    =9.6km/litre 10.417 l 100ks.not to bad for central auckland???The 535 would prolly be 16 l 100 ks in that S*&t
  2. the old seat of the pants meter can be very deceptive,of course the e 36 will prolly be a much nicer car but cos the ol e 30 are light the performance difference may not be as much as you think....as carl says the VANOS makes a huge difference....somenoe post up some kw and weight numbers......
  3. i have some info on this car i think..all i did was email sytners in the uk(alpina dealer) and they sent me some info back. The info is on my old computer which has a dead monitor.....If it is silver and at one time registered to a guy in Paraparaumu,(with a name very similar to dwayne actually) then it is the car i looked at.The std 535 has about 215 hp and i think the non turbo b10 is somewhere around 250hp
  4. my inspection at shelleys on a 535 was really good. They had the part numbers and prices of some of the paarts that needed replacing....they didnt hve labour charges tho.....Unless you know a lot about the cars you ae looking at a check can save you thousands and thousands....esp on Benzes...a mate of mind found out the hard way on a 560???
  5. to me an //M aint worth s&^T unless it is a M3 or M5.I am pretty sure that the 1990 535IS cars were all sold by BMW NZ debadged with only an //M badge on them...mine came off almost straight away....by all means tell it like it is ie sports seats etc,but dont call it a motorsport unless it actually is.If it is good if it aint dont call it one.

very tidy e 30,have the lights been swapped for e 34 ones...didnt know the e 30's came with the smilies..??
  7. yes its not BMW who make you have it its part of the requirements in europe i think....All HIDs must have washers and be easily adusted ie elecric adjusters.
  8. exactly the argument for and against right there..... I always thought they were HIDS in the b4s.....
  9. Always routine stuff of course eh Cain????.Mcmillans did my pre purchase check on the 535,all done by phone and fax,the guy spent some time on the phone with me,thought that was good for only 135.....Have heard some murmurs about xr6 turbos....
  10. i kinda like one of the very first PP i saw.... o2c39d

i had to get one of my wheels done thru taranaki st tyres,i think they went to chch and were x rayed for cracks by air new zealand then back to this guy then back to me!!!I will try to find out who taranaki st tyres use(d)
  12. Ot re re 750 but when i was looking for my new car, which turned out ot be the 535 i looked at falcons and commodores.I am 6 3 and the seating in the falcon was just plain wrong..I just could not get comfortable in the thing. The commodore was oK.At about that time i started looking at beamers and Brent told me that an ss commodore of about the same era was no way comparable to the 535 re roadholding/comfort.
  13. even if an open diff the rear suspension gives pretty good grip. The m30 is pretty soft just of idle, although relatively tourquey they get up and go at about 4000 rpm......autobahn speed
  14. an e32 735 would prolly be the most bang for your buck you could buy..they are prolly cheaper than 5,s
  15. guy across the road has a lowered black e 38 740 with 18,s...mmmmm and has a mate with a lowerd mint e 32 delphin grey 735iL
  16. only two colours for bma,s,excuse spelling,Damond shwarz and Delphin grey!!!! You guys beter watch out, went to repco the other day and bought 3 phase mothers.......shown shine soon!!!

    Fuel Economy

thats not half bad martyn...I think the best i have ever had from the 535 was 27 mpg the very first weekend i had it driving it proudly home from Auckland to Wellington=9.6km/l=10.39l 100 kms,and the very best instantaneeous reading at app 100 kms was about 9.6l 100 ks=10.44km/l=29.3mpg.I think my obc is slightly pessimestic....

you will be very lucky to get anything below 10......unless you are goung 90ks on the flat with a tail wind....the autos are prolly turning lower revs at 100 tho

there also a manual 545,and of course you could always wait for an m5 to be wriitten off
  21. I read it as meaning that if you install a set of factory xenons you will have no problems(i know that some e 32 had xenon headlights).Hella for example also have complete kits for retrofitting and i guess that is what you are talking about. If they comply with relevant uk standards (ie rhd) you would have a fair chance here.I imagine they will be pretty expensive tho.Did e 36s have a xenon option??
  22. bma guy, even though you are buying of a freind make sure you get the car checked out by someone who knows what they are looking at.BMW dealers will perform a standard quite thorough test or take it a bmw independent mechanic. It will possibly be the best 150 bucks you spend. Also make sure that ALL electrics work(or at leastknow what doesnt!.)I think this is true for ANY car purchase.
  23. perhaps one of those rare occasions where the word F%$K is quite allowable.....

yeah sixth plus more modern combustion chamber sesign...at 100 ks the 5 is turning 2250.At one of the bmwcc driver days was talking to a guy from whangarei who came down to manfield,he said his 635 is more economical than his 535,at 100 the six was doing a bout 1900 rpm
  25. 800 is about right for a personalised euro plate with the BMW logo on the side
