Car is back on the road. Another receipt for the folder... Looking at this photo I'm guessing that left broken mount is what they said they needed to weld up. Went home via VTNZ for a WOF. Got pulled up on the LED halo lights and the headlight adjusters need to be replaced, but it was a pass. I see the notes say the brake hoses need doing soon too. So nice to have remote locking and stereo controls on the steering wheel again. Fingers crossed this drum lasts longer than 40,000 km.

I'm a long term road cyclist and part time mountain biker - but in these cases you've mentioned, you can't combat stupid. There are a lot of "new" cyclists on these things that simply haven't a clue...

While I'm prepping the next updates, here are a couple of the other cars I've built. Both of these were from bare (stripped) shells, full respays in and out, new interiors and engine rebuilds down to the last nut and bolt. Each took 2 years. The black Evo 3 ran high 10's at 200kph and scared the crap out of me on a regular basis. Sold back in 2010. Probably should've kept the white one, only 26,000 km and one of 5 RHD sunroof Evo 6's in Australasia. Sold back in 2015.

Ended up sending the pump to Car Computers, in Taupo. Kerry at Mosens did removal of old pump (noting some bone dry lines in the process) and install of reconned pump this week. great turn around from Car Computers and Mosens However, this didn't completely fix the issue as the booster diaphram was also playing up. This was also replaced today. brakes are now working as expected again, with ok feel in the pedal and great bite. No sinking pedal when sitting at the lights either. Finally able to make proper use of the new pads and rotors. EDIT - took the car fopr a strop out Peackcoks road on the way home from work last night. Brakes felt amazing, lots ofstopping power and really good responsevnes. Wore the bulbs out so got a brake lights warning on the dash with 2 new bulbs needed today lol

A great buy for someone. Hopefully they get restored and put back on the road. And whoever the buyer is, please document your progress on here so we can enjoy the journey with you.

Depends on the person i suppose, none of the E46 and E39's ive used PS4's were technically sports cars but having more grip is always an advantage to me especially if you have make an emergency maneuver in the wet etc. Certainly better street rubber available that costs even more and i think PS4 are fairly well priced in comparision.

Ben, are they M60- or M62-powered? NZ new or UK imports? Either way, if these are both factory manuals then they're very rare cars. Only 54 manual RHD's built with M60 engine Only 3 manual RHD's built with M62 engine

When these were released in NZ a new Leaf was $79k, so that was actually very reasonable!!

So I drove one on Sunday (thank you) at the Akl coffee casual and paint me impressed. I'm not sure I like the look but I found little to dislike about the experience. It's not a race car but it wears that on its sleeve, that's not what it's for. It's quite quick, feels ultra modern and is almost silent. It's not as flash as a modern Tesla (by a bit to be honest) but as a point-to-point commuter it would do just fine. And I have free charging at work, bonus. Regenerative braking takes some getting used to, I stopped short without even touching the middle pedal. ? But only at 30% of the new cost, because 90k is (was?) ridiculous. Oh, and crash it and it will be a write-off. ?
