    1st Gear
  1. Hi, guys, Can some one help me. Iv got a 1992 318I E36. Its a automatic,It has got a transmission problem. When you drive it about 30 to 50 km/h, when the automatic transmission try to change from 3rd gear to 4th gear or change from 4th gear to over drive. It seems like doesnt like to change gear. It will stay in the 3rd gear, when you continue to accelarate, it will drop the gear to nutral. And if you keep pushing the accelarator until about 6k r/min, it will get back to gear(seems like the overdrive gear). and the warning light on the dash board will be on. The light is a round circle gear with a excalmatory mark inside. I heard about this is a common problem of bimmer's transmission. Can anyone please tell me what is exactly wrong with my transmission?? cheers~ And when the warning light is on. When you take off. You can feel the car has no power at all, feel like drive in the overdrive gear or the 4th gear. Only if you turn the engine off and restart it. The warning light can be off. And you can drive normally again.~
