  1. yes that bolts up to your M40. that gearbox is featured on M20, M30, M40 and M70s, and can be made to fit M50 and M60 aswell but is not the standard box as far as i know.
  2. BMUU6 on a 635CSi (may just be badged) on this forum? Followed home from school prizegiving ;P
  3. nothing like an M20 dumping straight out of the headers
  4. you should put your location in your information on the left hand side
  5. turn the engine over by hand (if you can) using the crank with the tranny in neutral. will be hard to crank because of internal friction, but not impossible or close to it
  6. assumed exaggeration i know compared to now yes it is primitive. im just interested in why it is present if it is indeed of no use. what information CAN you get from it then? (not smart ass remark.. im genuinely interested, as i have been (falsely apparently) told that you can get information on where the error is in the engine, ie O2 sensor, AFM, TPS etc, though if nothing comes up then it is an error not recorded/registered by the ECU
  7. Thanks. not phased though. we all have to learn somehow! if i am wrong in my last post hes more than welcome to correct me! seems strange that BMW would incorporate such a system into thier cars if it is such a pointless system, when it is something that cannot be marketed and is only of use to BMW garages which are experts anyway.
  8. As far as i am aware, a scanner can tell you if it is the AFM, TPS, O2 Sensor and a few other bits and pieces. i know it does not offer more specific indication on components, but all i need to know is this anyways, as those three things are my prime suspects. I didnt reply because i was on bimmerfest helping other people while i waited for your reply, if you are really interested.
  9. I take offence to that. i have had three E30s in my time, rebuilt one from the ground up and know the car inside out. engines are the one area i havent bothered to touch as im M50/52'ing next year so been concentrating my learning on that. im on here asking because i dont know. thanks for your 'advice' though. Also, i created this thread before the other one as it was my first instinct is to use a tool which makes diagnosis a lot easier. I then spent the next day doing my own trouble shooting while i waited for someone to say they had/know of some one with a scanner. Respect to you, but you shouldnt jump to conclusions that i have no experience with E30s just because im new here. im a veteran member of Bimmerfest and R3v, and, as ive mentioned, owned 3 of them and worked on many.
  10. battery charged? it clicks (sounds similar to the indicators.. probably the same speaker) when it doesnt have enough juice. did you remove the shifter at all? check that is plugged in correctly. plug the tranny in aswell. not sure if it will make any difference as i havent had a car with it as you know but cant hurt seeing as you need to do it anyways! Have an alarm? might need to disengauge the imobiliser
  11. my rims are quite light (lighter than stock wheels) so this wont be my issue. i HATE chromes with a passion cool cool. ill see how i go
  12. OMGOMGOMGOMG this was the ONE thing i hated about Bimmersport was this! thanks so much!
  13. can i get an agreement on the temp sensor ohm ratings? parts list: Temp sensor Fuel Filter Possibly AFM if those other two dont work Agreed? I expect the 3.5ish LSD to make a difference over the 4.46 open as well. if i get exactly 200kms now, (calculates: 200*4.46=890/3.6=247kms ) can i expect to get 247kms when the LSD is in? or doesnt it work like that?
  14. It chills on half way, sometime goes around 3/4 when i drive hard but will then go back to half
  15. M50/52 next year.. i have it sorted out haha
  16. all of the above has been worked on/replaced in the last year, except the AFM (my first idea) and the fuel filter which may be a good time to replace it as said above, i have no sence of smell so i cant tell you that :S not a dead hippo. just a few subs and amps. but the car has always had bad economy even when it was stock standard. havent noticed any increase in consumption because of this weight
  17. No i fill it up and usually put 45-50L in. Odo is in kilometers, but the gauge face is miles (i know this because i put the miles face on because i think it looks better). i intend to do this trip.
  18. the clock has been wound back i know this. i have a spare gauge cluster so ill chuck that in and see. the trip meter seems to count the 100m intervals correctly so who knows. ill do a trip around the block (read hill) and then do it in the other car and see if i get the same distance. thats what i thought too. no gas leak that i can see anywhere, no drips when parked etc etc. fuel door locks on the central locking anyways, and why would they steal it from the bimmer when the one on my Lada doesnt lock at all haha
  19. 55L/200km = 25L/100km. my thing on the gauge cluster reads 6-8L/100km when im driving
  20. the car had this same fuel economy when it was auto. i dont see why BMW would make a car with such terrible economy. i wonder what other people with B20s are getting. I have no sence of smell so i cant tell you what it smells like, but no water or carbon comes out. nothing visable comes out except in winter time
  21. Mine is a later model? or do you mean E36/46 etc?
