If any bimmersporter is after a modern classic super saloon that’s rare and different. https://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/used-cars/bmw/auction-2683404221.htm

Not sure this belongs in “performance” as it seems like ditching the M40 is general maintenance at this point; Looking for some first hand experience putting a M42 into and ex-M40 equipped E30, hopefully someone can help with the following.. 1. Does donor car make any difference since I’m using an E30 318is loom and ECU? Things like sensor locations, updated engine revisions, better spec’d models? 2. Is it possible to use the E36 intake manifold (ie, does it physically fit. Not bothered about which is better out of E30/E36 for performance) 3. Options for exhaust manifolds? Obviously E30 318is but that’s $$, I’ve read M44 potentially works with our RHD models? My goal is a cheap & cheerful repower for a daily driver, not looking for performance so please please keep the “pUt A SiX iN it” and turbo comments to a minimum ?

Gave the interior a good clean, tbh the carpet cleaning was in pretty good condition. And just realised the spare wheel is an OEM style 68 with an eagle f1 245/40/17 on it. Battery is new too. Those two things are probably half the value of the car is when I bought it ?

Well, I'm finally a happy man! Sourced an original centre muffler from a wreckers and had it fitted this week. No more drone while under load and a much more respectable cruising note. It's made such a difference to how I feel driving the car around. Delighted! Thanks to everyone that chimed in and offered advice ?

As title states I’m after a set of fog lights and tail lights both for a facelift model. Anyone know where I could possibly source these from? Any help is appreciated

I modified the rocker cover for my M42 to take the bolts for the COP units without needing the extra plate, I may have posted on here about it when I did it.

I do believe I have a set of 6 COPs bagged up in the container here...

I have found the COP guide I used http://bmwz3diys.weebly.com/coil-on-plug-conversion.html

I may have a spare cop plate. I had two made when mine was done, it's not the prettiest but works fine. I Also have pdf of the dimensions

The land yacht popped its cherry and got a proper old car water leak. Leaves and twigs mushed up blocking the e-box drains leads to water getting in through the firewall. The foam insulation underneath carpet was quite soggy in the footwell area. With a wet vac I extracted about 1l. This could have gone on for a while had the exact same symptoms from the last p-bus wire issue had not came back. I opened up the passenger door loom connection which had moisture, and the foam velcro insulator on the wires was wet which made me take a good look. This is under the e-box in the bulkhead under the cabin filters on passenger side. The visible hole is the ebox drain hole, there’s a rubber tube that locates the e-box to the drain. The bulkhead drains are under the leaves. Getting the e-box out is a shitter job and it won’t even fully come out without disconnecting buried in interior connections. Managed to slide it up on its side to be able to clean up. Hoping the dehumidifier will get some more moisture out and maybe a couple of good days outside with a fan to dry them up.

check the date on the tyre of the spare wheel. could be 2004 production or something which renders it useless as anything other than a spare and even then I wouldnt trust it for anything other than rolling on haha

These wheels are now off to the professionals to repair and repaint properly...! The plastidip has lasted a couple of years, but they're pretty tatty. Working on the colour at the moment.

@zero thought my number one priority was to get it back to bare metal and primered before that rust did any more damage. Looked like it was probably from a repair job done wrong years ago.

The 16s on my Mini are the first set of RFTs i have ever had, all my previous cars, BMWs included, have had any RFT swapped for normal tyres. TBH, with all the hype around how harsh RFTs ride, having just driven 800km across the country in the car, It rides no differently to any other car with similar size tyres. The bigger sidewall likely makes a difference, I can imagine a stiff sidewall RFT on 18s or 19s could be quite harsh, but Im still not convinced that they are the devil like the internet tries to tell me.

I think i read somewhere that z3 ones are a good fit and upgrade. Could be worth looking into

I can confirm M44 exhaust manifold will work, at least on a car with no power steering (although I doubt power steering is an issue). I used ITBs and made a custom wiring loom so cant really advise on these aspects.

Primed and ready. I’ll be handing this off to a painter to spray the colour and clear. Have smoothed out the texture on the corner strips as i’ll be leaving all the side trims colour coded. Glad that’s done. Adhesion promoter coats. This bumper turns out to be a rep. Made of PP means paint doesn’t stick so well. Initial Priming Bog/sand Bog/sand Bog/sand... Touchups with primer and finished results
