update... pukekohe last month saw a great weekend of racing. On the old track. while I am sorting out some small niggles I did manage a 1.10.9 still plenty more in the car , its just me that's letting the team down. things I did... new diff ratio and LSD preformed fantastic. dropped the rear 15mm and tightened up the rear sway bar. new tires. This all made the car fell more settled on the track. things that failed..... alternator wouldn't charge until it was doing 4krpm (now fixed $368) thanks Glen rear tires rub not by much so will cut an extra 20mm out of the wheel arch. Accelerator linkage/cable at the peddle box which brings me to todays post. I don't normally get jealous of other guy work trades but sometimes I wish I could use a lathe/mill machine. I needed a part made up and went and seen a mate who knocked up this pin with clip. cant buy them and the original was too long by 7mm and kept catching.

I think it is a case of death by a thousand cuts, the surface area of the bearings is quite small, presumably for packaging reasons when they designed the motor, there is a very small tolerance between the bearings and crank, the motor happily revs to over 8k rpm, the condition based servicing has the oil changes out to 20000km intervals, and it is a naturally aspirated 500 hp motor built to a price point set by company accountants. Also, because it has 10 cylinders and a seven speed gearbox in a North - South orientation and the letter S and numbers 8 and 5 in its name it has terrible feng shui. I believe it can be improved with mirrors... ?

I think it could clean up ok with the right wheels with that body kit and some additional neon under lighting.

... and also the M-diff and half-shafts, worth up to $2500 alone to the right buyer (on a good day!). Not to mention the M3 specific cosmetic items such as door mirrors, aluminium bonnet with power bulge, seats with electrically operated bear-hugging side-bolsters, rear-view mirror, and factory flared guards (currently "protected" with a generous coating of fibreglass)

I put Dragon Sports on my Wifes Skoda and its hardly a performance car but the grip was pretty good better than the worn RE003's. They also seem to be hard wearing. BTW where is Ron these days kinda boring not being told what to do all the time.

Another mini update- recently bought a ZHP gearknob to replace the rubbish old one. Also bought and installed a set of Powerflex rear camber arms. Hopefully I'll get a spare minute in the next week to install the Powerflex rear trailing arm bushes. The plan is to then get tyres and an alignment afterwards in preparation for cert. Also a nice little photo in there of the new daily driver..

Hey there everyone! My names Logan, I'm from Christchurch. This is my E36 which has been my project ever since I bought it back in November 2017. After reading the forums from time to time thought I'd join the group! Anyway here a few photos of the 22 year old, not everyone's cup of tea but hey it makes me happy! VID_20190215_193318.mp4

I’m a customer and not affiliated in any other way. I think this is a pretty good deal, and they’re pretty reasonable kit for the shade-tree mechanic. let me know if I’m “flamin’ dreamin’ ??

One of the scaremongering responses to the idea of CGT is around the private landlord situation - some against CGT say that private landlords will cease to exist, leading to a greater shortage and (even) higher prices int he rental market. Yet countries like the UK and Germany (especially Germany) have CGT and a very healthy private landlord situation. I predict CGT will make, in the medium to long term, zero difference to investors. The only property investors who will be affected are those who have bought, with a view to selling and making money from a capital gain. Longer term investors, those who have bought but carefully funded and rented/leased their property for ongoing return, won't care.

I don't think so, but Alpina made a some B10 3.0 Allrad based on the 525ix.

Perfect, I will call you as soon as I have parked. I will most likely park on the top level out in the open near where the old Dick Smith was (now Bed Bath & Beyond). See you then.

My cousin checked this out last time and no cracking, just too ugly for him.

On a bmw forum I feel it's a bit weird to suggest masochism is a bad thing.

You could duct tape 8 of them together, and still be slower than an E60 M5.

well the diffs in place now and I've dropped it 15mm using the coil overs( can see FA difference) which is about as far as I want to go for now. Too many changes and ill get lost with settings. I'm toying with the idea of using the old tyres for one more meet before I fit the new ones. pics for reference
