Why don't you tube frame the front of your Pajero, dual shocks, and add a couple steering dampeners while you're at it? Urethane bushes and standard control arms are old technology. Going with your approach here - "why bother". Turd, polish etc.

Ok so i was at the meet today which inspired me to make a thread for my new car So yesterday the 4/07/2015 i bought a new bmw after selling my vw golf mk3 gti the night before, so i upgraded to a 328i motorsport nz new e36 wagon thats done 210ks and been well looked after. its automatic which im fine with for now allways being in traffic on my way to work but i do for see a manual conversion coming in the future! the only defaults i can find are a few scratches few shopping trolley dents and a thin layer of clear coat which i can fix being a spraypainting apprentice, other than this the car is great condition for its age same year i was born! so without further adue i bring to you my wagon

Having completed 2 M70 v12 conversions into e34's, to keep costs down all electrics were used from the donor car to avoid the extra expense of aftermarket ecu's/ tuning etc. These involved a COMPLETE loom replacement (headlights - taillights and everything in between). Splicing into the existing E34 loom was more of a headache than gutting the entire shell and rewiring with donor loom. This is also the way Kayne Barrie did his E34 M70 conversion. The M73 donor (typically the e38 750iL) however has LOTS more wiring/gizmos/EWS which would make this route an even nicer challenge. I have done a fair bit of research into converting an M73 to run on the earlier M70 (Bosch) system, but unfortunately it is not as easy as the conversions Brent has done with the M62 - M60 Ecu's. The conclusion I came to was that the only really feasible way to run the M73 (without getting deep into electrickery and recoding of stuffs) was to run an aftermarket ECU. Which = more money plus tuning time (again more money) to get it running right. Car tinkerings have slowed a lot for me over the years as I have moved into bikes, I still have my V12 project sitting in a paddock waiting to bolt the 6speed manual box behind. Seeing topics like this and peoples opinions reminded me of when I was doing mine, pretty much everything repeated in this thread... maybe this is the inspiration I need to get mine back on the road. oh the fun of chasing people round the tracks in a dinosaur lounge suite. An E36 would have much better power to weight ratio but comes with extra challenges and I would suspect quite a bit more cost.

There is always going to be a better engine choice. Heck I'd love an LF-A V10 engine, but its not going to happen! Plenty of cheap good engines from the 90s to use, and because they're cheap at least it's achievable I say go for a M73 V12 5.4 It will be unique in a 3 series and go beautifully with over 320hp / 490nm. Mount it far back as possible and you'll have a great setup. To keep costs down the stock 5 speed auto will do the trick nicely too.

Loving Auckland house prices.... blown away at the offers on my property. Also. Loving being retired for the next few months or so... First time since I was 15 years old that I am unemployed. Going to the gym at 9am when there are no f**kwit grunters there looking at my pathetic lifts and scoffing. Kabab place up the road that makes me a chicken Salad every night. But most off all. I love the freedom of having 0 dept and paying 0 interest for the fist time in 12 years... intact, I am getting paid interest! its crazy. Have discovered that being rich, is answering to no one and having no dept or other commitments holding your creative ability and freedom back... and the ability to use your time as you see fit. Choose Life.

Hi All, Was trying to refrain from posting until car is finished but I'm stuck.. Long story short - Facelift E30 320i with series 5 13b Turbo rotary, Microtech LTX-8 ECU. I connected the tacho wire from the ECU to the tacho signal pin on the C101 so the tacho reads but its about 500 rpm out at idle (have had it plugged into laptop and seen the digital reading from the ECU) on microtech software. My theory: If i changed the instrument cluster/tacho/whatever to a 4 cyl unit will that solve my problem? The 13b has 4 coils, so technically the tach would think it was 4 cyl? right or wrong? Would be helpful as the odometer gears in my current dash are flogged anyway.. I would love to keep the stock tacho so as to keep the interior as original in appearance as possible, I really dont want to mount a big ugly tacho on the dash etc.. Thanks in advance.. -Jason

As others have said, It's a legally binding contract to buy. However, in this case both parties obviously understand it was a mistake haha. The thing about Trademe that really pisses me off is they sold their soul when they sold the original company. They literally do not care what happens as long as they get their fee and no one is trying to get around that fee. If they don't get their fee or they find you trying to avoid it, may baby jesus have mercy on your soul. I've had numerous purchases that were legitimately purchased for reasonable amounts, only for the seller to sell it to someone else (after the auction has closed). Trademe just reply with a "tough sh*t" generic answer. I've also had a couple of trades where the seller has done a runner with my money and neither the Police or Trademe really care. Bought a gearbox up north a few years back, had the guys address, two of his car rego numbers, workplace etc only for the officer "investigating" it after months of following up with him to cold shoulder me... but that's a whole 'nother box of frogs. Another is the auctions where reserve is met, numerous bidders, only for a couple of days until bidding closes the auction is withdrawn. Trademe gets their withdrawl fee, they don't care. Bought some AMG Aero 3's last month, paid the guy then after weeks of messing around he refunded me my money and gave me some story about how he couldn't sell them anymore... in other words he sold them to someone else. Basically, unless you have loads of money to take them to small claims and a small team of PI's to locate them... TM is just a place that relies on peoples good will and ethics.

Impacted/ growing sideways (forward). I wanted them out a couple of years ago but was under the same impression as most people, that they cost a shitload and id need insurance, after putting it off of a few years and not getting insurance or finding a policy suitable, i went to the dentist and got x-rayed and examined, she referred me to the hospital where i got accepted and put on the waiting list that is 4 months maximum wait. May be different for others but seemed pretty straight forward for my case. Going in at the end of the month.

Cheers. I don't have either so that a bonus!! I tell ya. Its liberating to think I can go oversea's for an extended period and if I like somewhere I can just stay there. Awesome. Will come back next year and get a job as so I can go racing and buy a house again... maybe out of Auckland though! Hope it crashes soon.

Considering it will only do 240 makes it even more a joke... not that the Megane car do 270+, I think the most I could get it to was just over 250kph. But great that it encourages you to sit at 130, and the way it handles you can just sit there in a back road. I like that BMW still have the same old classic, simple and clear instruments in even the latest cars, why mess with a good thing.

Yep, they are starting to import them into the US, a car like that would be worth mega bucks.. something to consider. Also. Another reason why Renault are better than VW, they know the speeds you like to drive so they make them nice an big... who the f**k actually goes 100.. haha

Don't forget to do the valley pan gasket and the coolant pipe that leaks just after you reassemble it They're right there, and I assume you don't want to strip it again . Don't overtorque the valley pan gasket bolts (or any of them - partucularly those going into alloy!) Good job though - I need a frame like your engine lifter thingee - Don't think the rafters in my barn would cope!

Actually. Please do this so you can buy my Aston Martin muffler that will sound good with a V12 exhaust note. Here it was fitted to my E36. Just delete the rear tyre well and bingo!
