I have been slowly warming up to the idea of open-pore, non-glassy wood trim in cars. It looks super great in the X5, and I am kind-of over the glossy wood idea on premium sports cars. So, I found a black wood grain textured vinyl and proceeded to wrap the 6-er's wood trim. Not my first time doing a wrap, but first time using a heat gun whilst wrapping and boy does it make a world of difference. The Vinyl is super easy to mold around curves and corners. Anyway, pics attached. Let me know what you think ?

I've noticed as I'm sure others have, lots of old/dead stickied posts that make the place look like it's unmaintained. I reported a fair few of these last year but no one seemed to be home (quick to delete my for sale post as I was trying to edit with a pic tho). How about a clean up / take out the trash? A couple of examples - there are more General discussion - Car Folie (pinned) - created 8 Jan 2011, user indicated business has closed on 15 Nov 2018 General discussion - Bimmersport Downtime - created 22 May 2016, last post 20 Dec 2016, hopefully resolved by now? News - Bimmersport News RSS feed - created 2 Jul 2007, unsurprisingly this no longer works. The FORUM RULES (yes all caps) - created 19 Nov 2008, the formatting of the post is awful and there's some real strange stuff in there (e.g. Warez - good memories) For Sale - Bimmersport 2013 Wall Calendars on Sale Now - 28 Nov 2012, yea For Sale - Bimmersport T-shirts - 8 Feb 2007, assuming no longer available, etc. Thoughts? And before the usual about how busy the mods are with family, etc. I'm happy to do this.

NZ New six-pack compact; coming up to 193km. Here's a link to the specs: https://www.mdecoder.com/decode/ae21063 factory sports suspensions and seats (tho not M sport). I've not had it long, but circumstances have changed (our other car is now a Swift), so I need something more practical. It drives well and is reasonable nick for the km's - sporadic service history but it looks like someone's looked after it. With a little love (and perhaps a third pedal), it could be a wee cracker.

This was on trademe for 2.5k not long ago in Christchuch iirc. Guessing he's added on his expenses to the price with some profit. Paint\panel are poor (it had a major respray patch failure on the left rear quarter if memory serves). All this guy has done is take pictures in the dark to hid the fact along with a weak ass description rather present it how it is.

I'd offer to buy it off you if I saw it too ?

I can't think of a good reason to have wood in a modern car but that certainly looks better than most you see around so props on that.

Nice job, the open pored / matt look is certainly a lot more modern than the glossy wood - that's sooooo last year.

Very valid points and can't say I disagree. if I could have a brand new M3 or a F. Id get the M3 hands down, but secondhand ownership is a different story.

I have gone through and removed and un-pinned a lot of the old stuff at the top of the various sub-forums. Some stuff is pretty old, but still quite relevant / helpful so I have left it at the top. If there is anythig i have missed, let me know - either post it in here or drop me a pm and i'll have a look.

Thanks guys! M3AN, everything done has been under my ownership and everything I can do myself has been done by me!

Keep the packaging and chuck the badges in the bin. Last about 5 mins in NZ conditions. As with most things in life, you get what you pay for.

more surprising is that the odo actually works

I got the parents to buy an IS350, it's nice enough, good engine (can do a high 13s 1/4 mile!) but the suspension and handling is way softer than an IS-F Interior is fine, but the dash board lacks character. I think the ugliest part of them are the huuuggee wing mirrors and the stupid position they mount on the doors, don't know why they couldn't mount smaller ones on the corners where the glass ends, like all other cars, far better looking

Terrific car, very firm suspension and ride but that is the appeal, I think they are really nice as an overall package, great 8 speed direct drive automatic / tiptronic gearbox, very quick shifts and that motor sounds super sweet, can sound better with the single middle section of the exhaust removed. Only thing I dont really like is the interior, it's fine, but just seems a bit generic, exterior nice enough, pleasant car but I don't think the design is as good as the E92 M3 etc.

i dont see a HUGE benefit to upgrade to an E9x M3 from my M135i, my car is newer, comfortable, quick, can fit more and is practical. of course its not a V8 but still sounds good and doesnt cost as much to maintain. Still really highly rate these hatchbacks for anyone in the 20-30k price range market.

also once yu turn the car off, parked on the side of the road, push the indicator stalk up to first setting and then up again (will spring back to the first setting again), and youll find the park lights on the right hand side of the car only have come on. this is on all BMWs i have tried it on from the E30 onwards, and is also common on many other european cars too. symbol is P<
