  1. i like the chrome rings, i think its nice to have a bit of chrome as long as its discrete. yea i guess it makes sense that after a huge repair bill you would want/have to withhold from spending any more! still looks great as it is, not a big rush.. just keep your eye peeled for bargains
  2. ^ thats what i was thinking.. it just causes trouble for the unexpecting buyer
  3. just had a glimpse of a silver e36 coupe with red mags with silver dish at hyper mag and tyre shop. looked pretty neat
  4. im really liking the new front bumper. looks awesome. next on the list might be some wheels. there were 2 sets of m pars on trademe a few weeks back around $800-1k not a bad deal and would look awesome
  5. shes the first registered owner. i dont think she can get in touch with the seller he might not be in the country. we will probably have to rule out this possibility. anyway we've got the ball rolling kinda, shes talking to the repair shop, compliance people, a private importer and also a lawyer. will update when i find out more
  6. ok ill try to keep it short, my friend bought a car privately a few months back and shes just had a small accident. she took it into a panel beats and they informed her that the car was repaired from a previous accident and it should never have been complied in the first place. its a 2009 nissan 370gt with like under 50thousand ks on it. Im thinking a few scenarios: 1. car was in an accident in japan, fixed there, then imported to nz and compliance didnt pick up on the damage so just passed as a 'normal' car 2. the importer and seller from japan did some sneaky tricky deal and managed to get it imported and paid off a compliance guy to pass the car as normal (very unlikely lol) 3. car was imported as an accident car and then got flagged in nz at compliance. then got fixed here and got issued a repair cert (?) to say that it was ok and done to the legal standard and it wasnt 4. panel beater is taking my friend for a joy ride and trying to scam her into a huge repair bill for nothing (lol..) im still waiting for her to give me more details but i thought i might get a head start and post this up for some advice. i am totally clueless on compliance proceedures and all that jazz so beginners talk would be greatly appreciated. just another thought, wouldnt it be easy to find the details about the car during it's compliance process (any documents etc) and also the details about the importer? whether its was a dealership or a private importer, their name and license number etc. yea any ways sorry got a bit longer than i thought lol

Find a car for sale on tm that has it and ask them to sell it separate. Its worked for me in the past. Cuz they get an extra few hundy and car doesnt lose much value without it. Or find them at a wreckers

ive had an oil and filter change done at a 'decent' garage that usually does jap cars (and the odd bmw here and there). i went there ONCE and never again. I only went there because I was living in an apartment so didnt have the space to DIY. It look 20 minutes.. and after it was done, i found out they used wrong oil (i think it was 0w-30 or 15w-40 or something random) and it only cost $100.. checked the invoice and they charged me for only 5L. my car was a e46 m54b30.. seriously.. i had to get it done properly the next week because i couldnt handle knowing it had been done WRONG. i dont even think it was fully synthetic oil!! how much oil can u drain out in 20 minutes... 2.5L of old oil would still have been in the car if it filled up only 5L.. all im trying to say is.. at LEAST check which oil they are using.. and tell them that you want it completely drained and it doesnt matter if it takes an hour to do it. specialist only from now OR DIY.. at least you have no1 else to blame but yourself if you mess it up lol.

i just bought 2 bottles of castrol edge 5w-30 for $120 (usually cost $80-90 each) and the filter at team mcmillan for $35. total cost: $155 + an hour of my time (still have half a bottle left over for next time so i only need to buy 1 bottle) the mechanics would be getting the oil in a drum (much cheaper than what we pay for the 5L bottles) lets say $15/L @ 7L ish is $105 1 hour labour $100? filter say $30 so total: $235 + GST not sure how 1 place got $340.. would have to be some special as oil.. or a filter made of gold.. or they are charging for like 2 hours of labour.. even 1 hour is heaps. cuz it will take 1 minute to lift on hoist. 5 minutes to undo undertray and/or remove bolt.. drain for an hour or so while working on another job/car then come back plug back in, fill up oil. its realistically a 20-30 minute job...

    E34 M5

damn.. the pic of the interior leather and the steering wheel just shows how little its been driven.. looks mint!!
  17. have seen this in real life many years ago. it was nice back then before it went into hiding somewhere lol. you are very very very unlikely to find another lagunca seca blue e46 m3. they are super rare especially in nz. get the owner to help out with anything u have to question, but 3 hrs is a long drive unless you're 80% certain you will be buying it.
  18. Spotted orange e60 m5 near viaduct last night plate CRY.
  19. Prices on these are dropping like crazy. Its pretty good value i reckon.
  20. I had the exact same set with 4 brand new falken fk452s fitted. Mags were mint and i had it on tm for 1k then down to 700 and still didnt sell. Ended up selling with the car..
  21. If its cheap then just revert back to standard and its a decent car!
