Maybe ? Picked it up yesterday. Drives very well. Previous owner attended to mechanical issues and maintenance well. There are lots and lots of receipts in the glove box and in the boot... including a few 5 liter bottles of TWS oil which is handy. Interior is pretty damn immaculate for a car with 200k. I don’t think the rear seats have been used. Exterior needs a few door dents pushed and wheels refurbished. Motor feels strong, gearbox much nicer than my previous M5. I need a bigger garage!

Another update Team This was a couple of weekends work, Can almost see the finish line. So motor is now mounted, had a couple little hiccups as you do. Had to remove the gearbox to get the motor in, had a few rear axle bolts give us grief so smashed them off and had to be replaced. New belts put on and asc+t throttle plate removed, new sway bar stabilizer arms and rebuilt Diff from Kayne Barrie with 3.15 LSD So tried the factory 525i diff but was slightly too long, will need to get it shorten by 27mm. Left to do. Reattach the rest of the front end. Secure electric fan onto Radiator Sort wiring out, reverse lights, car to read in neutral and jump starter motor relay. Refit exhaust And thats about it. Can't wait!

Sorry for the late reply. The forum doesn't seem to be showing me notifications on my phone. Now that I'm not on my phone, here's a more detailed response. The dealership Responded to my tribunal application one week and one day into the negotiation window. They gave me the following two options: 6x Second hand ex-Australia with 1 year warranty - $1400 6x New Injectors from A European workshop in Auckland - $3750 They stated that since the car is second hand, the fix should be using second hand parts too. What a crock. How would I know what index they are, how many hrs/km's they've done etc etc. Right up into the court process they're still trying to cheap out as hard as they can. My Lawyer said now that they have offered for all six injectors and an option which include new ones, my argument would be significantly reduced for a refund. Upon that advice and considering the fact that the dealership is willing to at least look at a proper fix now, I'm pretty happy to look at repairing it anyway. It has to be the right repair, though. I wrote back outlining my above concerns, and said that I would not accept second hand injectors. They contacted me really late in the two week negotiation period, so I proposed the following: The dealership accepted that an extension would be handy. I applied and was granted an extension until Friday the 19th. By "Any found faults", it would of course be negotiated. I wouldn't hold them up for anything outside of the original issue like transmission, VANOS, ETC. However, if there is anything else in that fuel system that's wonky, like the HPFP, I will be going them for that, too. If the dealership is committed, they will easily have the car picked up and have a diagnosis/price in 5 days. I got mine in two days from my own workshop. So if they don't do anything by the coming Friday, I'll proceed to a hearing and see what is ruled.

Nicely done Aaron. Not the first person to move on from M5 ownership only to come back to it. Testament to a great all round car.

You have too many boxes. You will be waiting a long time bro.

How does it even get that? Surely thats just the VIN on the DME, so it could have had the DME swapped, not the engine?

Direct upload to TradeMe when you've got it home and realise that with unleaded 98 at $2.65+ you aren't going anywhere... Or perhaps something to do with radar detector... but looks factory...?

Unfortunately these have endured a few house moves and have incurred some rust / scratches in the process. Hoping someone on here can refurbish them and find a use. Price: $350 $300 Alex - 0210709077

My dongle is also a Carly gen 2 one. Maybe I just pay the app for one year (it is a subscription), because if I have done my battery, I almost have no use for it. I tried to use it on my 2000 Z3, doesn't work at all. And I can't use it for our E91 325i LCI FRM module, because I got the warning from the app that I would brick it. Google for this: "Carly has found severe faults in your FRM and has therefore NOT coded your FRM"

I can answer that The genuine carly one is definitely different hardware than a generic OBD2 BT adapter, its much faster etc. I wouldnt want to try code a DME with an ebay special, seems risky. Your welcome to borrow mine and have a play if you want. Its definitely not cheap, particularly with the price of the app, and once youve coded what you want it becomes a little redundant ( other than having torque update slightly faster! )

theres a road that runs alongside the hutt motorway between kelson and haywards that may be what you are looking for

Not the same quality. Your choice though. The ATE parts I can guarantee won't give you problems if fitted correctly. We used them for over 20 years. Also doing it yourself, you will have to get someone to reset the CBS menu and you must replace the progressive wear sensors

12.8v at rest is fully charged. 13.7 is either surface charge (if not running) or charging voltage, although that will climb over 14v Even if fully charged, the battery still requires testing to confirm good or bad.

    great score, Aaron! ?

Lol at the SMG book, with the needle buried deep in the redline, with all the "cold engine" lights lit. Not really being a good role model, are you BMW?

13 Oct 2018. 258,101kms It's been to visit Jon Mechaniker at Auto38 in Newtown, for some further diagnosis. Jon gave it a thorough going-over, stethescope and all. If you're in Wellington, bring this man your business! I enjoyed the pickup, had a nice talk to a local gent with a e61 550i; we shared notes on the lovely V8. Back to Grey Thunder. The good: the engine's a 'keeper'. Shiny cam, good oiling [edit: with good compressions]. The not so good: It needs a rad, there were more smallish things it needs, and it needs a wheel bearing, and some other bigger stuff. I already have the clutch kit and some of the cooling stuff, and the stuff for the rear bar, but still need a top hose and a radiator, as well as a bunch of small items. And the cambelt kit. And a wheel bearing x2 (I guess best replaced in pairs?). Today, I: Changed the spark plugs. I already had these, so not your secret sauce recommendation sorry Jon! Bosch FGR7DQP+. Now it idles when cold! And pulls well. And runs far more smoothly at motorway speeds. Happy days! ? Checked the air filter, and found it's close to brand-new. A Hengst E41L. Adjusted the throttle cable. Measured my new rear ARB - it's a 13.5mm, so need to get bushes for it (I bought 12mm Gen BMW) Measured my front ARB: it's 19mm. I'm looking for a 20mm, so if someone has one in good nick please let me know. And if anyone has a Hirschmann power antenna for e30, let me know.

2002 with less than 1000kms on the odo... 176k usd. I think your pricing is a bit on the low ball/quick sale side.

These will be the newer design which you can't/shouldn't mix and match with the older type rather than the older fault prone ones

Why can't they send the used injectors to a workshop closer to you, if they insist on them? Massive f**k around having to get the car back to Auckland! Dave's on the right course too, lock that "warranty" down hard. I can imagine the hassles if you had to claim that "warranty" though.

Haha wow that's a bit over the top. My car is "Checked" every 2 years here in the US. And they barely check it. It failed last time because they couldn't connect to the OBD2 port to get the emissions readings. I drove around the block and pulled back in. 2nd guy didn't even check that. Pass. However if you crash because of neglect to your vehicle. Well you are liable. And will likely get sued by and individual or an insurance company. This works in the US. But would not in the Nanny State of NZ. If there was no hand holding for safety checks in NZ I reckon our sh*t road toll would be even higher.
