Must be drivable, with rego. Warrantable is preferred but can deal with if not. Looking at around the $2k - 3k max mark as it will be part of a photoshoot with Rusta and convoy for my wedding in April.

At first glance I thought it was something special. Then I realised it's just an E36 compact.

To get dash to work was turning into a bit of a problem, all the sensors like water temp, oil light, alternator light are wired to the factory e46 DME plus theres the tacho. . To get around the problem I decided to still run the 4 cylinder DME, I removed anything that wasn't going to be used , leaving only the crank trigger, water sensor, oil pressure, alternator light and power supply. I made an extra bracket to mount the crank trigger at the front of the motor and pick up off the M60 crank pulley. I then started to wire in the M60 DMe and trans , ecu. It still have to mount the computers and wire in the P/S button, reverse lights, Park/ neutral starter lock out. And then move on to suspension and brakes But in the mean time it runs and can be driven.

Google is your friend their is a e39 buyers guide document on this forum i believe. It is not the purchase price you pay but the maintenance Pill you will have to swallow after should you rush in and not do your homework. As Nathan mentioned a 530 is the best option for power comfort etc and having owned one for 5 and half years would agree but and always a but with BMW's. Research is the key do not be in a hurry to buy they will not go away and one will always be for sale. While you are looking these I feel are a must Service history, receipts for other work carried out, Pre purchase inspection, if possible talk to previous owners, test drive as many as you can to get and idea/feel for the model. Best of luck in your search.

Thanks for a all the advice guys, appreciate it. I will have to see what space I have available in the container before deciding on bringing anything extra. On another note. What are the countries regulations on modifying cars. Can I slam the crap out of a car or is there a limit?
