Hey guys

Before I drop around $700 on recaro rails/sliders for both sides, has anyone got another solution or suggestions to install Recaro SR-7 reclineables in an E46 M3?

I've tried the NZKW / Scarles mount frames and even though they are universal they don't fit with these Recaros.

Is anyone here good with fabricating a pair?

	Cheers

Hey so i thought I'd share my latest retrofit project. Couple of my mates have f8X m cars after seeing the seats i wondered if they fit the e92. I couldn't find any info or even pictures on google. After acquiring some from a damaged f80 i got to work trying to fit them.

At first i was pleased to find they bolted directly in. I swapped the connectors from f80-e92. With only 5 wires(power, canbus, lighting). It was easy to swap. The car did not like the f80 seat module at all and quickly rejected it. Because of the can protocol between the chassis. And with the canbus connection removed the wake up signal was no longer being conveyed and after 10sec the seat shut down.

Luckily the passenger seat was simply a high current switch. All worked as it should except the heated seats. Using the e92 seat module i use it to simply work the heated seats instead of all other seat functions it used too.

After playing around it was looking as though it would not be possible aside from a can emulator that would relay the wake up signal. However this isn't easy. I was running out of ideas. I brought a very cheap pair of seats from a x1 at first for parts but then noticed it used the same style of connectors as the f80 but the car was only a 2010. Part of a total fluke i tested the module out and to my surprise it worked. It was enough to makes the seat stay awake however no heated seats because the x1 seats weren't heated. After that i was stoked and immediately sourced the heated version of the same module which worked perfectly.

Only last remaining problem is because they were from a 4 door the seats do not release forward which is a problem in a 2 door so ill order the parts and try convert them😂

a couple of you already know I did a stupid while moving house last week and left a bag of frozen goods in the back of the old beema. This little surprise knocked me to the floor when i opened up the garage-queen a week later, preparing for a Saturday afternoon blat.

the affected area (thankfully) only appears to be the LH rear passenger seat, where the curdling mess has seeped below the seats and into the bottom of the foam/ under the rubber mats on this side.
The glorious Christian ( @CSET ) agreed to take a look and although his cleaning has made a MASSIVE difference, there still is a lot of smell coming from the seat unit. if it's unable to be rescued, i will resort to buying a new unit, but I'm much too stubborn to admit defeat just yet!

if anyone has any advice on ways to rid of the foul stench emanating from the Germans insides, please do speak out! I fear the longer I leave this issue un-resolved, the more likely CYF's will come knocking on my door.
THINGS DONE SO FAR:
removed rear seat
washed, cleaned and dried the curdling mess pooling beneath the rubber mat where the seats lie.
soaked, ringed, and further soaked the foam in a hot bath filled with washing powder for a good half day
half-removed the leather cover (the smelly section) to soak the foam, and later somehow clean (have wiped with heavily diluted washing powder and hot water, with no success)
coated the affected surfaces (including back of affected leather) in baking soda and let sit for 24hrs

I should note that the leather cover itself has not touched any contaminated water, i did wipe it down with a damp cloth however, dye had started to seep out so I quickly wiped it down and left it be.

	Hi all,

Looking into the Racetech RT1000 seat and from what I can see its a good option for me however at 185cm, I'm 5cm above the recommended height for the seat. Will this be an issue with a harness? Would be good to hear reviews.

Why BMW sells a quarter-million-dollar car without lumbar support is just beyond me. The sports seats are comfortable enough on short trips, but even an hour-long motorway commute in the morning can become a pain...no pun intended.

I have been researching doing a lumbar retrofit using BMW parts. The wiring and install are both super easy, and the lordosis pad and pump cheap enough to get on eBay, BUT the biggest obstacle is the lumbar control switch on the side of the seat. In previous generations, this used to be a separate switch so retrofitting it was easy. Now, however, it is integrated on the main PCB of the switch cluster, meaning you have to either buy a new switch cluster from BMW or find one on eBay. I have not been able to find any sports seat with lumbar switches at all. Only the basic one (like I have) or the full monty for the comfort seats (which interface with the car differently so not an option).

Now, there are plenty of manual lumbar pump solutions out there using little hand pumps and what not, but I know myself well enough to admit that this option simply won't do. So, after some searching and negotiation with an overseas manufacturer, I have ordered a lumbar and massage retrofit kit. Comes with:

 Air Pump

 Controller

 6 air pods for massage

 1 lumbar pad

 2 wired switches

 Power connector

Installation is a simple two-wire affair using an inline fuse, so no need to tap into the car's fuse relays. The cost of this kit is much less than retrofitting with used BMW parts, let alone new ones. I will update more on the progress once the kit arrives. If it passes muster I am considering importing a bunch of them for resale.

In the meantime, fed up with the lack of lumbar support I decided to install some padding today. I used an old yoga matt and installed between the seat cushion and wire-frame (exactly where the lumbar pad would be).

Old one was touching our heads on our way home from shopping on sunday so we decided to stop at spotlight and take a look at some materials....

In the end it wasnt my decision so we went home with a hugely marked down piece of fake white fur, approx 1.15x1.5m for $15, adding the price of 2 cans of spray adhesive and the whole job cost about $40.

It looks kind of odd... but it feels amazing 😆. The whole job took maybe 2.5 - 3 hours, a lot of that time was spent working out how to take interior apart and actually get the fiberglass out of the car in 1 piece.

Okay so i impulse bought this :

	https://www.aliexpress.com/item/MEWANT-for-BMW-E36-E46-E39-Black-Artificial-Leather-Car-Steering-Wheel-Cover-Interior-Accessories-Parts/32816504592.html?spm=a2g0s.9042311.0.0.pWyU3A

Then realised it wont fit my e36 steering wheel (same 3 spoke design less buttons).

So im just wondering if this shape wheel can be retrofitted into the e36 without much issue? Eg do the airbag plugs match... Im not worried about stereo controls, ill probably rig them up to do something else / try make them work with an aftermarket headunit.

I have seen people do the e39 button steering wheel retrofit to e36 so im assuming itl work...

Anyway if so i want to buy one! if anyone has one spare please lemme know 😏 And if it cant be retrofitted to e36, does anyone with this steering wheel wanna buy a cheap cover? (black stitching).

	Hi all,

Does anyone know of a good shop to repair some of the mechanical components inside my coupe drivers seat in Christchurch? I have the comfort seats at the moment, but some of the internal mechanisms are broken; The cloth is in good condition so I would prefer to get them repaired over trying to find and pay for a good condition coupe seat.

	Cheers!
