    E39 530i for $15k !

What looks to be a lovely example of a 530 which is no doubt a great great car, wanting offers around $15k though is dreaming. 134ks is ok but not earth shattering. I would think 8 or 9k would top out, end of the day they can ask and good luck to them, but pass https://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/used-cars/bmw/auction-1639241048.htm

Haha, passenger seat already has the occupancy sensor disconnected. But just scanned it and there was a error code around bulb issue under the srs? However cleared and gone so we shall see how it goes

Today is a good day. Travelled down to see Dave and take ownership of his very special E38. 1 of only 113 RHD facelifts made, with 24 being individuals. car is really in great shape and Dave has completed lots of work to get it from where it was to a reliable runner. in saying that a few battery issues on start up LOL but that looks more like a faulty new battery. Trip back to Auckland now, having a lot of fun for the first few hundred kms. Promised to Dave to keep it stock and if the time ever comes give him first right of refusal to repurchase. Now to carry on the journey and tidy up the bodywork issues. New front bumper required, doesn’t look worth recovering. basic paint tidy up and re-spray in the same colour. (Looking for good spot in Auckland for this guys) Sympathetic upgrade of the radio and music space. interior colour touch up of the blue to restore new door card for the drivers door, don’t think that’s recoverable either but we’ll see. God I love these cars and this one tops it off. Did I say today was a good day? picture taken half way home at Taumarunui last night (sad looking Audi next to it keeps sneaking in for the pictures... in for nose correction next week by the way, thanks to a rather high bump stop)

Still looking great today, colour match is great. Amazing how new the whole cabin is feeling. Drove up the drive tonight though and a random airbag light has come on scanner out time

Yip, had to get Navy from Mister Mint but same stuff. I have some great Black colourette I used on the Audi and Sport which was even better.
  7. Welcome, I have the same issue on my E38 sport but was able to get it to resync. There was a PDF tutorial somewhere on the web, can’t remember the sequencing but it worked. Might have been on E38.org or meeknet.com

After much trial and plenty of error with getting the colour match for the blue interior right to ensure the leather is nicely restored and all the scuffs and wear removed, simple answer has been Kiwi liquid polish in Navy. $12. Ive now been able to make the interior look as good as new but it’s getting to dark for pics so will shoot some tomorrow. Sometimes it’s the easy answers that are the best. will see how it lasts but initial impressions are very good. Now how to get Navy polish off fingers .....

    1990s european touring car anyone?

Love these, bring back the BTCC in full flight
  11. Not a bad thing at all. The F10 is a big car, made the 38 feel small 😂
  12. I thought Welly was the home of the 5?
  13. Nah that’s what they are going for, V8s in these have bad rep, specially the early ones. 535i probably a better plan. Drove one, goes like a cut cat though .

Had three updates for the USB app as well so any issues may have been picked up in those, as I run a live hotspot on my phone for traffic updates, it auto updates as necessary

My DSP amp is a bit dodgy, prior to getting the unit I had no sound at all so against stock DSP. Hard to confirm. Installing the unit I was, maybe still will, going to get another replacement Amp. But since installing the trigger to start the Amp can come from just selecting the DSP screen. So it runs for 30secs and goes off (like it used to) then I select the DSP settings in the App and presto it’s back on and stays on. Pain if you’ve got short journeys, but I’m stuck in Auckland traffic so nothings short. If you crank the dsp amp volume up to the top you do get some static when the lights are on, I know weird, hard to tell if that’s my amp or not, but then you can only turn the unit up to about 4 out of 25. Running the DSP at around 60 I have no static and the quality to my deaf and damaged ears sounds great, particularly on USB direct. Replacing the subwoofer speakers was clearly necessary and it’s way better then my stock non DSP E38. Probably as good sound if not better stage as the new Ford Falcon I had, which was the upgraded unit and system. not as good as the S8 though, that’s B&O and bloody awesome.

Some pics of the headunit and the OBC features. Found very handy and it’s made the car feel very current. My 2006 S8 is feeling very dated now lol

Got replacement genuine speakers from Brent at BMWorld, $20each and in excellent condition. Perfect fit and sound is spot on. I heard it was tricky getting speakers sorted as well so getting off Brent was a perfect solution.
