I really think all the GST palaver being lobbied by the cry baby new Zealand shops collective won't be as effective as they imagine to get people to shop locally. A 15% increase? Things I import are sometimes half the price of local. If the price is within 15% I tend to just buy locally anyway to avoid the delay and simplify returns or warranty issues. Plus I often put things through my business and I get the gst back anyway. If they streamline the process, and drop the $60 broker fee, which often is damn close to the GST being collected I'll give zero f**ks.

Been a month of waiting on items from the USA. Decided to give Youshop a go again after a break from them. Big mistake. They send me a notice that customs fees and gst are due, won't tell me how much or how to pay. For an additional $60 they will gain you that privilege, by being your 'broker' LOL LOL get f u c k e d ! Or, you can do it your self. So I did. Send through the required info, then get the automatic reply saying they are a week behind in processing. Wait a week, and still nothing. Grrrrrr. So as we know 1st of December is the 'cut-off' date from avoiding gst and other fees for items < ~$400. So yep, understandable, lots of orders coming in.... No issues with paying the gst, but waiting for 2 weeks for some c**t to process some fees is pretty piss poor.

Now that the clear lenses are done - I am out of control - adding things to Bimmersport only days after my last note! ! No seriously, I found out recently that much to my chagrin, one of my foglight lenses were broken. Fortuitously, my mechanic is mates with the owner of Umnitza - who runs his business nearby (they sell after-market lights, body-kits, wheels , etc). In a nutshell, Matt the owner is a great guy - and we hit it off by virtue of having many things in common - not to mention he also owned a now -deceased E39 M5 also in Bluewater! Matt recommended I try one of his new LED offerings for the E39. Despite a different tone to the factory Hella headlights, I quite like it.

Got new tyres for the E30, Michelin Classic MXV3-A in 195/65R14. They're reproductions of the original OE tyres.

Yeah that's the issue I had with most places overseas (and actually some locally as well), very expensive shipping which isn't that surprising given the size and weight. partscontainer (NewParts) on Ebay for the rotors. Rock Auto for pads + sensors.

Hey team So managed to get some more work done over the weekend. Got the front timing covers on, valve covers finally cleaned and painted, dropped my flywheel and clutch set up along with a mates to MP auto hopefully Greg and his team can make a custom setup to handle the supercharger and my mates drifting abuse. Also toyed around with the idea of flipping the supercharger upside down. Austin mentioned that the AMG guys have trouble with heat soak due to intercooler sitting in the valley pan area. It actually could work, now top mount intercooler, cut off AMG intakes and fab up a custom intake plenums to connect straight from the intercooler outlets which would solve the adapter plate issue which wasn't going to be cheap to machine up and the R&D to figure dimensions was going to be hard too.

Hunted down some crackly speaker in the passenger front door. Turns out is tweeter, checked connection and gave it a tighten, also took some treble out of the mix. Also replaced foam around said tweeter as the factory foam had turned to dust. Snapped 4 old clips putting door on had to break out the spares, fiddly damn things.

Buy exactly what Beisan says to buy, including any uprated BMW parts. Have you checked if BMW will actually install it for you? I'd be very surprised if they said yes. You really want somebody that has done it before to do it for you, that'll be much faster, less expensive and less risky. If you simply can't find somebody with experience then you need a trusted shop and they need to read and understand the entire procedure before they give you a quote. Most will simply say "no" when they see the procedure. Don't do a cash job, you need CGA cover if your engine goes boom. If you're handy it's a good job to do yourself. The alternative, which will take your car off the road for a while, is to remove the unit, send it to somebody (like Kayne Barrie) and have them rebuild it and send it back. An off the shelf rebuilt unit will be expensive... not a route I'd go down. Regardless of what the instructions say make sure you use a new valve gasket kit.

Long time since update, even though some work has been done. Things are slowing down, as we found out we're pregnant and my wife is currently having a hard time dealing with the nausea - which means I'm running laps around her, providing everything she needs at whatever hour she needs it. As a result, my garage time no longer exists, or at least is split into very brief visits. Changes since last update: Purple rack has made it into the car Style 68 wheels have made it onto the car Some dashboard light bulbs have been replaced, and some have been ordered and are pending replacement I've been trying to decide what's next, whether to focus on the exterior (which is in very poor shape), suspension or engine. It was easy to decide when an E46 with M54B30 came up for sale for a very decent price. Even if the engine will be unusable due to the issues the previous owner highlighted, at least i'll have all the wiring, ECUs and auxiliaries necessary to do the swap. So currently I'm (very slowly) diagnosing the M54B30 - it drove home just fine, but apparently if you add oil above the minimum line it will start smoking from the exhaust. So far I've pulled the coils and plugs out, in an attempt to drain the plug holes from oil - I'll be compression testing it, then seeing whether it actually has issues, or just needs some new gaskets. The spark plug is still in the hole in this picture - it's just covered to the top ?

2185XX km Few cosmetic things tidied up today. Bonnet resprayed It was always a little dull but it really has faded to the point it was starting to get a big rust patch in it. The Body Stable in Miramar did the work. Before: After: Seemed like a good time to put some gloss black grills in and new badge. New mirror glass: The last one I got to replace the leaking one was for the smaller mirrors, now we are back to big mirrors on both side Steering wheel: I wanted the facelift one but with the airbag recall and not what it was murky waters. I picked this up for a bargain on trademe and fitted my airbag which isn't a takata defective one. Big difference is this has no leather missing from the wheel itself and also has some nice tri colour trim. I gave it a going over with the toothbrush before installing. before: after:

Todays effort, Unleash the parts cannon! Slow going getting the Diff back in, Kayne did a nice job with the Quaife innards swap (quick turn around too!) The bush kit has a big ass washer between diff rear mount and the subframe, its a mare to get in and lined up while balancing diff on jack and jiggling it around to get holes to line up. Shocks and springs fall in though, which is a pleasant change! Back ends pretty much done now, other than covers and exhaust... Just the clutch, box, shifter rebuilt, front struts, water pump, thermostat, m3 LCAs, and an oil change to go now!
