@Olaf - this might have decent front door rubber seals - they were a bit tatty on the 545i ....

Alright fellas, i've been wanting to buy an e30 318i manual coupe since last year but every time one comes up it sells after two or so days. I am now looking at importing one. Do you guys recommend it? Do you guys know of someone who can import one for me? is it risky? I have no idea about importing e30's so maybe some of you could shed some light on it. thanks in advance

Wanted to borrow/hire cam locking tools for m52 to do vanos seals on a mates e36. Does anyone have some I can hire for beer/vodka/crack/nuclear weapons?

I recently aquired a 2000 SLK230 Mercedes Benz which my daughter drives. She had no interest in the OEM tape deck and CD changer so I bought a mechless bluetooth Kenwood head unit for about $150. Installation was a breeze as the Merc has standard ISO connector for the stereo. It needed a Kenwood / JVC to ISO adapter (about $15 at Supercheap) and a Euro antenna adapter. Plug them in and push the unit into the dash and its finished. About 5 minutes work. No soldering, no wiring. It works fine with the OEM Bose amp and speakers. Tweeters and mids in the doors. Sub woofers behind the seat. Sound is really good. Going to do the same for my wifes SLK which has a 2006 Apline iPOD stereo in it - even displays cover art in colour - but no bluetooth. Jim

Replaced the stock solid discs (and associated calipers) on the E36 with some from a 328i. Bolt on upgrade - vented discs and bigger calipers. Usual assortment of tools required - 16mm for the caliper bolts, 14mm for the flexible hose, 7mm(!) for the bleed nipple... Anyone noticed how 16mm is a spanner size not normally included in a set? Whoever changed the pads last time (not me!) belonged to the 'lean on it' school of bolt tightening. The caliper bolts should be tight, sure, but these took some real work to get them undone.

The Donor parts car turned up yesterday. Spent most of today stripping it down ie: all the manual conversion stuff! And any interior parts I might need along the way.... I am also going to to try & convert the rear drums to disc.

Long weekend work done. Headliner, all pillars, rear parcel shelf all removed for re-lining. Headliner saggy as sh*t. Since most of the lights are out, might as well do interior LEDs as well. Looking forward to a fresh new interior linings. Just needs starter motor replaced, tomorrow's job for removal. Steering rack is noisy on adjusting so that'll get looked at while it's off the road for a week or so. Then we are pretty sweet, touch wood trim

I reckon I know what you'll be working on this long weekend, then! Something blue and shiny?
