  1. I took a shell to the scrappys on the back of the Tech1. Moved flats a few times too with it a few years ago now. If there wasn't a huge hole in the rear apron, id remove it but do like the idea of my car not being written off so easily if i ever get rear ended.
  2. Id be pulling out the clutch fan and putting in an electric fan. A fan switch from an E36 compact will have the right temperature on and off settings and should bolt in to those free port on the radiator end tank.
  3. Its basically to free the pins up. I used a reamer the same size as the pin. its just to remove the material of the bush down to how it should be as it swells up over time.
  4. Just pull the detent pins and ream the bushes out. This is what Kayne Barrie told me he did. I've done it on two S5D 310z's now and worked well.
  5. After a set of 16x7 style 5 wheels but will consider individual wheels in any condition with caps or not. These came on E39's only. I will also consider the 16x8 version off E38's or even the 15x7 E34 ones if cheap enough. Let me know what you have.

    E30

My one I offered you ticks all those boxes but with what you want to spend, you'd need to be looking at 4 door sedans only. Does it have to be a coupe?
  7. Yes they are interchangeable. I have some Koni adjustables from an E30 series car that I am willing to part with. These are adjustable at the top and in the car as opposed to the proper E30 Konis that require you to remove from the car to adjust.
  8. Yip that was mine. It was a really clean car underneath but jeez I didn't think it was worth what he's asking for it now. Needed a lot of paint work to bring it up to being a minter.
  9. Definitely has all the signs of being a 85 car like no side indicators and the old engine to body loom adaptor etc but when you look at the rear guards and lights, they are Facelift. Looks like a FL shell has had near everything swapped in to it from the 85 car. Or they really have put the lower rear PFL guards and lights section on to the old car which seems unlikely. Id easily be able to tell what's up if i had the car in front of me.
  10. Here's the old posts. Looks as if its been sitting on TradeMe for over four years now. Crazy. 1987 M3 E30 Evolution1 NZ new! - TradeMe discussions - bimmersport.co.nz Anyone seen this beauty - RHD E30 M3 - TradeMe discussions - bimmersport.co.nz If I was to one day get an M3, I wouldn't mind it being RHD as it would make it so much better to drive on our roads. I've been stuck many times behind imported LHD Camaros & Mustangs etc who cant pass the truck or campervan in front of them on the open road. They just have to sit there at 80kph while Nissan Micras pass them both. Then again, if I was to spot a RHD M3 driving past, my first thought would be "is that a 318i with a fiberglass kit?"
  11. Your car will be awesome once the M42 is in there. Will perform as good, if not better than a 325i. I have an early E36 non EWS DME if you need one. Also, have a copied Turner/Mark D chip to suit too.
  12. Correct. Seemed to be the next best option for me when finding good condition E30 sport seats is next to impossible.
  13. Thanks Richard. At the end of the day I realised I wasn't going to do what I wanted with it which was a 318is replica so thought best to move it on. Having it sit on the side of the road under trees was taking is toll on it. I hadn't done too much to it, just the seats, LSD and a taco cluster. Wanted to tidy up the bits where the paint was rough but thought it wasn't worth my time and money involved to do that. I may regret selling it one day just like the last coupe I sold. A basic spec M42 E30 coupe has always been a dream of mine.
  14. Its not too tidy, needs paint work in places but the body was solid. Also, it is just a 316i at the end of the day. I thought it was a fair price and I'm happy with it.
  15. This was mine. Sold in 15 minutes of listing it. The guy is flying down today from yes, you've guessed it, Auckland. Maybe I sold it too cheap. Factory manual, new clutch, Fresh LSD, full black leather and flew through a VTNZ wof the day before.
  16. Anything considered even a small case 3.45 (E36 Ti diff??). Will also consider an E36 diff to rob the crown and pinion from and if that's the case I will still need an E30 medium case diff (any ratio) to swap it in to. Cheers
  17. If its the one I'm thinking of, I know of the guy and pretty sure he works for a mate of mine. He should still have a Tech2 kitted 318i coupe that had a M20b25 in it as well.
  18. Only have three now. Much more manageable amount. The Tech1 is the only one worthy of Megameet.
  19. I'm doing a M42 in one of my E30's and wont be planning on getting a cert unless I get picked up on it during a WoF which I doubt is highly likely. The car is a 316i and It even came fitted with a M40B18 so technically should have cert now anyway. VTNZ doesn't seem to care. Adding an extra cam in my eyes isn't going to raise any eyebrows from a WoF inspector or from the police/insurance company in the event of an accident. The reason id rather avoid it is the high chance the cert guy will make you fit hoops even if not needed when I will potentially be under the 50% increase in power threshold. Its just not worth the hassle to me when the car will be the same spec or better in terms of brake and suspension components that came in factory M42 cars. The cert cost is more than I'm planning to spend on a motor and a third of the cost of the car anyway. I have heard that if you can prove with a letter from the vehicle manufacturer that the driveshaft being used is the same paired with the upgraded engine originally, you can get away without using hoops. This may be a very old thing so may not work anymore and good luck getting that kind of a letter from BMW AG.
  20. Thats my 325i SE on Trademe that i purchased off Mikan. Its actually a really solid car now despite the milage and history. There is still a lot that could be done to it to bring it back to its original SE spec and i will slowly chip away on it if it doesnt sell. Getting rid of those terrible door speakers is top of the list. I only listed it because Trademe had a list your car for free day so thought why not. I dont need to sell it and enjoy driving it even if it is only once a week to pop down to the shops. The price I would i would let it go for is purely what its worth to me. The odd situation with the chassis damage was quite a quick and easy fix. There was no "cracking" of the chassis as such, just the spot welds on one side of the beam that the back of the diff mounts to had started to come away. Never seen or heard of that before.
  21. The last couple of days I’ve been pulling my hair out trying to work out why the speedo hasnt been working in my E30 racecar project. After swapping clusters and speed sensors in and out of working cars and chasing the wiring, i couldn’t figure it out. I finally noticed this LSD i purchased and fitted has a smaller trigger wheel than the one in the car i was swapping parts over with. Its only slightly smaller, id say 20mm diameter but it must be enough to not register with the sensor. Now can anybody please shed some light on this. The smaller wheel must be from another series car? Is there a sensor that has a longer pickup in it that will work with my e30 rear cover? Id prefer not to pull out and apart the freshly built LSD just to swap over the trigger wheel.
  22. Hi Nathan, if you get stuck and don't find anything, I have an adaptor that will get you up and running with the Getrag driveshaft. PM me if you're interested.
  23. Biggest giveaway for me was the spokes not carrying further out to the rim like E30 weaves do. Plus the push on centre caps instead of screw on ones.
  24. These look like they are E34 style 5s not E30 M3 ones.
