Car threw a CEL the other day for cat efficiency, which happens when the secondary O2 sensors (post cat) throw spaz numbers. Ive seen it before when I was stuck in the wops without a supply of 98, had to run 95 ,which near instantly threw the CEL. Plugged bimmergeeks protools into it last week and coded out the cat check... and it appears to have worked... which now obviously means I need to remove the cats! ... be rude not to replace them with some equal length headers. FWIW, Ive had Carista/Carly etc in the past, and Protools is yearrrrs better than both of them. Pricing structure is a one off, and its way more powerful, very recommended.

Weird, that you think a totally disproportionate response was appropriate. And being snide is below your station, leave the attitude at the front door would you. The warning you sent me which resulted in this mess was for a post that was not offensive, a point made obvious by the fact that you didn't bother to edit or remove the post. If either you or Jon had the courtesy to advise me what you found so offence I would have happily edited the posts myself, it's not like anything needed urgent or dramatic attention. You don't need URL's for my posts threads, they should all be restored, they shouldn't have been hidden in the first place. I still can't access PM's.

I have never thought Politics or Religion discussions should be allowed on this Automotive Forum. There are other discussion groups on the internet where you can express your views. There needs to be an adjustment of the Forum Rules section on a number of subjects. These are in need of an upgrade

A couple of times Dave has said something I disagree with, and both times I have discussed the subject with him in the relevant thread. Dave is straight up and doesn't bs and I appreciate that because I am the same way, and this place should be all about the discussion. I am a huge proponent of free speech, and if he was banned for previous comments then that is ridiculous as we are all entitled to our opinions. He also is happy to help others, and has helped me out in the past, and has good knowledge and insights to share with the community. I also consider him a friend, so Dave if you are reading this, we miss you and want you back.

When the blowback is worse than the original “crime”. ?

the biggest issue i see is no-one wants to take responsibility for anything. Multiple times i have spoken to different admins about things and its all "speak to this person", or "speak to that person". No-one really seems to know whats going on or who is really running things and you end up in a loop getting nowhere. Biggest and best thing that could happen to this forum is having an ***active*** owner involved, someone who is going to stand-up and take responsibility. Not knocking the admins for what they do but i think things would be alot better if there was some more direction and more information/help available when requested

Hey Team, I've been out and about looking for a heavy duty tow hack/paddock basher of the sort. Have found a couple of E70s I really like the look of, facelift, new iDrive etc, and then also F15s...F15s in the price range are generally high KM and I'm not clued up on them at all. I know they changed over from the M57 to the N57 in around 2010. Is there much of a muchness in terms of change? Anything to watch out for? Have 'driven' BMW diesels but never owned one... Are they good, long lasting motors and vehicles? I've seen a few around that 200km mark so hoping this is true to tale. Will be generally towing up to 2.2T max if anything, but the ability to have 3.5T is good on the off chance I need to move my house, and also the downforce weight abilities as occasionally I'll throw a Dirtbike on the back with just the rack - circa 110-120kgs of weight. Is it weird that I'm scared to touch a diesel BMW knowing I know nothing over my old high maintenance S54s ?

Yeah, it's the rest of the car (interior etc) that always worries me. I am somewhat more interested in this thread because I am dipping my toe in the market for a SUV again - I can wait though... I am interested to see what prices do. That would be my advice - if you don't need to make a decision right now, wait. I bet prices (especially on E70's) will come back a bit more.

Most customers with f15s were getting 70-100km of driving but it all depends on how you drive. Same with tyres, some getting 60+ others getting 20km If you check the servicing menu in the idrive will give you an approximate distance left on the brakes

this is a good rule of thumb. internet is a wonderful but also potentially nasty place. lets keep it the former.

As a general point it is worth mentioning what constitutes being “offensive”. It is not a case of whether the person posting finds it offensive, but whether others reading the same post might do so. To avoid issues it is better to err on the side of safety and set a slightly lower bar. Hell, if I used my own personal standards of what’s offensive then there would be hardly any members. The chances of a small Kiwi web-site being involved in legal action over what is posted is pretty remote I would suggest. However, there is still a moral obligation to prevent offence being caused, whether intentional or accidental.

You seem to forget that I tried to do that very thing, but you then responded with an abusive rant. At that point it was clear that there was no reasoning with you. The fact that other members had both called you out on your comments and raised reports on them would suggest that action was necessary. After numerous posts had been edited, not just yours, gentle reminders and general warnings had been put in the thread you still carried on. Was always a slippery slope when the thread moved from how lockdown was affecting peoples lives into politics. FWIW I didn’t touch any account settings, wouldn’t even know how to tbh. Thought you’d packed a sad and taken your ball home with you.

A point to watch out for, not all X5 are rated for 3.5t towing, car needs to have option “Increased Towing Capacity” code 223 or 233 I think it was. Usually combined with 3AC the factory tow bar. Beefs up a few areas of the car, especially the cooling systems.

This thread has made me pro-1-series. Such an awesome example.

sounds a bit like our lovely government. oh whoops. not supposed to talk about politix here
  20. 1 point
Weird, you were warned twice in the political thread and then it subsequently restricted your posting and hid all posts started by you. I've re-instated your e87 thread, if anyone has the links handy to the other internationally acclaimed posts, link them here and i'll fix them. As per Glenn, the forum needs new leadership.

I am also keen to help out if required

I have also spoken to Ollie Graham. I can offer more support as well if needed
  23. 1 point
I've spoken with Ollie a few times over this. I'm keen to be involved, but don't have (access to) the investment it might need. I suggested taking a role as an admin, allowing Ollie to be more of a sleeping partner than he is now, and will follow up on that.

The funny thing here Dave....... it’s not the first time something like this has happened. I believe a similar thing happened to another extremely valuable member of the forum several years back. maybe there needs to be a changing of the guard?

Yup. It will be. I filled an entire underground garage with white smoke when I reconnected a failed one.

Interesting thread... Between the 14th and 20th of April @E30 325i Rag-Top and @BreakMyWindow screwed around with my account. I received a number of "warnings" for various posts (none of which seemed to break any rules). You can see two of the warnings here: http://bimmersport.co.nz/profile/14-m3an/ but some have been removed. On approx. 17th of April my post and messaging privileges on the site were removed by @BreakMyWindow without cause or explanation, the whole site became read-only to me. I still do not have access to PM's at all (read or send). A few days later (approx 20 April) my two vehicle posts (M3 and 130i - as per my signature) became unavailable to all users, logged in to BS or not. They are still unavailable. (this may have happened at the same time as my read-only ban, I didn't check at the time) On approx 25 April I used the 'contact us' message to the site admins to ask what was going on. I received no acknowledgement or reply. Nobody told me I was banned, nobody told me why I was banned, nobody told me I was unbanned and nobody told me why they hid/deleted/removed my vehicle threads (not all my threads, just those two in particular). A great deal of respect shown there. Look, I hold out hope that all this was a mistake and monumental cock-up but the lack of engagement and follow-up really makes me wonder. Regardless, I'm happy to leave if people want me to leave but it seems like an abuse of power to me, some accountability would be respected. I may have rubbed some people up the wrong way in my time (unapologetic) but I've been a meaningful and (mostly) positive contributor here for nearly two decades and I had two really valuable threads that were internationally respected. If this is how the BS staff want to treat their loyal user base then I'm happy to move on, just say it out loud. Unless the situation is explained properly and my threads are restored I'm wondering why I should even bother. Hence the lack of recent contribution. The ball is in Bimmersport's court. Thanks for standing in my corner @sweetm3.
