CBF started its own thread so here’s a big poat, picked up another members silver 540i MSport with a damaged engine off trademe a couple weeks ago, this weekend I got both cars out to my parents farm and pulled both m62s from the silver 540i (chain slipped) and my old black 540i (electric issues) and swapped the good engine into into the silver body. Cleaned it up and reassembled the interior whenever it rained and after refilling fluids etc I managed to drive it home today! Safe to say my hands are f****d but we’ll worth the effort and experience! New tyres tomorrow and need to figure out how to get the OEM Head unit going again next. Pics:

I cleaned my injectors too this weekend, using my home made rig and also installed new orings. Probably not as good as getting them done professionally but it cleared my lean fuel codes, and improved my fuel trim measurements. I can list the before and after fuel trim measurements if anyone is interested as I only understand the basics of them.

Removed the injectors from the S50 to get them serviced. Bit of a spur of the moment thing (as in, I've been meaning to do it for months and have only just got around to it) and quite the pain in the backside. That fuel rail was on there tight! Three injectors came out with it, 3 remained. Off to Injector Tech in Glenfield tomorrow for a service @ $30 each which isn't too bad.

Nevermind. Timing was way off. The crank pin felt like it had "located" in the flywheel but it was just some other sort of indentation. I redid it and visually verified #1 at tdc. It's running and just a few vacuum leaks to chase down. Huzaaaah!!!

drives and moves under its own power. This was a big moment for me as I'd had trouble with the clutch but now sorted. Not perfect but on its way.

Got it out of the shed yesterday. I'm using early e24/e12 front hubs. The bearings are the same as the 323 bearings so direct fit. I had to machine the hub centre down about 1.2 mm. This allowed me to fit commodore discs. Giving me about 41mm more disc. The Holden caliper is also bolt on so major upgrade. The rear is e28 subframe shortened to fit. and e34 arms.

Hey Team Just a small update. Did a little road trip up to Auckland over the weekend and picked up a 2nd hand set of XYZ 6pot 330mm brakes. Thanks to Raymond for giving me a great deal. But the high light of my trip was when i went to buy some fruit for the trip home around Greenlane. Saw this beast that caught my eye. I'd have to say the mintest 750i possibly in NZ. I was lucky enough to catch the owner while putting his grocery's in the boot. Donny is his name, brought this back in 96 brand NEW! at $270,000 haggled down from $300,000 WTF. has all the bells and whistles as he got to pick what add ons he wanted. Having AC Schnitzer body kit and 18inch mags made it look stunning. Custom two tone leather, T.V , Phone Sunroof etc. And heres the kicker for a 21 year old car Donny's only done 90,000kms in it. Had a good old yarn with him and took some pictures. I said this will probably be the only time i would see this. Bloody awesome
