When I told my Dad I do Wanga Vegas to Taumarunui in two hours, he wasn't very happy.Thought I was thrashing it!! He was used to the trip in a Morry 8 in the '50's when it took at least four hours!! Hi everyone I have a problem - the rubber tubing to the window washer nozzels have come off one side. I need to take the under bonnet sound deadening off. There are what seems plastic screws into plastic inserts that hold the deadening in place. My problem is that all but two, seemed to unscrew BUT the last two have stripped the heads! Bugger. So, do I need to drill these out now? And are there replacements available?? Any other suggestions?? Regards Ray

Hi, Everyone I have a couple of issues I am seeking advice about please. The first is -my car is ex Singapore, and I think I have read somewhere that the heater itself is disconnected on cars in Singapore. This would be consistent with only getting warm air out of the central face level vents. Can anyone advise if this could be the case - that the heater is disconnected - and if so, what is the story an\bout reversing the situation?? The second is that the car has had the rear door cards off a few times - by the BMW dealer - whilst that (finally) got their act together and stopped the water larking into the rear floor wells. Anyway, the rear clip of the wood fillet is not holding the wood fillets in. Not too sure what this suggests, but, I am seeking the wisdom of the reader here please. Thanks all Regards Ray

Hi My WOF failed cos the headlight lights settings are seized! Comment has included that they have to pull the light covers off but IF they bugger that up, I will be up for total replacement lights??? Can anyone tell me more about this issue?? Regards Ray

Hi Guys, Thanks for the comments - car wouldn't restart - so onto State Roadside Assist who started the car for me. Off to the local auto electrician - and a new regulator in the alternator and a new battery (battery was the original from 2002) - the car is going better than ever. The wallet is lightened by the experience though!! Regards Ray

my warning light/message was warning me

Hi, I have just arrived home (from a very nice meal too I might add!!), but the car is now showing the warning "Trans Failsafe Program", the ABS light is on and the battery red light is on. The car seems to travel ok but still in one/lower gear. Feels like a slipping clutch on a manual. Can anyone advise what the problem might be please. And can I drive the car 70ks to my BMW dealer??? Hi, Mine is a 2002 E39 ex Singapore. Good car, and with now 64,000ks. I have a shudder in the front when under braking. I seem to recall reading somewhere that this is caused by worn bushes as opposed to brake disc/balancing or whatever. Can anyone advise me further please?? Thanks heaps Regards Ray

Thanks, everyone - I have in fact got man ex-Singapore E39. 2002. M54 2.2 litre engine. Has a heater operating. Car has full BMW service history and a non - smoker previous owner. Seems the back seat was never sat in. Car has all books and service records in English too which is a point for me. Could be that the front suspension bushes DO need replacing. I take the point about the heat/humidity. Has got Kiwi Eurostyle plates on now too.

Hi everyone - hey, I was in Auckland last week, and Shane removed the ABS unit on the first afternoon (took about 2 minutes to remove) , I took the car - he did the business and reinstalled the unit next afternoon. GREAT service and HIGHLY recommended. Also fixes pixels I found out. Will get him onto that next trip. Well worth the journey - and sure beats BMW saying I need a new one at $2k! Hi everyone there in Beemer land! I have today been advised by my BMW dealer, that the central control unit (something like that, it's called) for my car's ABS requires repair (at may be $700 give or take) or replacement if it can't be repaired (at approx $2000). I has some other work done on the car and this was the problem diagnosed as a result of the ABS warning light coming on intermittently. An issue for me is that about 8 weeks ago, they diagnosed the problem as the front right ABS sender unit (or something like that) was the problem. And that that would cost about $400 to put right. Hard case about today is that they charged me again for the cost of diagnosing the problem??? In any event, I will sort THAT aspect out. But, I'd value advice about the potential problem and the possible costs as advised, to fix it. I am concerned to take the car back because it might be diagnosed as BOTH need attention at $3000 next time!!!!. Any comments and advice would be valued. Thanks heaps Regards Ray

Hi I have a 2002 520i, ex Singapore, 55,000ks. The passenger seat back rest has started to respond to the outer side adjustment, when the adjustment button is used. That means that the inner side of the seat back rest stays upright, but the outer side will lever back and forth. This then skewes the seat back rest. Is this a broken motor or connection cables? Or something else? Anyone had this problem and had it fixed?? Thanks for any wisdom. regards
