It must be nearly impossible for Turners to hire staff that actually know about cars, you know, because they all work at Repco....???

Thought I'd check the front passenger side suspension out the easy way, turns out just needs control arm bushes...... Angle is a lot more sketchy than it appears, camera just doesn't do it justice. Was a bit of fun, and simply just drove straight out (after being told I wouldn't be able to hahaha)

The summer spruce up initiative started today with rear wheel off the car (BBS style 42 on an E39) for a inner barrel degrease, wash, clay bar and wax. Not sure it has ever been done ? so hasn't come up perfect by any means. But a good stop gap until I can get a full wheel refurbishing done. Will do fronts later this week. Also gave the guard liners a bit of a scrub, very dirty also.

Chucked one if these in yesterday along with new power steering lines so hopefully no more leaks. Made some wheel alignment adjustments. So far seems good

My guess is the description is just an automated template based on the tick boxes they use to list the features... I doubt anyone is even reviewing it :S

Wow! Thanks for the swift and comprehensive responses! It it really appreciated. ? FYI, I picked up a 2006 525i on Friday 20th and drove it back from Auckland yesterday. Excellent drive and now I must get to know the foibles of owning an E61. It did come with a full-sized, matching five-spoke, 17in alloy which the previous owner had bought, but had strangely neglected to get a wheel brace and jack at the same time. As such my first 'official' stop was Euro1 in Auckland to rectify that oversight. Attached is a photo of my car by the Makohine Viaduct just south of Mangaweka. A long day, but GOOD!!!

Looks like a standard reservoir so i would think its std hydraulic also. Why would you want anything else on one of these.

I've just ordered an Avin unit for my 130, I think they're the generally preferred brand (and it's Android 9.0) - https://avinusa.com/ DHL tells me it'll be delivered on Monday (with no GST), I'll provide a first impressions when I get it, they review well.

quite the opposite. they're trying to appeal to someone who'll buy it without knowing what they're in for!

Nice, way faster gear changes I dont think any of the "performance" bits were factory options, all dealer stuff. The only real spec other than base/sport and Msport was a Europe only LE, which is E81 130 with bmw performance wheels, cool lemon yellow leather, carbon black paint and silver line trim.

Finally managed to get some decent garage time over the week-end after a very hectic number of months. Friday night finished spraying the repaired lips of the Alpina reps from the Convertible ready for new boots on Saturday morning. Silver paint has gone a bit funny in placesa, fingers crossed a good cut and polish with sort that out. Saturday morning off to P&S Autocentre to get the above mentioned new boots fitted, Hankook asymmetrical somethings as Toyo don't offer 205/40/17s. Whils there in amongst the talking rubbish with the GCs in the workshop I cut a replacement section off an E30 donor car thanks to Pete's pick-a-part @P&S. Note to self - need to buy a sabre-saw they are heaps of fun! After chopping the rear quarters out of the E30 race car to fit the FRP panels I had a re-think of how / where to fit them onto the car, so this panel is basically to go back onto the car to replace a bit (too much...) that I cut off. Saturday PM, cleared up and cleaned out the garage to get enough room to start working on the race car again in earnest and put stuff away properly rather than just dumping stuff randomly until it's not possible to move about any more. Started sizing up the FRP panels and the quater panels to be 100% sure where to cut and join stuff. Finished moving stuff around and started drilling out spot welds on replacement panel when the Mrs. informed me she will be wanting the spare garage fridge to be operational for Christmas - that's right, the fridge that had just been buried behind a stack of wheels and tyres, suspension and body parts. Sunday, took the convertible for a spin around the block to start getting ready for new boots and WoF for summer. Whilst it was out of the garage cleaned all the crap off the floor and moved all the stuff out of the way of the fridge. WIth the garage all clean and tidy it enabled me to get my bench pillar drill out to end-mill the spot welds off so as to leave a better finish for welding. Fingers crossed I can make some progress over Christmas hols, will resurrect the race car thread and add some more photos in there!
