Decent amount of progress in past month or two. M54B30 engine Trial fitted G220 Gearbox and standard factory manual mount sorted. Gearshift linkages too long so shortening those 60mm Then measured driveshaft and having front section lengthened 180mm Bumpers are all now Fiberglassed back together and all mounts glassed on, now for some sand/fill work and painting. Porsche 911 SC Brake booster modified and installed XYZ Coilovers fitted to front struts and installed Front wheel bearings were shot so fitted new wheel bearing hubs Medium Case LSD fitted Front seats are being recovered with Factory Pacific Blue material, hope to get those back this week. Modified the E30 steering linkage to suit the Z3 rack but it's just not working, hitting exhaust manifold hard. Picked up a Holden Astra linkage on Friday which I have started modifying to fit while engine is out, will get that sorted this week . I suspect manifold may still need some massaging. Lots of other things happening along the way to keep things moving, engine currently out while sorting the heater lines and also refitting clutch slave cylinder and gearbox plus sorting Radiator and hoses which I think I know what i'm doing with that. Hope to have engine and gearbox back in for the last time on Sunday if time allows, then will get the exhaust made up. After that its the Wiring harness, which will hopefully be sorted by my Auto Electrical guy. Steady progress, project has escalated a lot from original plans :), was something my son and I are building for him to learn to drive in.... yeah that's not going to happen!

Hello from the Hutt Valley, We’ve been driving around in a 1996 Ford Laser for sometime now with an occasional drive in our other vehicle, a 1998 Ford Courier XL Wellside. Both of which don’t have much of a vehicle safety rating. My fiancée and I recently fell in love with a 2012 7 Series 750i – a Japanese import. It was the first car yard we visited one random Sunday afternoon, and the 3rd vehicle we looked at up close. It was all over from there. It’s quite a leap in terms of.... almost everything (steering wheels and four tyres are still common place in the 2000’s)! Until it came to purchasing this particular vehicle, I knew squat about BMWs. I did spend some weeks researching the 5th generation 7 series and became aware of the potentiality for serious problems to occur. Despite numerous tales of woe in various online postings we went ahead regardless – love knows no bounds (3yr MBI sorted along with an independent PPI)? It’s fairly tidy considering it’s 72,000 wrinkles and at this stage I just intend to give it a good wax (AutoGlym). Try to remove some superficial scratches on the paint work and on the interior surface of the wooden trim. I've already invested in some leather care from European Leathercare in Petone. It doesn't look like the rear seats were used much at all. A couple of new tyres due soon as only 3mm left on the rear. I had spotted some Bridgestone Turanza T005’s after noting the B grade attributed to a decrease in rolling resistance (how much that will help in real-world economy I don’t know). Suggestions most welcomed regarding tyre selection, as well as any unwanted fuel vouchers ? Other than that, it’s an brobdingnagian joy to drive, bugger the environment and my retirement fund! Cheers. I slightly grainy photo shall have to suffice for now. P.s. does anyone know when the ECOPRO mode was first introduced with the 7 Series?

We'v all seen them. The irreverent, the humourous, the laugh out loud (whether deliberate or accidental... Let's see them, let's hear about them! I found this ad for Land Rover Discovery on a US-based website: "Meet Joe. Joe is a driving shed. Joe used to be a 1996 D1 with until I got my hands on it. With 250,000 on the clock, I simply can't kill this thing. I used it to open up and prove trails as an underdog measuring stick. It jumps real good. I've laid it on it's sides more times than I can count. It's only okay at smashing builders but it's really good at obliterating rotten trees. It even caught a falling tree once. A big one. I'm pretty sure it blew a head gasket a couple thousand miles ago but it only overheats when competing in tractor pulls. If driven right, you can make a Jeep driver on 38s jelly. There is a mouse living in it. The mouse's name is Clyde. Don't worry about the mouse. I'm not too sure I want to sell this thing now."

I did my own. While I did it alone, it'd be easier with two people. Just don't unroll the door before fitting it!

What models are you thinking of in particular? 4-cyl petrol is much better than the previous version in the E90 and later models got the new Bxx series engines which are better again. However, I still prefer the diesel over the petrol. 6 cylinder engines are both great performance wise, especially in the 335 versions. At bit more pricy as you would expect, but worth it if you can stretch that far. M-Sport versions are most popular in NZ and are the best looking IMHO. Sport Line is not far behind. Luxury Line is for 70 year old gentlemen and Urban Line was just weird and dropped pretty quickly. Not sure about issues, haven't heard of anything.

my recomendation for tyres is the tyre clinic fifeshire ave (next to mitsubishi wellington).Do you have run flats? My experience with runflats(at the time) was that pirelli's were competitive in price with bridgestones and continentals but had a nicer ride. Tyre clinic do not seem wedded to a particular brand

I had an Avin, it failed in about a year, cost an absolute buttload and like Jacko said it's old hardware and OS. I then changed to an Eonon for about half the price and it had much better specs and newer Android. Operation was much faster then the Avin as well

That's what my old man kept telling me about girls... I suppose it did happen eventually... I hope Graham doesn't have to wait that long!
