  1. Definitely interested, will a normal sparco or racetech style etc side mount bracket fit to these? And can you confirm for me that they are definitely Motorsport NZ legal?
  2. As I said, they will not win races nor will they perhaps beat a higher rated (probably faster wearing) tyre BUT if you get a good price and size, they are more than fine as a sporty road tyre.... Not entirely worth ignoring because they don't rate on forum judge, jury and execution panels. Of course, if you want to win a gumball rally race through the Waitaks, a set of NT01's might best suit but that is a whole different discussion, price point and wear rate...
  3. For the record, I have Goodyear Eagles on the M3 as the road tyre and now on the 2003 530. I find them to be excellent road tyres. I have raced bikes and cars competitively and have a bit of experience with tyres in general over the years... As a good wearing, reasonably priced and pretty good performing tyre I have found them to be more than suitable for "sporty" driving, including a track day (where they admittedly showed up their road nature ) If they have a fitment you like and a price that makes them an option I wouldn't (and didn't) rule them out.
  4. Definitely an issue there. Nigel previous and my current 3.0 m3 (with cams) and full rebuild makes 280 hp (200 - 210 Kw ?) at the wheels on a realistic to low reading dyno with a vastly different power and torque curve. I wouldn't say it is massively rich for a race engine though...a bit perhaps but not massive...certainly not enough to make the power like that IMO. I tend to think maybe Vanos as well......also have you done a compression test? My e36 328 had corrosion on the ecu board which left it in a constant cold choke situation....was a factory fault with the drain hole leaving the ecu in a puddle....not sure if the m3's have this problem but once again Gavin at High Velocity can work through this (he found the 328 problem).....pm me if you want more info. Good luck. Keep us informed of how you get on....
  5. voted but still a close second....good luck
  6. I don't know about the BMW's but i have started going from 6th to 4th (carefully) in the mx5 race car to have less to do AND try and retain stability in the braking zone and in to the turn in transition....to me worrying about going down the gears takes focus and time away from braking late and hard and getting a good turn in. oops. didn't see the date...old thread..
  7. What price do you have in mind that is not too expensive for a replica?
  8. Hi, I am interested in the original Msport shocks and springs if they are available separately......
  9. I am a starter if you do consider the bulk buy. Time for the yellow beast to progress towards track work now.....
  10. Are you okay to name the supplier of the fibreglass panels?

Such great cars, I cant believe it is not selling.....have you thought of turbo'ing this one or perhaps swapping in a 328 and turbo'ing that (keeping the S50 aside..) Surely an M3 is going to kill an old, common as muck skyline? cornering, prestige, long term value.....less agro from police an d general punters who associate skylines with boy racers and/or drifters......you don't wear your pants around your ass and a hoody do you? Like the majority up here at least!
  12. I bought a set of XYZ for my M3 and am very happy. Talked to Evan and worked out that the road set wasn't suitable and the race only would be bad on road so chose the cheaper race / road set...it is a bit firm on some bad roads but very good on most roads....(though I cant remember if I have adjusted to full soft yet). I am running a heavier front sway bar as well though. I believe on track they will be pretty good maybe even great, I feel they are good value and handle at least as well as the Koni Race set in my MX5 turbo race car.... Evan was very helpful and as such I intend to purchase more from them and also get some car work done in their workshop...
  13. Congrats, looks great. I do this sort of thing too. Doesn't last long but the psychological feel good does! :thumb:
  14. Beeker, you may want to double check the size of the cage footings. The engineer and I got pulled back by MSNZ on the floor plan size of ours when we built the mx5 turbo and had to make them bigger, yours currently look our first version....might just be an illusion but double check the reg's just in case. I think they recently changed the rule or changed the method of measuring them.... We submitted photos as we went so it wasn't a huge deal but had we put everything back together, painted it etc it would have been a serious pain. Also, would you mind saying what brand and where you sourced the seat mounts? That solves a particular problem I am facing.....I want to leave the standard mounts in and be able to swap race seat for oem seat as required....these sound ideal.
  15. Can anyone suggest a solution for the button that stops the seat belt clip from sliding to the floor? I am sick of scrounging around on the ground for it! I went to a seat belt place and they said they don't sell them as they can weaken the seat belt and you had to get a new belt and mechanism!!! I already have the puncture marks in the seat belt where it was, what a crock of LTSA / P.C bull crap!!! Surely there is a replacement little plastic button we can refit to the existing holes or carefully push through a new one....?

I don't know but if it is for sale I'm keen! - oops sorry, saw this on front/home page, missed it was in WTB section.
  17. Sweet, saved by Karl from Takapuna Mufflers. Great guys!
  18. Im "thinking" of building a 2.0 race car, would you consider selling the rolling body? Would want all panels, motor, diff and so on but not required is all the interior, steering wheel, wheels etc... pm me if interested.
  19. If you take the original sun roof and the paint tin you bought back to where you bought it they should be able to re- tint the paint to match at no cost... I have done a lot of painting over the years and most paint guys are very helpful. Good luck, love the car too, very nice!
  20. Hi Guys Our 328m coupe had a funny wheezing/whistle the other night and I just couldn't figure it out.. suddenly there was a big bang and rattle and then a very loud exhaust note! I don't mind some exhaust but not the type that is just a hole somewhere...sounds awful. After racking my brains I figured that maybe one of the sensor bungs came loose and shot out. After poking around, sure enough that's what it was....just right up by the steering column. GOing to be an Arse to get in let alone tighten! Can anyone suggest an easy central Auckland place to source a used one from tomorrow (Saturday)? I don't have time to drive out to Brent's unfortunately...have to work. Cheers.
  21. is the fluid fresh or old? this makes a huge difference...and using a higher heat like mentioned above motul or BnT 300 (I think) is the same stuff....works well in my race car. You should ask him how he tests so you can duplicate and prove it is resolved before trying to re cert.....
  22. Go to race brakes, I just got a set of rears for $75.00 that are equal to or better than oem. I believe they said they could do a similar compound front for not crazy money too...certainly less than $300 all up... Certainly popping in and discussing with them can't hurt? If you say the guy with the yellow e36 m3 sent you he might recall the rear pad he sold me...
