.nz/uploads/monthly_06_2011/post-2173-1308101574.jpg" rel="external nofollow"><img src="http://bimmersport.co.nz/uploads/monthly_06_2011/post-2173-1308101574.jpg" data-fileid="%7B___base_url___%7D/applications/core/interface/file/attachment.php?id=37032" class="ipsImage ipsImage_thumbnailed" alt="post-2173-1308101574.jpg" /></a></p>
<p>
The Bimmernav loom had a pairing button patched onto it, plus they supplied a new centre consule box with a pairing button, which I will trace a couple of wires from the Jap Loom at a later date, but for now I paired my iPhone 4 with the patched button, and hey presto, the address book from my iPhone uploaded to the car ....</p>
<p>
<a class="ipsAttachLink ipsAttachLink_image" href="http://bimmersport.co.nz/uploads/monthly_06_2011/post-2173-1308101079.jpg" rel="external nofollow"><img src="http://bimmersport.co.nz/uploads/monthly_06_2011/post-2173-1308101079.jpg" data-fileid="%7B___base_url___%7D/applications/core/interface/file/attachment.php?id=37031" class="ipsImage ipsImage_thumbnailed" alt="post-2173-1308101079.jpg" /></a></p>
<p>
So,</p>
<p>
I am stoked ! Sure there are cheaper options out there, but I prefer to have the OEM system, and it works really well, I also updated the microphone to the 2004+ version and it is nice and clear.</p>
<p>
Voice control took a wee bit to get used to - it did not like my NZ accent for a start, but as most commands have 2 versions of what can be asked, one of them works !</p>
<p>
I had previously updated the NAV to MKIV and NZ disc, and the voice control also works some of those functions!</p>
<p>
You can store phone numbers by voice and recall them later by saying ' Dial Name' and speaking the name !!</p>
<p>
The steering wheel controls work perfectly, and allow you to scroll thru the address book using the upper display.</p>
<p>
You can also store and retrieve voice notes to yourself, which I find handy, as I do a lot of my thinking while driving back to the workshop after jobs <img src="http://bimmersport.co.nz/uploads/emoticons/default_smile.png" alt=":)" srcset="http://bimmersport.co.nz/uploads/emoticons/smile@2x.png 2x" width="21" height="21" /></p>
<p>
I am happy to help anybody with any answers I can provide if needed.</p>

	So I hate having cables everywhere and i equally hate a messy centre console storage bin. Having successfully code Apps 6NR and purchased an iPod touch to drive it all my next mession was to find a way to clean up the console. I made some slight modifications to the snap-in adaptor base plate with my dremel, mounted the iPod cable, routed it along all the existing wiring abd out ubder the piece of plastic that houses the snap-in. The result is a much cleaner, less cluttered centre console bin.

<p>
	My 6-er has combox and connected drive etc, but was not ordered with Apps (option SA6NR). BimmerTech and the like charge upwards of $399 US to do this retrofit...but BMW is willing to do an official retrofit for $680 NZ. That includes the FSC code from BMW and coding.
</p>

<p>
	Seems like only a couple of $$$ difference, BUT doing it through BMW means that your car's VIN is updated on the master database and you don't run the risk of your retrofit apps being wiped if your car's software is update in the future.
</p>

<p>

	Not often I can make a contribution without asking but here goes.
</p>

<p>
	Purchased a NZ new 2005 e60 530d with a CCC MASK Idrive system in it with the 6 disc changer, unfortunately it didn't come optioned with bluetooth nor could you easily retrofit aux.
</p>

<p>
	Options were: Dension Gateway 500s for a small fortune, or

</p>

<p>
	I was a bit hesitant when it arrived, did plenty of research that indicated i'd need to code in MP3 and enable the MASK system to see the new functionality.
</p>

<p>
	Turned out, hooked into the cd changer 12v, plugged up the fibre connection and after a couple of minutes for it to recognise the new functionality i had spotify working over bluetooth, aux in, and although it didnt show it in the communication screen it allowed me to answer a bluetooth phone call. No coding necessary. Although it just shows CD1,2,3 etc instead of the track names/artists, but the steering wheel functions work just like factory.
</p>

<p>
	Not bad for $200 landed either.

	Hi all, my key fob battery was replaced by a company in Christchurch called Auto Scanning Solutions; while I was there I asked if the guy did recoding on iDrive units to change to NZ radio frequencies etc, and he said yes - will cost around $80 which I think is reasonable.
</p>

<p>
	When I drop the car in to get that done is there any other re-coding that I could get done while its in there? Radio is the main thing I'm after, I'm not sure if TV can be changed (hard-coded NTSC tuner?) or whether navigation or other things can be changed... if anyone has suggestions as to other things apart from radio that could be changed, your feedback is most welcome. <span class="ipsEmoji">😀</span>

	For practical reasons I no longer have the sub and want to know if I can just feed some rear 6x9's from the existing amp? I assume it's using 1 channel for each L+R front (?) and bridging two channels for the sub? If so could I split that bridge and feed two rear tray speakers?

