  1. As per my PM, didn't get round to solving it yet, but have since learnt to weld. So in due course will take some measurements, and weld something in. But also just as likely to swap in an M30 ? (or buy another E28)
  2. Yeah agreed regarding the seats. When I test drove one my seat was touching the rear seat
  3. Good call on the LEDs, I have them in my garage and they're so much nicer than the fluro's in the shed. Seriously wish my compressor was in a sound proof box though
  4. I’ll be following this with interest... I’ve got another shed build coming up in my future. I plan to put a hoist in mine. Some learnings from my previous garage extension (may not be entirely applicable to you). Add far more power than you expect, ideally have some 15a for a welder, add more lights, double glazing and insulation are fantastic, drive through capabilities are awesome, add more structured networking, add air pipes. Short version:
  5. Personally not sold on the body kit, but looks like nice apart from that. I suspect your steering wheel will be a different spline to anything post 1986, and being a 79 car it's mechanically an e12 rather than an e28. As a result the suspension is a little bit different. M90 makes it a little bit more special than a standard m30b34/35 as it's got a larger bore and shorter stroke, making it in theory more rev happy.
  6. Wouldn't the bore spacing on the S5X ITBs be wrong for an M30? I think I have a dual carb setup at home somewhere. There's also the path I'm, planning to take which is using the earlier two piece "banana" intake manifold and using only the initial piece with some motorcycle TBs bolted to it. Example here: https://www.r3vlimited.com/board/forum/general-forums/members-rides/the-project-forum/376836-m30b35-backyard-budget-itb-s
  7. Especially if you're going to drop $15k on it like some have suggested. Unless you're doing it for love, there are better options out there. Or like me your plan is to just dump some boost into a stock one and away you go.
  8. I'd also be keen to learn more, even got a spare ECU especially for it. @Dogballs which tune did you use?
  9. Welcome to the forum! I use FCP Euro, Rockauto and Schmiedmann. I've been advised to stay away from Pelican parts by a few people but haven't used them myself. The easiest way I find to get parts is to go to https://carjam.co.nz/ put your rego in, grab you VIN number and then put that into https://www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/select which will give you all the part numbers you need.
  10. @m325i if it means an m5 for everyone then maybe it’s a good thing... in theory.
  11. @Rocket Ron I suggest you remove your mobile number from the post and PM it instead. Not really something (I don't anyway) you want floating around the public domain
  12. I think what we can draw from this is that his Toyota Passo is clearly superior to both the M3 and the M5
  13. Yes new tyres are on the cards for ASAP... Just working through what I need.
  14. Yeah the seat may need some attention...
  15. Oops...? Suffice to say I’ve definitely got an affliction for classic BMWs
  16. Thanks for all the responses so far team. Will look into them. I probably should've mentioned that going fast is not the aim here, more after something (potentially interesting) to ride on the road to work towards my restricted and then full whilst also building confidence so I can go and do rides like the Molesworth station etc. Perhaps with the odd bit of commuting thrown in for good measure.
  17. Considering buying a LAMS bike to work towards my restricted. I have 2 Kawasaki KLR250's already, but neither are road legal (one is in pieces and the other I've been using solely off-road). I know some of you are also into bikes so was hoping to tap into your knowledge. Have been told to look at BMW F650GS, particularly ones with ABS, but being a sucker I've also been thinking about something left field like an R65.... Alternatively I could be far less interesting and buy a 250cc modern Honda or just get a KLR road legal... Thoughts?
  18. Factory or aftermarket? Once I fit my ACS muffler my factory exhaust will be surplus to requirements
  19. I drove a 218i for work when one of our Mini's was getting repaired. Was actually quite nice.. compared to the corollas we had prior...
  20. I'll admit, seems on the pricey side for what it is. Have seen them sub $10k, but then again this is the only one for sale that I'm aware of. Personally (and perhaps a tad obviously) E28s are a better car mechanically with better ratio of simple to performance, parts availability etc. YMMV
  21. Thought I should clear the air a bit... I'm the original buyer that @gjm and @Olaf have alluded to. I have taken legal advice and am considering legal action. I'd prefer not to discuss the details on an open forum at this stage. Any advice directed at me please PM me. Feel free to continue expressing your want to live vicariously through a project thread though.
  22. I’m visiting my lawyer this morning, so I’ll ask him what he feels an appropriate course of action would be in this situation.
  23. @wongle sure are. Flick me a PM if you’re keen
