you are right,at least about the cat.The vin decoder also tells me i have a cat,but i dont.I think our cars should be the same as very early UK cars,I cant help you with the ecu number,tho i have always meant to get a chip for mine .Do you need to pull the ecu to bits (as you would when replacing the chip) or is it just a mattter of pulling it out and looking on the cover?From what i have heard you wont gain much from the exhaust,the stock system is heavy but flows well,same as the intake,its well matched to the rest of the engine.Prolly the best thing to do would be to get rid of the butterfly valve in the intake and get a hot wire systemMAF vsMAS or something.... I tink brents car is a uk import is his ecu no the same as yours,i will look at mine too!

presumably you ve checked bulbs connectors etc and there are no problems with blowing fuses or obvious short circuits,it may be the brake light switch.I know this is a common problem with E34 5 series maybe it is with e 36,s as well.Your local bmw dealer may be able to suggest a electrician who knows his bimmers....

BMWnz refer to the 535 manuals as HD12,s(one guy said"very special cars") and if they arent 535is,s i would like to know what they are....from what i have seen they are identical to 535is,s in aussie.I beleive that bmwnz put //M badges on all of them what do you mean by M535?I thought the e 34 didnt have a m535,only the e28 had an M535.All the e 34 535s had the same output,the only difference between a sports and any other model was options......sheesh the way values are going i might be looking for an e34 m5 soon....

i use a broker and i know who i am insured with.my broker always sets out the rates and tells me the rates at a couple of other places...also when i bought the beemer i told him i wanted the best...i am with vero.The only claim i had they were so quick of the mark my car was taken away on the twentyseventh of december and i got it back on about the 2nd week of jan.....as good as new,it was all fixed up before i was asked to even fillout a claim form!!!!

yes on the surface it appears the 525 m50 is very close but i have been told the 535 feels much gruntier...cain would disagree...compare the torque figures they tell the real story...the 535 is old technology,M50 newer....in the real world the 525is prolly a more sensile car.The 535is is probably the only way to get into a manual 5 series,altho i think there is a manual 535 on trade me at the moment. I would have thought that 12500 was a good price too,i am watching carefully. it aint home theater but an x box or playstation 3 will play dvd,s and you have the option to useit a a game console too!!!Sony have a couple of compact affordable sysems..wander down to the big sony center cnr willis and lambton,they have a couple of home theater rooms too........for kater of course.Dont buy a plasma scren...lcd is the way to go.

a van or a previa or similar is what they should be in if they want a seven seater,cheaper to run and prolly a nicer drive too, and safer for them and us....

i paid 16200 for mine a couple of years ago,as for the price the market will decide but its got ALL the good stuff....its basically a m5 look a like,inside they are identical except for the oil temp gauge..I sat in a m5 at taupo and apart from the leather colour and the gauge it was the same...even the stereo

i think that if you disconnect the battery that will prevent any triggering on the airbag light side of things,just make sure you have everything connected up correctly before you connect the battery again....You may also need to check if you need a radio code or something too

a bmwcc club member has advised me that an e23(1979 730) is available in the hawkes bay,apparently nice condition but minus a cylinder head.Will only be available for a short time before it is crushed,pm or email me for contact details.The owner was going to get the head "fixed" but decided against it.A small pic of an e23 follows,it is not the same car

yeah the whole basin is weird,off camber and bumpy,but that corner in the outside lane is really off camber on the exit and the wider you go the more off camber it is,its ok on the entrance but the camber switches about halfway round....

i dont think a e 34 will do a low 7 0 100 more like eight and 17s will knock em back a bit...the e34 535 is much happier on the open road.As a a daily driver i get around 13 l 100 ks but i dont sit in traffic and on the open road i get around 11l 100,but i am pretty light on the throttle....and even tho they are fairly quick and fairly fast (140mph or thereabouts) they dont really feel that fast.........If i sold mine i would like to think that the 5 spd ,manual, mtech body kit ,sports seats, lsd etc etc would get me 15k or so.......
