Alignment done (at Autolign Mount Wellington) so it's no longer dangerous! Alignment guys actually had to wind the toe out before they could get an initial reading it was so bad! They didn't think my settings were silly suggesting I'll get pretty aggressive turn-in with perhaps mild understeer when really pushing the front end and I'm good with that. They were very complimentary about the coilovers, said they were some of the nicest they've seen from a brand they've never heard of. They said the shock bodies were massive and that's a very good sign and they even mused whether they might have even been hand built. The accompanying hardware (adjusters etc) are also high quality aluminium and apparently easy to use. Anyway, they did everything I asked for but interestingly couldn't dial in as much front camber as I expected. And they tried but couldn't get every measurement perfect on each side... I have 0.1 degrees less camber on the left than on the right, they suggested (cheekily) that with the driver in the car that would even out. ? I'll scan the sheet when I next go into the office but in the meantime: Front toe: 10' toe out (-0.6mm) Front camber: L -1*06' R -1*12' Rear toe: 7' toe in (0.4mm) Rear camber: -1*48' Also evened out the rear end by lifting the RHS by 10mm and the LHS by 6mm. That's also more rear camber than I expected but I'm not concerned about it unless it causes me traction problems which I'll test out when I take it for a proper drive on the weekend. ?

I dont usually get into my real bugbears but as a Hunter and firearms owner I am so disappointed by the Police over the granting of a Licence to the Christchurch Terrorist. I do admit to having a Dog in this fight so to speak, and I personally know the previous Police Inspector in charge of firearms. He had backed up everything that Stuff published last week regarding the poor performance of Police in checking Tarrant's background. He should never have been given a licence yet Minister Nash keeps coming forward and saying everything was done correctly. Firearms ownership is a very divisive and emotional subject with people having very strong opinions either way, I get that. What annoys me is that internally Police would have know pretty quickly if things were done correctly and the Government would have known as well. I guess we will have clearer indication when the Royal Commission reports but I am convinced someone is telling lies.

Its begun E30 in shed last night, rear lights bumper trim etc off for rust inspections. Not as bad as thought. Motor wiring disconnected, will drain fluids and disconnect exhaust and driveshaft tomorrow night. Motor out by weekend. Purchased these a couple weeks back, also have the rear seat to unstitch for cloth repairs Rolling chassis by next week, better start doing the detent refresh on the ZF and get the rust repaired.

That's a beautiful looking car, but I am biased towards E92s. I have a stage 1 plus tune and have tried it at stage 2 and 2 plus and I am with Matthew. My 335i runs a few mods, Intercooler, charge pipe, PCV and oil catch can and M3 control arms. What my car is missing is a LSD. I have driven an LSD E92 and its a bigger step forward than a stage2 plus tune. Its easy to want extra HP, I do understand the attraction but you will struggle to get it down, go for the LSD next.

Hi all, I have been offered to make an offer on an old e28. I have not viewed the car yet (hopefully will be seeing it next week) so I'm not sure what to expect. Putting a price on it is the bit I'm struggling with. There is only 1 535 on trade me for 14k. Any chance I could get your opinions on price for a below average condition, an average condition and an excellent condition. Keeping in mind it is only a 520. Any help is greatly appreciated.

I looked at options for 100m2 shed and went with a builder in the end. JB construction in Upper Hutt. Really good guy to deal with and honest, I also have a Versatile shed, would not use them again.

Gave back some respect to the M3 by replacing the 1er style 207's with a spare set of style 24's and semi slicks I had lying around. Much better.

Bilt Hamber is incredible stuff. Hammerite I’ve only used on ships, but with great results.

Don't think so, runflats and M car tyres are very good.

Been looking at this a while ago. At the time (last year) the importer/distributor had seized bringing the product in. Ended up buying Bill Hirsch's Miracle Paint. Excellent stuff. You can buy it at http://autops.co.nz/en/ in Onehunga. Call first to see if it is in stock.

Glad I’m not the only one! I tend to hang on to wheels for no apparent reason. “They might come in handy one day!” have 3 sets that don’t fit anything I own, then 14 sets, 10 of which are for BMW’s, and a pair of 13” rs’s and a pair of old trailer wheels since its got 16x9s d windows now. That’s between 5 cars (3x bmw, legacy and hiace) and that’s counting wheels fitted. And a stack of tyres. And I still Keep a lookout for more bmw wheels!!

I had a 1990 South African spec 535is in a very unusual plum type colour and throwing star replica's.. Full body kit and sports interior. It was spec'd incredibly - as a good as a E34 M5. Would have kept it except an opportunity arose to buy my 'first love' - a NZ new M635csi - which I simply could not ignore. I put it on the old 'auto trader' magazine - and it was gone on the first day the magazine sold. Have always wanted to buy an E34 M5 - might buy my friends example in the future. Such a cool car.

Nice car mate! E9X family is here lol ?

Nice. They're awesome cars "Have plans this year to go FBO and stage 2+" I've done this and wish I stopped at stage 1+. I'd recommend sticking with stage 1+ and enjoying it as a street car. Otherwise with the added maintenance, repairs, possible future WOF issues with going catless... you'll wish you just bought an E92 M3 or even an F82 M4 instead

More to the collection this week 17x8 and 17x9 style 32s, wanted these wheels and waited a while, coincidentally found some in the north island with tyres LSD arrived, 3.46 ratio on it, also have a 3.64 medium case for it to go into so will swap the ratios as I think the .64 be too high Will be coming off the road in a couple months to start the swap. Have a detent tool kit coming from member modz, and will get a kit from FCP to do that while its out

I would suggest you book it in with BM Workshop and get a smoke test rather than replacing parts with no result. 95% of any job is accurately diagnosing the fault first. You'll need to book it in soon, they are booked up for 2-3 weeks ATM. Check with Ross or Graham (09) 2716636. I must get a smoke tester

Fuel regulator vacuum hose, elbow on the induction hose for the idle control valve, oil separator valve and the hoses that go onto it. They are the main ones. You can also get leaks from the injector seals, manifold gasket and / or the manifold

BMW Motorsport works driver Alessandro ‘Alex’ Zanardi was involved in a serious road accident in his home country of Italy on Friday, 19 June 2020. He is currently in stable condition at a Siena hospital, but is in a medically-induced coma due to the severe head injuries he incurred. Since the accident, BMW has been in close contact with Alessandro’s family. We are shocked by this news and deeply concerned. Zanardi is a two-time CART champion and former Formula One driver. In 2001, he was involved in a racing accident that resulted in the loss of both his legs. Despite his handicap, he exhibited superhuman determination to recover, designing his own prosthetics and learning to walk again. From 2003 to 2009, Zanardi raced modified BMW race cars and successfully competed in the FIA European Touring Car Championship (FIA ETCC) and the FIA World Touring Car Championship (FIA WTCC) with BMW Motorsport. After a break of four years he returned to racing in 2014 as a BMW works driver and competed in the Blancpain Sprint Series in a BMW Z4 GT3 that was modified to suit his needs. He then competed in the gruelling 24 hours of Spa endurance race in 2015, sharing the cockpit with non-handicapped drivers for the first time. Zanardi’s story is one of fearless human spirit, inspiring us all to reach higher and go further. The thoughts of the global BMW family are with him, his wife and his son during this time.
