221188 km Installed modLight2 module today: https://modbmw.com/shop/modlight2/ Since I've already spliced the GROM unit into the stereo harness in the dash I opted to splice this into the CD changer loom in the boot, which turns out is way easier/roomy. I've since added a zip tie to keep it there. It's a bit of a one time program so I'm too concerned about having it mounted upside down. Features: Mirrors fold with long press of the key fob, unfold upon unlocking 'Follow me' style lights when locking and unlocking (you can have the thing light up like a disco ball..I have just opted for the default which is park lights on unlock and high beams on lock.) Custom welcome message which is a bit of a lol. That's all i've signed up for at the moment, i might change the courtesy indicator to 3 clicks but I'm not fussed. Conclusion: The sunroof and window close function still work with the long press of the key fob and the Grom unit still runs as it should which was a relief. I'm really happy with this little upgrade. Makes the car feel a touch more modern than it is. I'll upload a video of it working in action soon.

Picked up a Ryobi 50L 2hp unit, found under shelf at bunnings, complete with a few tools in the box, for $229... pretty sure it was miss-priced (had no tag etc!).. but didnt want to pull on that thread so took it straight to check out and walked out door

That's our punishment for not supporting local businesses.. Well, despite dealing with useless f**ks at fedex I saved over $1400 on parts buying oseas for a full set of front Lemforder suspension parts.

Its a road car so yes diff ratio will change. Clutch seems easy but still unsure what flywheel to get but M30 seems like an option. I really feel I should replace the G220 but as I have one still tempted.

Im not sure if they still make these, but when i did my E36 M 5 stud swap on my E30. I got these B8s from Autolign: http://web1.carparts-cat.com/default.aspx?10=849C90BC30684D06A390EFC14A976D15018001&12=2192&14=1&230=28&1116=22040107&1153=&1271=70&1272=&1273=&tp_articlesearch%24txt_articleSearch=22040107 Part number: 22-040104 supersedes to 35-044031 I did run my my sway bar link to my control arms if it makes a difference to you.

Just to help you with part numbers, Bilstein don't make a B8 shock for the E36 (despite what the US sites market them as). They do make a B6 though which is suitable for lowering springs and B4's which are suitable for stock springs. You can make up a B8 set by using Z3M front B8's and E46 M3 rear B8's but it's difficult to find perfect springs for that combo. The "E36 B8's" on US sites are B6 part numbers. http://web1.carparts-cat.com/default.aspx?11=18&10=CAA15FE554904382B0FB9ABF5CC3B1AB018001&14=1&12=100

Basically what I have planned for one of mine too..... Thing to remember with the Getrag boxes is that the number is the theoretical "safe" amount of torque they can handle, so you'd be better off with a Getrag 250 over a 220. Having said that, I had a 220 in my 328i sedan (small mods, nothing super serious) and it withstood the abuse I gave it. Weak point was the M4X clutch which would occasionally slip. For a daily driver with the occasional abuse, the Getrag 250 box should be more than enough, gear ratios almost identical to the ZF, and they came factory in some E36's (I've pulled one from an early 325i, and there's one in my 316Ti). Clutch/flywheel combo I'll leave up to you as there's a stack out there that can be made to work, the only other thing to think about is your starter may actually need changed to suit the flywheel, and you'll want to swap to a manual diff ratio - assuming it's not a track car that is.

Carbon ceramic brakes - "will last lifetime of vehicle". Get them to guarantee that in writing because it's the most stupid street car option imaginable when replacement costs are north of $8k. And I bet they're about as "lifetime" as BMW fluids.

The reason I've started to use Auto38 is simply the level of experience, care and passion that Jon brings to working on Bimmers. Difference between a craftsman and people doing a job ...
