Normal... the car isn't six months old...it's 7 years old. It's called catch up on maintenance

So for the past 18 months I’ve had a 1988 E30 coupe project to replicate a Alpina B3 2.7 and have thought for a while I should create a plog.. but maybe the horse has bolted.. maybe I’ll get around to it.. But with buying my long held ambition and first M3 along with some inspirational plogs particularly by KwS and M3AN I could/should/would. So picking up the baton, in this case KwS’s old E36 M3 and with thanks to mzhu031 for selling it. So this was taken the day I brought it 4th April You know I’ve never had a white car and would’ve liked a racing white M3 but not for $38k lol. I have had silver and imho easy to keep looking clean. I like that it’s on 8.5’s all round but not convinced with the polished style 24s tbh maybe they’ll grow on me. I had it checked by a local Indie which highlighted a few issues all fixable Mechanically it’s in good shape and my early stage plan is to fix the above and tidy up the exterior and interior plus a few other enhancements in no particular order - Mount front lip - Replace rear shock mounts including reinforcement plates DONE - Replace rear shock absorbers with Bilstein B6’s (Bilstein B6 struts front, stock springs all round tbc) - Replace front tyres with Yokohama AD08Rs (matching new rears) - Screws for front valance - Front subframe reinforce and repair - Clean engine bay and detail - Service fluids engine, gearbox, lsd diff - Source 2nd hand front bumper support brackets, highbeam covers - Repair LH door card - Replace steering wheel with 3 spoke DONE - Clean interior including steam clean carpet and seats - Re-trim front seats - M3 floor mats - Check spark plugs, distributor & rotor - Respray boot lid and front valance - Replace brake rotors and pads - Replace exhaust back box Have completed a few of these in a burst of enthusiasm and posted under “what I did today” forum.

a pulley and coolant tank on a car that's done 60k in 7yrs is pathetic unless your looking through BMW rose tinted glasses. We all know and expect those things to fail through unfortunate experience but its hardly fair to expect a new bmw owner to realize that and just call it maintenance because to nearly any other brand its not expected. Its a small town runabout and should be judged against its competition for expected maintenance. its hardly an M3

Do you mean you wish you went genuine? Bosch is the OE Manufacturer, along with Valeo, depending on model. FWIW I’ve bought one set of BMW e46 wipers, and one set of BMW e60 wipers from NZ dealers. I get about a year out of them, I use Rain-X on the screen and BMW washer fluid in the tank. I bring them in myself, I think the apparent margin is too great.

Yeah I am saying that. Most blades I’ve bought from Repco and the like are circa $40-50 bucks and after six months they are hopeless. If you can even find anything that fits your car there. Yup, you can purchase them (BMW blades) online and ship them in for less but I needed them at the time, so had to pay the premium to get them over the counter.

VTNZ wof check for my partner's Mazda Poo (2). Passes with an advisory that rear brake pads will need replacing in the next 12 months. It has drum brakes in the rear.

KM doesnt tell the whole story though. Could've been sitting rotting for a long period, or sitting in traffic with lots of engine hour and few KM. Totally agree with Glenn though, all of that stuff is deferred maintenance that is catching up now.

Oh boy, wish I had the money. Proper trans, proper amount of doors, and not black. Swoon. E: I haven't run the options, but is that some sort of extended leather? Looks like stitched leather instead of the usual polished metal dash trim?

Lol, maybe I need to read my own posts! Though the notched covers had worked but maybe not. I'm guessing it's a seal or something, maybe between glass and light body? Yeah I did a spreadsheet ages ago on the total spent. It was a little shocking, but meant all the important parts had been done. I don't know if Mark ever received the front lip mounting hardware I sent, I suspect it was lost in the mail >_< It's a good car and made damn good power on the Dyno

VTNZ, jeez I've had them write down on the WoF form that it's a litre and a half low on oil. They don't even know how to read a dipstick. Better they stick to their core function! Thankfully I've never had any stupid observations about suspension component replacements, and my local always seems to have a BMW keen-bean. B12 Pro Kit must be nice, Brent. Given there'd be a TUV cert for it, shouldn't be hard to run that against the standards and guidelines. Thankfully they've never blinked at my Volvo, self-levelling (Nivomat) also removed. They were self-contained units with soft springs; replaced with Sachs OEM & H&R Sportsprings.

I asked my Bridgestone dealer about them a couple of weeks ago, he said he hadn't had enough feedback on them yet to be able to recommend them. I'm waiting with interest.
