    Simulator? :P

Too funny! The people that know probably don't want to post about it so as to not alert more people to it.

Actually I built an RX7 simulator in our warehouse out of body kit parts before I put them in storage, complete with seats and wheels. I should have taken photos.

    But really - parts anyone???

  2. Loooong time no BMW for me.

Great to see this place still thriving!

So, I may get back into a BMW if I can find these at the right price

    - front bumper

    - front bumper crash bar

    - upper radiator support

    - dash (black)

    - Steering wheel

    - passenger rear door (complete minus door card)

    - front windscreen

    all for E60 5 series

Happy to pull myself (dash is no fun at all) in AK.

Probably a few smart cookies out there that know where I am going with this ;)

  4. If the skirts are fiberglass as you say, they won't be genuine, still will see what the price goes up to but does reduce my interest in them somewhat.

Sounds good - better than them going in the skip with all the other crap I dont have time to list.

  5. Grind, Cut, Weld, Hammer, Sand, Repeat.

Maybe 50% of the work done.

The rear guards are now completely custom, so the wheels can get right up in there if they wanted to, without flares.

Chopped out the stupid side exhaust exit and modified it to a centre exit.

  6. what did they charge to powder coat your wheels?

I got it all done as one lot for a discount price from CazCoat in Wairau. I didn't look at the breakdown but its cheaper than painting for what I had done, and I highly recommend their work.

  7. Awesome!! Are the green bits there to remind you how much work you've done once it's complete?

    Likey likey!

Haha! So true. I sometimes wonder why so much effort and expense has been consumed on parts that almost nobody will see again, unless they are a WOF inspector, or the car is on its roof (like the last one)

  8. Are those green brake lines! :D

Sure are - I am still waiting to collect the green driveshaft halves, fuel tank and other various small items :)

Got sick and tired of working on dirty cars so decided even the underneath of this one is going to be clean enough to eat off (for the first week or so anyway...)

  9. What Simon said! I have just pulled a 5 spd M10 gearbox out of my car, let me know if you want. It shifted good.

Edit: Also, to what use is your old E30 being put these days?

Cheers for the offer - I have the 5 speed that came with the motor just not modifying more than I have to, there is mountains of work just to get this bodywork respectable :)

The E30 lived in Chch for a while, the guy apparently had to sell due to quake damage on his work gear. The new owner emailed me a while back and I replied, never heard of it since then!

I have a (blasphemy) widebodied RX7 for a track car these days.

Would loooove to turbo this 2002 one day!

  10. Hi All - long time no post after the sale of the E30 beastie!

Finally got around to doing some work on the 2002 shell I have had taking up space for ages.

Basically its going to be a full repair and repaint on the shell, renew as many suspension parts as possible and get it moving with the help of an e30 M10 motor and the standard 4 speed.

It is mostly stripped and I have chopped out the rust, welded up, filled and flared where necessary the front guards and bonnet. The doors were half missing and have now got new panels welded in but a bit of shaping left to go.

Popped the front nose off, half of it was made of riveted panels and bog - luckily I have the front spoiler off my first 2002 so this whole area gets the chop!

  11. Hi all - as per title, average condition with tired interior. 220k's

Has blown reverse clutch but drives fine in all forward gears.

    16" mesh wheels, good tyres.

Fantastic fixup or parts for an E30 V8 build?

Comes with spare front seats for parts, and spare front bumper.

Will take $700 as is, could be driven away so long as you dont need reverse.

  13. Oh no! Thanks for all your help with mine.

I look forward to seeing what comes next.

No problem! yeah quite enthused about the 2002, will see if that lasts after I cut 6 square metres of rust out of it :)