		Some good cable

</ul><p>
	Or would I have other things to consider? I'm also thinking only 2-way might be best for the rear to keep the higher frequencies forward?
</p>

<p>
	Thanks.

<p>
	Edit: this is how little I know about audio - I drove around happy with the sounds in my car for 3 months and later, 1 min after my DJ friend sat in the car for the first time, he diagnosed my sub as out-of-phase. We swapped over the cables and he was satisfied... I couldn't tell the difference lol. <span class="ipsEmoji">🤣</span><span class="ipsEmoji">🤣</span><span class="ipsEmoji">🤣</span>

My question is, would it be possible to connect a single din head unit so that it would work under the CD source?
</p>

<p>
	The reason I want to do this is because I have a head unit that I can connect and control my iPod to. I don’t listen to Cd’s anymore so I don’t see the point in having a CD player and a CD stacker.

<p>
	Any advice would be appreciated.

	hi guys, i looked around and searched around pretty much everywhere but i couldnt find a definite answer. i have the base audio system in my e60, and i want to install the focal ifbmw-s replacement speakers but i dont know if they fit or require adapters. called up rapid radio, they said they will make it work for me for 900 bucks+ but i think thats a tad bit expensive.
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	rang up hyperdrive, they charge much less labor but the guys there said the focals wont fit the e60 and they recommended me the rockford fosgate bmw3 t3 kit instead.
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	anyone installed focals in their cars could shed the light on this matter? thanks!

	Hey Guys
</p>

<p>
	I have a 2008 135i  (Jap Import) with the old CCC iDrive. I want to update my car so i get bluetooth audio, and navigation. I was looking at getting this installed - <a href="https://www.hyperdrive.co.nz/product/92405/pioneer-avh-z7150bt-apple-carplay-android-auto-head-unit" rel="external nofollow">https://www.hyperdrive.co.nz/product/92405/pioneer-avh-z7150bt-apple-carplay-android-auto-head-unit</a>
</p>

<p>
	Only issue would be when the screen pops up im assuming itll cover the aircon controls.
</p>

<p>
	What have other people done to bring NZ Nav to their car and update the media system?

<p>
	Hey team, thinking of getting a Bavsound set-up for F11 but from what I can see they only ship within the US and there is no dealer in NZ (the nearest one is over the ditch).
</p>

<p>
	Of course I can get it shipped via Youshop but at this stage I am just trying to avoid that option. Any other ideas?

<p>With the help of AK330i's post, <a href="http://bimmersport.co.nz/topic/6327-how-to-reprogram-jap-bmw-radio-to-nz-frequencies/?p=492117" rel="">http://bimmersport.co.nz/topic/6327-how-to-reprogram-jap-bmw-radio-to-nz-frequencies/?p=492117</a> I have successfully coded the CCC iDrive in my Japanese imported 05 E61 530i as below...</p>
<p>Changed these settings with NCS-Expert:</p>
<p>CTUNE before:</p>
<p>RDS_AF_FUNKTION_CCC (RDS is the bit that shows the name of the station on the screen)<br /> rds_aus<br />LAENDERVARIANTE_TUNER_ANT<br /> japan</p>
<p>CTUNE after:</p>
<p>RDS_AF_FUNKTION_CCC<br /> rds_ein_af_automatisch<br />LAENDERVARIANTE_TUNER_ANT<br /> ece</p>
<p>CAPPL before:</p>
<p>LAENDERVARIANTE_TUNER<br /> japan</p>
<p>CAPPL after:</p>
<p>LAENDERVARIANTE_TUNER<br /> ece</p>
<p>There's this setting too, but not sure it's needed (I didn't use it the first time):</p>
<p>CHOST before:</p>
<p>LAENDERVARIANTE_GT<br /> japan</p>
<p>CHOST after:</p>
<p>LAENDERVARIANTE_GT<br /> ece</p>
<p>There is probably an oceania, aus/nz alternative to ece but ece works none the less.</p>
<p>I was pretty happy with myself once complete, however, a few days later I installed and coded a new battery, and it blew out the hard work above and reverted back to Japanese frequencies. So can anyone please tell me what changes I need to make to the Vehicle Order to make these things stick? There isn't a lot online about getting these Japanese imports to play ball...</p>
<p>Cheers,<br />Duncan</p>

	Hi Guys,
</p>

<p>
	On an E39 does the head-unit on the 16:9 Nav unit connect directly to the aerial booster on the C pillar or is signal received via one of the units in the boot? Trying to diagnose why I have no am/fm signal.
</p>

<p>
	My E39 used to have a dynavin installed but was removed, now I've refitted the factory unit....Would or does the dynavin install usually involve cutting into the aerial connection somewhere I can check?
</p>

<p>
	Cheers,
