Spends money on upgrades throughout the car making it no longer OEM. Then spends 20K on a stock M20 rebuild.... What an odd decision.

It's very nice indeed. But there was a Diamond Schwarz one that was asking 25k in Rotorua which was in very good condition too. And I thought that was really testing the market. $50k... IMO I would rather buy a normal E30 coupe shell, put a S54 in it, run it with just two seats and half a cage. Or Spend it all on hookers and blow.

Picked this up from Hamilton the other day, and it's great to be back in a BMW again. Obviously its a pre-LCI 2006 E91 335i with Motorsport spec. So fast, so comfortable and so damn nice to drive. Im smitten! She isn't exactly stock, Externally it’s mostly stock, with just aftermarket grilles on the front, tinted reverse lights, carbon wrap on the rear bumper and painted exhaust tips. Under the hood, it’s a bit more special…. Its had fitted, Rob Beck 2″ silicone intake pipes 3″ catless downpipes AMS intercooler BMS catch can Uprated low pressure fuel pump MHD OTS Stage 2+ tune xHP Stage 3 transmission flash Quaife ATB mechanical LSD It also came with some extra parts, like a pair of K&N pod filters and fitting kit, and a charge pipe with a blow off valve on it. I’ll be playing with these later. Heaps of common issues have been sorted, including a pair of brand new turbos, new injectors, new coils, new HPFP, and various other bits. Needless to say it pulls like a damn freight train, and will overcome the traction control if you aren’t careful. The LSD makes the rear just push hard, and if it does get a bit lairy its a nice progressive slip. Previous owner claims about 380hp ATW, and the car has done high 12s on the 1/4 Mile. The other side to it though, is that it’s a nice, quiet and comfortable cruiser. It’s a pleasure to drive around in, knowing that if you have to whip past someone, all you need to do is give that pedal a push. Love the cruise control with braking too, just a shame it doesn’t have the full “active” cruise control, although it can be retrofitted. There probably won’t be too many updates on this car, as I intend for it just to be a nice regular driver, taking it on trips and things.

Hey guys, I'm a BMW newbie who recently owned 116i 2012. I'm excited to join the bimmersport as I can access to so many helpful information. I'll be grateful if someone can guide me through all the tips on maintenance and things that I need to know. Thanks,

I typically do all the maintenence on my BMWs. For a couple of reasons a) gives me a chance to check the condition of other components b) cheaper c) fun and interesting if all goes to plan d) I know the work is actually being carried out aka I don't trust alot of mechanics. I also have Autosure Insurance on our newer wagon, so had to succumb to taking it in for a service to stamp the book. Found it quite pricey for the actual work being carried out and then when I got it home I found the lid of the air box not installed. Well known and recommended BMW servicing establishment too. Have been using FCP Euro to order parts. Have a good, cheap range and parts typically arrive within a week. Obviously dependent on your situation/space I'd recommend investing in some tools and DIY if the budget is tight. Find a professional on YouTube and seek advice on jobs from the wealth of knowledge on forums ?

Labour want to tax us into 3rd world poverty... Reason for all the tax on petrol is to faze New Zealander's out of their cars and all catching the bus and stuck in the 5G kill grid.☠️

Yeah small turboshaft, used to drive backup generators/hydraulic pumps/aircon etc. Some setups bleed air from the APUs compressor for starting the main engine

So this is one of those geared turbine engines like on a helicopter??

Or double it if they’ve just given it a wash for the first time since owning and it’s “in mint condition”

Don't bother listening to any of the stereotypes - none of them are true for every car. Look at each car on it's merits. Mt Singapore E39 only had the usual electrical issues: ignition switch and ABS module failure. I've seen some poked NZ cars too - on average NZers don't care any more than any other country. Just find a good car, and buy on condition/milage/history/feeling - whatever floats your boat. Have it inspected by someone who really knows their stuff, or learn the stuff yourself.

There is a fine line between what people think their car is worth against what it will actually sell for.

the e34 that we call the 535is was never called a 535is by BMWNZ.AKAIK it was just a manual 535i with a full motorsport kit.I dont think they even called them a M535i
  16. 1 point
For 20k you could get an S85, installed.

Perhaps you can put me straight... I thought the M325 was a 325is in other markets. Same car, different badge. Same story with the E34 M535i? Be interesting to see the invoice for the engine build. Either someone’s taken him to town, he’s jacked up the rebuild figure to justify his asking price, or an attempt to impress a potential buyer who wouldn’t have the know how on changing a tyre - someone like Mike Hosking or Jack Tame springs to mind. Hell, for around $22k I could build a 15 litre Cummins or Cat, or 16 litre Volvo inc cylinder head that will be good for 1 million km.

Common guys, he's spent the 20k on getting 147kw dialled in!

Hi all, I'm Josh from Auckland - a qualified auto sparky by trade. Strangely my love for BMW's really stemmed from working on them before anything else - though that's not to say it's the only reason now. I've embarked on a project to restore a 1979 E23 733i that I picked up a couple years ago from a chap who blew the motor up and stripped it right down to prep for paintwork, then realised he had too many projects on. The E23 is well on it's way now but plenty more to do! Cheers Josh

Who is actually going to police the 60k-1 million per year overseas vendors? I can see that the biggest few would comply but cannot see most vendors caring at all. Thinking about it though between ebay, amazon and alibaba thats probably >50% of sub 1k imports anyway. Not a bad haul for the no new taxes govt, will go a long way to building some real flash HNZ houses.

Warrent time today. Took it to VTNZ as I was confident there weren't any issues. Turns out the orange film on the rear indicators had cracked off and they failed it because they were white. A quick trip to Repco and it's all sorted. ?
