Its like someone tried to jam a I-Phone 6 cover on a Motorola StarTac. Or is a robot created by Honda. What ever it is, it must die.

O.k. So I have been grinding and welding and grinding and priming and painting. So I made enough clearance for the rims. I also put washers over the sleeve that is in the bottom shock mount bush (that's a mouthful, but I think accurate enough) Probably 4x2.5mm 22mm (internal) washers. I also have the 10mm spacers. So it all works most of the time. I got the hammer and heat gun out and did my best impression of someone who looks like they know what they are doing. It still scrapes slightly now and again in the back, much like how it did with the last set of wheels, so I can live with that. I will do some more fine hammering of the inner guard lip and I think it will be more than fine. So the back 2 for me at least are sorted. The fronts are going to be mega expensive when I change the inner barrels, so those have to wait! I haven't driven on it yet, so it hasn't settled in this pic, because this is a bit higher than normal. Not the best shot to show, but hey. They are on there! Rear specs: Wheels; Arrows 3 piece 17x11 ET22.5, with 10mm spacer effective ET 12.5. Tyres; 275/40-17.

Hi Guys, When I said "... in the BMW world" I meant made by BMW. But o.k. How about this, I have always loved this thing. It looks like thousands of dollars and thousands of man hours putting this thing together, and if you hear the thing on video, it's pretty wicked.

Sod's law. The car just failed its WOF on the excessive play in the right rear control arm... The one piece I can't just buy a bushing for. Going to be at least 4-6 weeks before I can get a replacement too which is a bummer. Hopefully in that time I can finish gather all the other bushings together and completely overhaul the rear suspension as planned... Just a bit ahead of schedule so the bank manager/wife won't be pleased.

I always liked this thing. Just thought a few picked out details to break up the black wouldn't have gone astray.

First attempt at some kind of hyper-miling in the e36 while away on an easter trip. Full tank of BP 98, on Thursday night. Refilled again today with 54.74L, which got me 690kms exactly. Comes to a real world fuel usage of 7.93 L/100km. Very impressed indeed, for a 2.8L sports car made in the 90s that I bought for $5000. According to the OBC. Not too much variation.

Blown head gaskets. Back pain. Lack of motivation after a long weekend. When you don't win a quote. When you know you would have won had you had time to invest. When the job was worth a lot of money. So now your sitting on bimmersport earning nothing.

Saw a MAN coach today that had headlights that looked EXACTLY like the facelift e39 headlights. Strange.

Cheers fellas, been a busy few weeks. Hoping to have all the body work finished and prepped for paint by the end of the month. Have also decided on the colour, going for the new BMW i8 blue/grey, but a little darker...

Highway clowns who just cannot see that moving left long before two lanes merge will allow the traffic to continue moving. Instead everyone races up the right hand lane and clogs everything up.

Yes, end of the day, nothing mechanical is service free (think ZF 'sealed for life' - a crock). But it seems some motors aren't as strong in the valvetrain as others - Falcon sohc and dohc 4.0 straight sixs will do over 1 million km without been opened up on original chain tensioner guides. I've also seen Commodore 3.8 V6 and 5.7 V8 pushrod over 500,000k unopened too. Then you get the early 2000s dohc Falcon V8s that had weak tensioners and would eventually wear out the guides causing chain rattle, within 100,000km. Personally I'd go for timing gears, the old Honda CBR250s will do over 100,000km no worries, while the ZXR/FZR timing chains will start to rattle around 30,000km. At work we can get 2 or 3 rebuilds to a 15 litre Cummins engine block, rebuild every 800,000km , and never had to replace a timing gear - 1.6m-2.4m km on original set of gears try doing that with a chain! As for the M62 issue, I've seen a few listed on TM saying the chain/tensioners/guides have been done, but didn't realise it was a common issue, a good excuse to go an E34 I reckon.

dont even get me started on dealers changing cambelts as cheap as possible and not doing waterpump and tensioners.... :|
