A few years back I bought a bunch of genuine BMW GT1 units from a computer recycler overseas. All but one was working and the rest had smashed touch screens. I managed to salvage all but one of them (broken mainboard) and replaced the units with brand new genuine lcd panels and genuine touch screen panels and repair the hard drives. I further sourced genuine Sincon 28V power supplies for these. (Extremely hard to find) I was going to repack the batteries but have never gotten around to it - so the batteries are dead. You therefore have to use the units with the docking station only. The units originally came with genuine v57 DIS discs inside the cd drive and together with a set of genuine v44 coding discs I had I modified it to have both diagnostics v57 (up to around Feb 2008 cars) and v44 coding. (Discs not included with sale). The units will also come with a genuine yellow diagnostic head but replica cables from ebay for that authentic experience (these can be used wirelessly unlike the clone heads) Are these better than your laptop version vmware DIS? Yes and no, but you can’t beat the cool and nostalgic factor of having a genuine BMW diagnostic system. The asking price is therefore a reflection of these being a bit of a collectable so it is not for everyone - so leave comments about the price in your head thanks! I have seen working units of these sell on ebay for over us$2000 but I am asking less of course. Genuine working diagnostic heads alone can go for $1000 or more. So you will get: 1 x Group Tester One with new lcd and touch screen loaded with genuine v57 and with v44 coding capabilities( BMW, mini and RR) 1 x Docking Station 1 x Genuine Yellow diagnostic head 1 x Replica OBD2 and 20 pin round plug cable $1200 firm Keyboard NOT included

Thrashed a rental 2019 corolla over the crown ranges today. Stuck it in sport mode, slapped the transmission into manual and was prepared to be thoroughly underwhelmed. Smashed the go pedal and started tapping through the gears, and it was wickedly responsive, nearly like a DCT! bang bang bang.. and there were 9 of em! Only a little bit of slip, and it changed cogs in milliseconds. Very impressed by what I thought would be a horrid slushbox. Got home and googled what kind of insane box this was and how they fitted so many cogs in it ... Its a friggin CVT! My world has been shattered.

I bought this intending on turning it into a coffee table, but the wife says a big fat “no bloody way” so out it goes! Has a dent on the inner side - very repairable (about $250-300) $150 takes it face of the rim is actually quite clean (that’s bird poo on there lol)

All good, you would think it would have an ICV because.. like it should! However I figured the problem out! The is a vacuum line on the bottom of one of the Crank Ventilation hoses (the one towards the front of engine on the flexi intake tube after AFM) that I didnt see. It pulled out not up at the top, but around the back bottom of the intake manifold itself. Only found it by tracing each vacuum line individually and found it dangling!

Hey thats not a fair comparison, the BMW genuine part is USD 21.26. But I have no problems going with the 1.47 one haha its actually crazy.

Ok, so obviously i've been trying to sell this car for a bit now, have had more time wasters with this car than any car i have sold previously. A couple of people that were "super keen" have even test driven the car, only to suddenly not be keen based on the KM (i've made the KM pretty clear), or because it's not "A real M" (also obvious from the start). I've been offered as low as 7K, and even a couple of offers in my ballpark that I have accepted, only to never hear from them again. So i'm seriously considering keeping the car for a longer period. That would mean finishing the list of things I want to do to the car (mostly cosmetic stuff), sorting the suspension (upgrading, either BC Golds or maybe Koni, and poly bushes) and a cert. On a whim i popped to Pick A Part today and got a good haul. Turns out they have a coupe there, so grabbed a few things I needed, including the boot carpet and plastic trim.... which means I can finally f**k off the boot install. I still forgot the ambient temp sensor, which was the whole reason i went >_< Next time.

I remember they were so bad that Nissan parts wreckers would pay you $2000 and give you a full manual conversion for your P11 Primera just for your CVT. They would then make a mint from them.

A wee haul from pick-a-part while in Auckland today. Can’t believe how expensive door rubbers are new! These ones are in very good shape along with the headlight lenses. Oh and the warning triangle was on the car’s options list but missing. Plus Mark was good enough to find mouldings, intake boots and engine hoses and leave them out.. what a good bugger! so had to try on the replacement boot emblem. Much tidier. and pop on the high-beam covers I wonder if the fogging is to do with seals on the covers perishing? these ones look ok. I guess some winter rain will be the proof. Also managed to score some trim clips to keep the A pillar cover in place. Hoping rear shocks arrive tomorrow.

Sad day today, my old e34 in Malaysia is going to the breakers, as the drivetrain and interior is shot after it was stolen.

I dont have an ICV in the M30 version, its an (even more primative) "Air Slide Valve", which I understand is the correct adjustment spot. http://bmwfans.info/parts-catalog/E28/Europe/525i-M30/R-A/apr1983/browse/engine/cooling_system_water_hoses#1272103_8 Im going to double check the fuel rail is tightened properly.. I suspect one of the bolts threaded out when reinstalling.

When do we get pics of its new found glory?... not that we can see the clutch, but the bumper and visible things? Have you got a phone that doesn't run on steam yet? I still have it on my profile avatar!
