X5's are awesome! and it would eat the rough road for breakfast ?. Think of it as an E39 touring on steriods. The higher seating position, stacks of room and ride/travel comfort is a big bonus over the E39! An X5 just eats the miles. Be prepared for the sacrifice in fuel economy if you take the plunge - But thats what the Leaf is for hehe. IIRC I was getting 12/13 on my daily commute (60km round trip urban/motorway) and about 10/11 on long trips (1100kms Wgtn to BoP return). Unscientific testing of course haha! Good spec, good price, great color - go on, just do it (after getting it checked out first of course) ?.

I’m confused......why a Prius when an X5 is a different proposition? it could be a lot of car for the money......just like my $4900 e38 which continues be a great barge . Totally happy with my cheap old risky BM. Just check everything......

Pulled the front struts out, likely next requirement was the shocks replaced, noticeably better with suspension tidy up but still rough. Removed the strut, finally got the top but off with a bit of heat and tested the shock. ZERO rebound ! Stuffed. Springs have been taking all the load clearly. Well order some Bilstein B6 replacements and new mounts .... hello ECS. Now do I get lowering springs now, for another $500 probably will

Yip EDC and SLS currently so both will be deleted. Ordered the Bilstein with the lowering springs yesterday. Just a inch or so drop so very subtle and in line with the 750 style. Will update when done

I am doing rough roads once a week and the Leaf is my off road vehicle at the moment... It's not a happy little EV.

Mine's prettier, and cheaper. Surely this is all I need to buy a car. If mine was the M54B30, I'd have bought it already. Chain guides scare me.

Sooo... what will you be doing with the old block?

As much as i can respect big power figures there is a point where its just overkill for your average legal usage here in NZ. Sport bikes are a good examples as the only place you can fully utilize them is the track.

Not much to add other to say I've had a 530i LCI SE e60 and now have a 130i Msport and the 130i feels and especially sounds much more sporty and fun. I'm actually a 5er fan really, but grabbed this 130i (auto) as I heard they were loadsa fun but still somewhat practical daily and have not been disappointed. All 1 series need wheel spacers to complete the look tho.. still havent sorted mine!

Style 95s with Archillies Tyres. Wheels are in good condition minus a few pieces of coating coming off, and some slight curbing. Tyres have less than 2000km on them with heaps of tread left. 245/30/19 up front 275/30/19 at rear $1750 pick up St Johns Auckland

Just watched episode 5 with my number 1 daughter. Very entertaining. Excellent film about Jim Clark. Watch it.

Time to chime in. My "140" started life as a 118i pre LCI. Running an M3 rack, all M3 suspension components ,KW coilovers with 135 hubs/Brakes front and rear. M3 dif and all rear M3 susp. components. Pre LCI 130 steering rack is far superior to the LCI Active steering option. So much better feel to it. I rate the 130 highly enough to have put a few friends and family members into them. Have a several E82 135`s and E87 130`s at Hellbm atm for parts and projects.

I expect aspects of my job will be done by software/ AI / robots, but i am not worried about being made redundant, i have a very diverse job description that involves everything from answering the phone to maintenance and repairs on machinery, product development, troubleshooting, quality control, driving and more, it would require several very capable and expensive technologies to replace one worker, just doesn't add up. By the time it becomes cost effective i hope to be retired anyway!

However, those two identical vehicles very rarely exist, and there are many, many more important things that NZ new in determining the value. The majority of "NZ New" cars I have seen have been either poorly optioned and / or badly serviced with badly stone chipped bumpers and bonnets.

You should see some of the late model NZ cars we get at work that have lived near the sea in Petone or Seatoun. Held together with orange flakes.

It might be worth slightly more but is it worth $15-20K more? i personally don't believe so, if i had the option of this NZ new example or my UK import i would make the same decision again. Also, the rust myth is just begging to be taken out and put down, I have seen NZ new cars with major rust at a few years old and my UK M5 didn't have a spot of rust on or under it when i got it at 8 years old.

That doesn't mean they are better. My Jap import cars have ALWAYS been in better condition than the comparative NZ new vehicle. I'm not saying this is the rule, but for the cars I have had it's been true. My 130i, E500, E55 and M5 all had absolutely no marks on them whatsoever, it's as if the Japanese owners had them running on blocks in their garage to get the mileage up or something. A lot of them also appeared to have service history.

Yup, people keep trotting out the same stories - all UK cars are rusty because of salt, all Singapore have electrical issues, all Japanese have been stuck in traffic all their life, etc. etc. Treat every car on it's merits, check for known issues, every car / owner / history is different. Take the car for how it actually is, not how all the sooth sayers on the Internets suggest it will be. As for NZ New being a bonus hmm, not so sure on that one.

Spent a good chunk of today on the 750, Avin Avant 3 device headunit was to be installed and three quarters sorted but need another type of cable to the boot, so ordered that as well. Got the reversing camera in and cabling for that sorted. Cable should be here next week and then it can be finished up. In sorting the camera cabling all the back seats have been out and tidy up etc, thanks for the $2 Dave Replaced the rear door sun blind. Cleaned all the door cards and front seats, mixed a light blue and black leather dies to a nice colour and got the fronts coloured up and looking sharp. Door cards all tided up as well. Really pleased how it’s going, when the rears are back in they will be done as well. plenty of vacuuming under and around the inside, looking good all round. Cabin air filters replaced. Was up and under the rear end looking for a vibration, nothing spotted but the disk brake dust cover being really close to the rotor. See what happens with it. Few issues with the window washers so pulled the front fender inside guard off and checked through then discovered a leak coming out the base of the bonnet when pumping so will sort that when I swap the bonnet out, collecting a spare from Dave tomorrow that’s at the freight company. Still a good clean up under there is always a good thing. few pics of progress on the leather colouring, will post some more when the Avin unit is in (pre colouring ones at the bottom) Hardwired the Radar Detector also, definitely need that in this !

My e46 wagon (babara) overheated in traffic the other day and I have traced the problem back to the electric fan not coming on. When I send 12volts to it directly it runs fine so I know the fan is good, but it is not being turned on by the car when the temp goes up. I also have spare known working fans that work directly on 12volts, but also don't turn on when in the car. I've checked the big 50amp fuse and its fine, and I've checked continuity on the wire from the fan power connector back to the ecu and it is good with no breaks. I've replaced the radiator temperature sensor in the bottom rad hose with a known working one but still no luck. The ac doesnt blow cold and I presume its related? No codes have shown up on the dash. Anyone have any idea what it could be - its doing my head in.
