In the UK petrol and diesel cars will be banned from 2040, and in France by 2030. I better hurry up and finish my project car or it will be banned a week after its first drive.

^^^^^ All very true Andrew. Off topic to EV's but look what has happened to listening to music - done the full circle back to turntable. Not all new tech is best...

Put a 3rd pedal into the m535i and cleaned the interior so it no longer feels like a cocoon of disgustingness (who knew door handles could go mouldy)

So some of you probably saw this rather rare manual X5 pop up on TM for approximately 20 seconds this week. I saw it and well... had to buy it straight away. Flew up to Auckland Saturday morning and drove it back to Hastings the very long way. It's fairly tidy. Is a sport package model too with decent history. It does have an aftermarket head unit which I shall be asking members on options to improve that What a stunning machine with the manual!

Got to hoon around Taupo Track/ Bruce McLaren Motorsport Park in a single seat race car today as my 30th bday present, very cool- highly recommended to all! Still wondering where the bit between taking off and the checkered flag went..... PS dont loose track of what gear you are in, trying to exit the hairpin in 2nd instead of 3rd means too much wheelspin will send you off!

Well this is coming up to 200k on the clock and instead of selling it I decided to give it a facelift and a refresh Decided to replace all bushes, arms and joints in the front and rear suspension. Then into a full groom, just some of the cleaning produces required for the job Start under the bonnet

Mrs W had a charity even to attend tonight... So I gave the E39 a birthday (It's not really a birthday, because we usually wash it twice a year ) - 5 minutes washing the car, 15 minutes washing the style 42's Almost looks like someone cares about it now. The clutch is going to be due VERY soon - It's starting to bite very high. All the parts are in the garage, but it's not a project I'm looking forward to.

Today, on the 530 I removed the centre console cover to reveal 14 years of meal consumption evidence for ahh removal... Also glued down the silver trim which had broken away, and replaced storage compartment with sliding cover. Cleaned all switches, leather boots etc. Going back in tomorrow when the glue dries. Must do this on the M5 to see what hidden treasures lurk... Also going to remove rain sensor as it is not working (and have really needed it lately...). I suspect the clear adhesive pad is coming away there is a large area of "air bubble" across the sensor face. Hopefully can get another pad...

Took the primary child seat out of the wife’s e36. Rasie you crumbs, bit of an old biscuit, water remains ( I hope it’s water) a few lollies and a stick collection.

On the radiator front the wifes e36 328i did a similar thing last weekend. Noticed the coolant coming out from somewhere near the top of the overflow tank. The tank was replaced last year. I bought a new radiator cap and took off and put on and re-tighten the top hose into it and did a basic top up with water. Cooling system was now holding pressure. Went or a drive and found it needed further coolant. Put car on step part of driveway nose up. Turned on heater and bleed system. Got wife to do a couple of short drives and rechecked ... all good. Will replace the water with anti-freeze this weekend.

Maybe the switch jamming against the seat shroud. Have had this on other vehicles

Johnny Bohmer just drove a street-legal (registered, tested, road-legal, street-drivable car with air conditioning) to over 292mph. Actually, that's 'just' over 292mph, because he was aiming for 300, and had a loss of boost pressure above 275. He'll try again in December. By the way, you need a LOT more power than any Bugatti for this. Johnny has 2700 at his disposal...

Well, it's not like I drive over the Remutaka pass every day in an overpowered old car...no wait...that might be me... I wiped the thing off the 'oil' was mostly oily black soot (see attached photo). Which means it might be an old PS leak that's since carbonized and I should drive more moderately. Tim

Would mainstream media print anything to the contray? Would 'researchers' who are likely in the govt pocket come up with different results that don't tow the official line on climate change? It would be more environmentally friendly to run my current 15 year old car for another 5-7 years which returns 8.5l/100km highway than to increase/encourage consumerism and drop $40-50k on an EV for a five year cycle. Just more wealthy, white western liberals telling us what we need to do as a way of virtue signalling to feed their false moral conscience when it comes to enviro/social issues. They will happily guilt trip the majority of the population on green issues while they have no dramas shitting into clean drinking water, using excessive amounts of water (three showers/day, two laundry cycles/day, watering their garden on their high six figure - seven figure quarter acre section), daily consumption of meat and dairy (demand for intensive farming), two or more late/new vehicles per household, jet setting on holiday every 6 mth - 1 year etc. These clowns are the epitome of hypocrisy and fail to put their money where their mouth is, but expects everyone else to tow their line.

^ yes, worth mentioning. That looks great! On a day other than today I discovered and fixed a coolant leak on the 328 and replaced the belts and pulleys, tensioners were fine. Belts were on their last legs so timing was good. Removed the ECU from the M3 and found what I suspect is a problem with the circuit board.

Put up a shade sail in the attempt to stave off the bee poo bombardments this coming summer.... Also over the weekend took the Monaro up to Auckland for a "End of Holden Production Cruise" - Not BMW but thought I'd mention it...

In a moment of lucidity (not lunacy I swear) I took the entire steering column to a look smith to get a key made... who promptly told me he needed the drivers door lock. And got some fresh plates for the e46.
