  1. M5's have a different boot floor/spare wheel well to all other E39s to accommodate the exhaust and this one appears to have the correct exhaust, so was the boot floor changed over as well…?? Swapping the mechanicals/electrics is dead easy, body shell work is a whole other level. It's pretty much identical to mine, I'd still pay the difference in cost between the two to get the 'real' one any day - I guess that makes me one of those car anorak/nerds that Jeremy Clarkson likes to mock

P.S I put a 1UZ into an E34 a few years ago, don't tell the purists but it improved it no end! That was before the days when you could pick up a 540i for next to nothing, doubt you'd do it now...

Good spotting! yes that’s my old M3, used to also belong to Cam here as well. Yip that’s the one, though I think it went through another pair of hands after Graham Peddler sold it. It has a thick folder of receipts and paper work with it that go right back to at least it's early days in NZ, I think the original owner also had an M3 at the same time as owning the M5? It had the turbines on it when I bought it, but the tyres weren't that great and I had the M Parras in the garage from my previous E34 (and to be honest the M Parra is the best wheel ever made... ) At the risk of sounding totally over the top I also have a set of T Stars (M System IIs) with the 9inch rears that I had planned to put the Turbine covers on, will let them go to with the car at the right price.... Heh yeah..... I wish I could keep them both but I have waaay to many cars so the fleet must reduce. Yip standard M5, car is standard other than the wheels on it.

Hi Guys, having recently purchased Davids anthracite E39 M5 I now need to let my E34 go.... Trademe linky: http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing.aspx?id=725938651 Haven't given that much detail in the ad but it's the kinda car only an enthusiast will buy and will most likely know all about already! If anyones interested give me a call and I'll happily answer any questions! Sam
  5. I bought that one! I paid $9.5k for it..... it has full leather though ie door cards, lower dash centre console etc not the part leather with cloth inserts. I too would hope this one is saved, they're a great car, granted they aren't that quick by modern standards (my 330d would slaughter it...) and some parts are expensive but still a fun car to own.
  6. Yes I do like it it’s a fantastic car, it's quick, handles well, is a good easy to live with daily driver, is reliable and is surprisingly economical. However I recently purchased another daily driver so it would become a toy, of which I have several already....
  7. Installing the 6BT next? 1J is for dummy purposes I presume?

    '96 BMW M3 Evo

Hi, If the sale falls through we have a 240Z that we'd be interested in swapping for an M3!
  9. Thanks for that! Is that L/100Km or Km per litre? Thinking about an RS225, I'm after a smaller hatch etc that isn't a Corolla, the 4 doors of the RS225 are a real bonus! Whats the reliability like? been reading very mixed reports (just like BMWs then!)
  10. Nice car! Question for you... whats it like on fuel? any idea on what milage your getting from it? type of driving?
  11. Uh oh... Looks familiar, Last car I saw with a hole in the firewall like that... well you know exactly what the status of it is....
  12. Heh, Nice car kiwi535 is right it did have an LSD, I put an open 3.91 (original was 3.45) in last year, definitely improved acceleration and general feel but economy suffered by about 50Km per tank, it's got such big rear feet that traction's not a problem (mostly). For the right price the LSD comes with it Don't know about the leather interior, I guess it wasn't standard on them? the seats are manual as well. They where recovered (at huge expense!) in as close to factory fabric as we could get. Oh should mention the headrests in the rear are a slightly different colour to the back seat - not that noticeable though.... maybe... I've never driven a E34 540i but my old man has a E39 540i and they're probably about the same speed wise. It's not a 'fast' car like, say, Glenns 1JZ E30 or my Evo is but its quicker than most things out there. And it sounds fantastic! p.s thanks for the compliments guys, I'll be sad to see it go.

    Breaking News

WTF!! What exactly has he done?? He was a member of a democratically elected parliament that was over thrown by radical terrorists, who then threw him out of the country. His refugee status was approved by the refugee board in 2003 after they looked at all the facts. Then some time later he was deemed a security risk...... If there was actually a case against him why has he been set free now??? If we're so worried about terrorists why is Sue Bradford allowed to be in the country....??

    KiwiSaver

Inflation is so low that even the most conservative of investments should return a gain over and above the current rate of inflation, KiwiSaver should be no different. And remember in order to keep inflation low interest rates are high thus making property not such a good investment (well thats what Dr Ballard hopes anyway...) KiwiSaver will be compulsory for all in a few years and the incentives will probably never be as good as they are now.... so take the govts money and run..... (although as tax payers we're just taking our own money back anyway, the govt want you to think how wonderful and generous they are.... b@stards) Anyway if worse comes to worse you can take a contribution 'holiday' indefinitely after one year.
