It's been a project that's been sitting too long. Started working on it again. Trying to create a 60s retro cafe racer / weekend Motorsport car. This weekend was around trying to bring the switchs closer to the driver in the hope I can reach them whilst using a harness.

I was the same starting out, came home with some welding I did at college I thought was decent, dad put one end in the vice and broke it clean off at the weld! A very tangible lesson. I'm moving to Tauranga next week, so if you're down that way I'd be happy to give you lessons and help with the cross member and engine mounts. Not too sure on foam, makes it a PITA if any rework is required. Hope I'm not coming off as too negative, it's a great choice in engine/chassis/etc, and an excellent rim selection to go with!

You should never be going back and forth like that, it's symptomatic of either inadequate prep or incorrect weld settings. Gasless is also rubbish on thin stuff so that definitely counts as an incorrect weld setting! Tbh if the salesman told you it would be fine for car body stuff gasless he should get a clip round the ear with a full gas bottle Have you got much more welding to do? The forum may be able to provide the borrowing of a bottle perhaps?

For me, I got a letter saying mine had to be physically checked. Called Jerry Clayton, made an appointment on Friday for the Monday. In and out in an hour. If they need to change the bag, it might take longer, but the initial process is the same.

Punk talk reminds me a bit of the clash. Mate of mine went through a punk phaze when we were teens. Built him a stereo from bits I had lying around. He did the Johny Rotten thing and never got to see his 21st. He gave me a copy of Rock the Casbah on 7 inch which we thrashed on his system. Every time I hear it it gets played with volume. Probably not up to slam dancing these days though.

Not at all foolish. Possibly unfortunate or poorly-advised, but that's entirely acceptable.

A few more press shots of the Z4 Concept car that's just been shown for the first time. Again, I am just hoping that the final design is very, very close to the concept shown and not diluted as it becomes a production version.

you will just need to have the universal changed on the steering shaft end to your original uj. any driveshaft place can do it for you

I would love to use a dry sump, but I just cant afford it. Being on a tight budget unfortunately forces these compromises. I've contemplated making one, but messing with the oil supply is something I'm not game enough to risk.

For steering shaft us e30 guys for a cheaper alternative a steering shaft for a holden astra....could would or for more clearance i used flaming river uni joints and DD shaft but that is a little more expensive. Beware with mounting allow room for the coolant & heater pipes at the rear of the motor. One thing i didnt have enough room for.

If the internets and google is to be trusted, some positive reveiws, with most issues seem to be relating to use of low octane fuel which we don't really have here (<90). http://forum.e46fanatics.com/showthread.php?t=846878 http://www.thetruthaboutcars.com/2008/12/product-review-shark-injector/ That being said, the general consensus on this forum seems to be, Dyno Tune > Chip, and I'm inclined to agree, $ per HP though, the shark has potential to be better value for money, but, won't squeeze the most out of your setup as it's based on generic assumptions about what modifications and condition your engine is in.

Thanks for the info. I was planning on using stock e46 m3 engine mounts, as they are very slightly stiffer than e46 non m engine mounts. I will be using rubber on the trans mounts too.

Will be good to see this finished. Careful on the jack stands, it looks like unstable to me! Wouldn't take much of a bump moving the engine in for it to fall off..

I would strongly suggest that you spend your money wisely and get a PPI carried out first and then cost what may actually need to be done. There may be quite alot more that needs to be done on a 26 year old E30. And I did get your email. I would need to see the vehicle before giving you an estimate on cost and unfortunately we don't fit parts supplied unless by arrangement.

I have a new shipment of Bluetooth modules arriving this week, ive installed one in an E87 similar to yours and it works great, no need to remove your factory stereo as the BT Modules integrated directly with the factory stereo and steering wheel. PM if you want more info :-)
