These are from an e36/Z3 and will fit an e30 with no mods?
  2. Hello all, does anyone know if you can source valve lash caps from somewhere in nz? While adjusting the M30 rocker clearance this weekend I found that the exhaust valves for cylinders 1and 2 have custom eccentric bushes. Based on some measurements this looks to have been done to resolve a 0.1 mm out of spec gap (0.4mm when spec is 0.3mm). I have replaced all eccentric bushes but can not use standard eccentrics with these out of spec valves. Otherwise will need to buy the caps from the US.
  3. +1 for Gavin. Very handy as he is in NZ and has decent stock when even BMW are sourcing from Germany. Other than this Pelican Parts I find to be good as they provide 3-4 options for the same part at differing price points. They also source BMW original parts at reduced cost to BMW NZ and often include photos which is good since they are overseas. The only issue with USA sourced parts is that the euro spec parts are often not avalible and I have not yet found a euro supplier with a decent website. Perhaps someone else has?
  4. The M30B35 in my '87 735i is in a sorry state. A very loose banjo bolt has caused oil starvation on cylinders 1-2-3. The cam now has excessive wear to the point of rounding off of the lobes by 1-2mm. The valves may have been hitting the pistons, I am not sure as I do not have a camera to confirm this as yet. So, I am after some advice on the two options I am currently looking at. a. Replacing the cam: As the older M30's (and I have an e28) had known coolant issues I have kept a couple heads in the garage for spares. One is stamped '93 so I expect of course that this is in fact from an e34 or e32. But I believe it to be suspect. Am I right in thinking I can use the cam from the donor head which was also a B35. Is it as simple as checking the stamp on the cam is matching? and do I need to swap the rockers, values over as well?? b. Replace the head: This may be more straight forward however I would need to have the donor head tested as I can not recall the history. And atleast I know I am not having any overheating issues with the current head. Any lessons learnt or suggestions from you would be appreciated. A couple photos, first is a little hard to see but it shows the wear for interest. The second is the stamp on the cam. TIA, Adam

  6. e28 centre console ... is it an aircon version in black/ dark grey with the carpet attached?
  7. Well I do need a replacement dash cluster however I have a 735i... would need the actual Vin. If you put the first 7 in it comes back as an e21.
  8. How about replacing two pumps for one? I found a good write up/ discussion which suggests a TRE-340 in-tank pump is the best solution. http://www.mye28.com/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=101410&start=100 should add that they do not recommend the Walbro pumps.
  9. How much are you asking for the front? Any repairs on it?
  10. The middle bottom section (between fog lights) is now a flap. Could possibly reinforce with aluminium while I source another. Are you selling the whole kit as I just need the front.

  12. Hi Richard, I do not have a dxf but if you can supply the PDF then I can possibly create one. Regards, Adam
  13. Help needed to source an e28 m sport front bumper as I have major damage and there is no simple fix. The bumper repair shop informed me that repairing polyurethane bumpers is impossible because they can not weld the cracks like plastic bumpers. Anything out there or does anyone have a possible lead? I do have spare undamaged body kit parts to offer as a trade.
  14. Will check that option out online. Was looking to make it as factory as possible.
  15. WtB a set of 16" style 5 16x7.5 ET20. WtB a set of front sport seats for an e30. WtB the sport seats bolster foam insert (drivers door side) for an e28.. maybe someone has a spare passenger seat which this could be sourced from? Can provide a picture if need be.
  16. Unfortunately my tool collection does not currently include a rattle gun so looking for another simple solution. Also it will be useful for the reinstallation as well.
  17. Hi e28 fanatics So I am attempting to remove the 325psi crank nut to replace the timing chain and guides etc on an M30. Engine is on a stand so yeah, great fun. I have locked the flywheel up with a chain and given the breaker bar + longest tube sitting around the garage a go but it is not moving at all. So I turned to google for options (Last time I removed one I could not remember it being this difficult) and what I found was that BMW made a special crank holder tool, which doesn't look to hard to replicate. Has anyone had a go at making this or a similar tool for the job? I am going to give it a try, would anyone be interested in the cad files after I have completed it? Would look to have it water or plasma cut.
  18. Howdy ChCh members. So does anyone have or know someone with a e32 who may be willing to help out a bimmersport member? I am looking to borrow a working instrument cluster from an '87 e32. I have had my cluster looked at and there is nothing obviously wrong so they suggested the best way to check it would be by swapping in another working cluster. PM me with contact details if you know someone that may be able to help. Cheers, Adam
  19. What price do they fetch at action, anyone follow the last auction? Wonder if the bad press with diesel VWs might have an impact on interest.
  20. Dave. Can you post the link?
  21. Put the top and bottom springs in with the shoes pads loose. Then install one holding pin, and finally with some leverage install the final pin.
  22. He mentioned FCP https://www.fcpeuro.com/ they have OEM and brands that pelican stock. Or try http://www.getbmwparts.com/ for discounted OEM, have to use NZ Post though.
  23. I do not expect suppliers to hold something as particular as the tail light gaskets for an '87 e28 but they could offer the service of ordering them in. If they partner up with NZ Post and get bulk order discounts that might help. Although parts direct from BMW are more expensive, it can also be cost comparable to when I buy parts from the US and pay for postage. I suggest it is a good idea to check with them and because the difference in price may only be few dollars but they do have pretty good customer service. NB As a rule this generally only works for smaller parts. What I would really like to see is more companies provide an online price check/ order service.. that is what I am sure we all do with the US sites.
  24. Maybe some old gezza forgot where he parked it? If you ask round you may get it cheap or free anyway. Good luck.
