Aaannnnnddddd she's legal. Few minor issues to sort but she's all legal. And clean. And registered. And ready for it's first outing tomorrow ?. Though having the "check engine light" come on at random intervals. I keep checking, the engine is still there and running.... not sure what's up with that lol. Oil is good and clean, all fluids topped up. New wiper blades and a couple other things. Starts and runs first time, the slight misfire at idle is getting better, so I think a good cruise on Christmas Day to Dunedin and back, change the oil, go right over it then start looking at what needs replaced.

Thanks man, yeah it's definitely grown on me! Yes rims are definitely in the grand plan of things. And good call on the plate mount, I didn't really think that far ahead.

So this is the damage that was done to the PCB from the wiring issues, no way that was going to be repaired. And I think I know what the issue was that caused it, and it's a nice simple fix so will get that sorted as well. Hahaha it still looks exactly the same as the previous pics, just a little cleaner now

So you gotta ask yourself, was it Wurth the effort??
  10. 1 point
I always use Wurth screenwash additive, but i use raw (untreated) water so its probably some kind of toxic algae bloom!!

I should've checked this earlier! Picked up the M3 last night. $940 later the cracking is all glued up! Peter mentioned that the car had never had the repair done before. When i initially took it in and had a word with him, i did try to push getting plates welded or at the very least, that crack welded up. he insisted it wasn't worth welding and that the epoxy will do the job. I guess if it still fails I can always revisit it later down the line! for now, i'm just happy I finally have my car back. Just in time for my last weekend in nz too! Apologies about calling it foam, when i was doing the DD people seemed to refer to it as foam, rather than the epoxy, so i didn't realise it was the same thing till i actually spoke to the team at BMW!!

Hi Bimmersport, Slim chance but you never know! Last year I bought a Z4 M coupe. Unfortunately the previous owner lost the service book - the good news is I've been able to retrace it's steps calling around the dealers who will kindly re-stamp a new book, however it would be great to get the detailed service information. In order to get this I need authorisation from the owner at the time. Does anyone from the South Island happen to know the original owner of this car? Despite being a 2006 model, It was purchased new in 2009 from Christchurch BMW. These cars weren't overly popular back then and given a Financial Crisis that hit during this time, it sat in the dealership for 3 years! Previous number plates it's worn included: - EZN464 - PR0PLR - FKR682 - ZED4M - FYG123 And photo of the car today: Any help greatly appreciated. Cheers, Alex

Thats a bargain for someone wanting to convert an e30

An old Fiat or even a Morrie would be cheap on fuel... but regrinding the valve seats every weekend would get old pretty quick! An E46 320i would be a little better than the 330i on fuel, and doesn't have an engine made by Satan in it. BTW I think buying a Leaf means you sign a contract saying attendance at KiwiFist is mandatory, so I'd avoid that ? Still got the Levin? That'd be OK on petrol.

    I'd rather drive a leaf than an e90 320i

One thing to consider is how many km do you do? I keep forgetting that buying a car (plus insurance, wof/rego and maintenance) pays for quite a bit of petrol. Maybe have a look at this? Not sure what the fuel consumption is like on a 330 vs a 325.

RR is in TK now. There's enough line there to complete a temporary job using the existing line, and cut off what was removed, and the one way inline valve. Doing the job properly will mean removing the inlet manifold - I'll get to that in time. Changed the spark plugs today. The combination of removing the air pump (etc) and new plugs does mean the tickover seems to have settled down a bit, and it generally feels like it's running better. Current average fuel consumption is 13.5km per litre - aka 7.4 litres per 100km. A fairly easy 800km+ per tank of fuel. Not bad for a 17 year old automatic!
