Captains Log : Stardate 8999.4 Gearbox removal. No one died. This is a big job (particularly on Jack stands). Installed the #savemejebus jack and stands incase i had to get rough and it went pearshaped and tried to kill me. 1 - You cannot access the upper bolts from top of engine. N54 you can, n52 and its intake runners - forget about it. I have some funky snap on ratchets and tools, and none of them will fit. 2 - Its an E14, the starter bolt, E14. Dont believe the internet and spend an hour and a half trying to get an E12 to fit. Youre welcome. 3 - Lower the gearbox, push up on the front of the crank and jam wood in there to hold the engine up and box down. I had roughly 2.5" between gearbox mounts and chassis to access the upper bolts. It doesnt require much force, i did it by hand, but it needs to be held up at the front ( and it also stops the engine dropping onto the sump when the weight of box is removed ) 4 - Long ass extensions and universal joints. The two top bolts are accessed from the back if gear box up to the back of head. Its a mare. They like to sit up there once undone, and not come out of holes, had to make a long ass hook device to pull the bolts out. 5 - The ali bolts come out pretty easily, 3/8th drive no wucking furries. The steel bolts require a big ass breaker bar as the 30 foot extensions like to wind themselves up. You will smash your fingers. 6 - Bit of a wriggle and jiggle and the box came out, lowering the jack and pulling it out in one smooth motion went really... Smooth. Shifter assembly comes out easily, my car had what I thought was a pretty decent shift feel, but the bushes are totally shagged.... Bunch of pics, most are to remind me how it goes back together! (and apparently in no order...) This PDF here was very useful http://www.e90post.com/forums/showpost.php?p=19266401&postcount=1

Forged staggered variety 17x8 17x9 ET20 ET22 Wheel covers, caps and paint are original and still quite tidy. Curbing machined and lips polished. Have replaced BMW center logos and cover bolts(stainless hex type) with new items If i had a suitable car these would be on it right now, the problem is im unsure when\if i will get the said car. I may regret it but just seeing if there is any interest before i look into storing them away for the future Have 235 and 245 tyres with good tread that can go on but they aren't worthy imo to fitted. Better photos can be taken for serious buyers if needed $2000

Found these whilst having a browse on TM, they look to be flashier than your standard sports shocks, could be a good deal for someone? I'd also be curious to find out which exact model they are, but the look like PSS coilovers? https://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/car-parts-accessories/bmw/suspension/auction-1589109566.htm

Hi All, New to the Bimmer forum thought id give it ago, proud owner of a 2005 e46 M3 (SMG). Have owned for about 3 years (bought it when I was 19) and have loved every moment! Obsessively maintained to always be looking/running her best but did not come as it currently looks as I thought it could do better and wanted to make it my own. Fortunate enough to have full service history which was important as it’s done more km’s than most. Joined the forum to learn more about BMW’s and see/learn what others out there have done to there’s to make them better and possibly go along to some meets as iv never been to one. Future plans include CSL air intake ect, agency power headers, mid pipes. GTR vented bonnet on its way from overseas. Carbon fibre going to be pained car colour with vented grills left black.

Yip. Ive had a uk hd12 very plain no sports seats or body kit and Basically just means manual with lsd but can have as many extras as you like. The one I'm selling is not an m tech but acs with sports seats. Way better suspension than the sports model and probably a lot rarer body kit than the mtec one on my other car.

Tow bar wired into LCM. We ( @andyb184) wired in the trailer harness to the LCM. The loom had been cut short (a foot short of the B pillar) It's running into the OEM trailer module in the boot. So the loom was extended and then soldered into the correct wires (ones already taken like indicator/brakes) and the data/fog light cable pinned into the LCM. Haven't got a trailer to hook it up to and test yet but it's not throwing any codes as is (touch wood). Oh and I found a dollar under the font seat. Now i need to vacuum ;-)

Wellington, I've seen it around a couple of times, but when it was parked outside work I had to go have a perv haha. (Not sure I should be too specific as it wasn't just parked on the street)

can't be done. just use OE E30. stiffer than OE will only make an already tail happy car become more so. In the E30 I throw about, I run OE in the back, and down rated to the 318i unit in the front.

Took it up to Auckland for Xmas and then over to Raglan for New Years and then back to Welly. Didn't miss a beat and got to stretch it’s legs. Stopped in and met @Lucan and picked up the roof racks he was selling a while back. Back down to Welly and gave the new snow foam lance a go Thought it was a gimmick but it's really good. At 208,000km I have just replaced: - Timing chain guides - Timing chain - Oil seperator (returned to OEM setup as PO had installed a catch can system) - Vanos Seals - Valley Pan - CCV - Water Pump - Thermostat - Coolant temp sensor - Engine mounts - Upper oil pan gasket - Lower oil pan gasket - Crank seal - Fuel Filter - Oil Filter - BMW coolant Thanks @Etwenty1 for hiring out his timing tool. Now that this is all done I will hopefully make it to the next Wellington Club meet. This ended up being a lot more time consuming than I thought and ended up having the car off the road for the last 7 weeks using spare hours here and there to get it done, learnt a lot and had to ask lots of questions from more mechanically minded mates but got there in the end. Here’s a few pics from my journey. I don't think I actually took a finished engine bay photo...but you get the idea. I do really regret not painting the rocker covers but I was pretty over it being in bits at this point...
