Cheers man, super easy if you have the tools. Metal compound (I used Truckers Pride liquid heavy cut) with steel wool then machine cut with heavy compound and pad on a DA machine (I used Rupes Bigfoot, coarse pad and HC400 but others will get same result). It's not perfect, but pretty good for an hours' work. A refine polish will make it much better, but tbh I'm only doing this for my own benefit. If you're stuck for products, we stock most of this stuff at www.unitedcarcare.co.nz (shameless self plug).

e60: Yesterday saw a report from panel shop : more damage found in rear bumper, previous repair poorly executed (plastic welded but filler cracking, poorly adhered and heavy). "Yep, please do it right" (which is additional scope and comes out of my pocket, not insurance). So I dropped by for a squizz. Seems the bumper was originally black, had a few layers of paint on it. It's well on it's way to looking great. They've worked their magic on the dent in the guard where it meets the bumper, metal-finished back, appears no filler required. "The dark arts".

mine did this after i swapped the door handle, it was a switch on the door lock mechanism, something to do with the anti theft stuff, it fired up as soon as i got it fitted properly, but it would only start when you unlocked it with the key in the drivers door, if you left the window down and unlocked it from the inside handle it would just crank over until the battery died.

As I did when suggesting the only thing we saw in a clothes shop that would look good on my wife was the sales assistant...?

Minor update, pulled the codes, all 6 glow plugs failed at the same time, cleared the codes drove it some more with a couple of the glow plugs failing again. Brand new plugs so I know they aren't the issue. Ordered a new glow plug controller (thanks ebay!) will install it and see if it fixes things.

Finally did the my vanos seals on my 265,000km M54. Best $200 ive ever spent on a car i think. Nice torque gain esp below 3k and even smoother throughout the rev range. +1 Recommendation
