  1. Mine is pre-LCI, 2006 March or April from memory
  2. Looks like it got knocked off coming down my parent's 1/2 km gravel drive, re-seated in hangers to correct its alignment. Cheers Andy for picking it up.
  3. Interesting, I never new Satnav was a proprietary term I just assumed it meant satellite navigation and hence was short for GPS-based navigation. I had some time today so pulled the Alpine unit out and interrogated the HDD which is in 3 partitions and appears to have maps on the first, a FSC code on the second and 1Gb of free space on the third. If anyone is interested I can post the directory structures, as if the map files could be replaced with another regions in theory the unit should work outside of Japan. Given the unit was only available in Japan this may just be wishful thinking though... unless the Alpine unit was used by other car manufacturers in other countries?
  4. Turns out the CAPPL module had been altered to set the Nav type to navi_sv, when it was switched back to navi_jp I get the nav interface and japanese maps. I assume the interface and functionality on the euro / RoW nav is similar?
  5. I realise from all the other posts I will need to replace and recode my CCC unit for a Euro-spec one if I want to have factory Satnav in NZ, however I thought I'd muck around with the unit first. Interestingly although I cannot enter the CCC navigation menu - I'm assuming because there is no BMW DVD in the drive? - I still get told I am approaching crash zones or railway crossings. So if anyone has a factory Japan DVD from a BMW professional CCC satnav they don't need send me a PM as I'm intrigued where in Japan I am! Also I want to see what the Satnav interface looks like before I invest in going that way over a portable unit. Cheers
  6. I needed to change the battery on my E87, given I needed to register the battery via coding I also implemented a few other coding changes including: adding instantaneous digital speed read out v = xx km/h adding comfort close of windows, mirrors and sunroof by pressing keyfob lock adding auto key eject when turning off engine with stop button changing wipers to complete full cycle after power off I also picked up on a thread that suggests on a manual transmission the efficient dynamics shift selection can be added, coding as per the instructions gives me the up down arrows but no shift suggestion as per some others comments. Has anyone else tried this, got it working? Or have it already on their E8x or E9x? Can anyone recommend other useful coding changes to implement?
  7. Haven't got around to giving it a wash but here is a pic of the 130i
  8. The vader seats are somewhat of a personal preference imo compared with the standard m sport seats, but agree it really didn't make sense for it not to get the front lip of the coupes. On the flip side it got a better looking steering wheel imo than the coupes. Pics of the 130i to come later in the week...
  9. Agreed the tips should be sitting inline with the trim, will take a look at what is going on with the hangers.
  10. It was a difficult decision but after over 10 years with the joy of driving an M3 it was time to move on. My search for a worthy 4 door straight six replacement at a sensible price point resulted in much head scratching and started by checking out M sport 335i's, but I kept coming back to wanting a manual. In the end I have ended up with a 130i although the 330i and 530i were also on the list. So far I am enjoying the new ride, although very different. The M3 is light and precise whilst the 130i with its shorter gearing gets to the redline quicker. If anyone is interested the M3 is now up for sale due to the lack of a double garage and house projects Will post some pics of the 130i after I give it a wash. http://www.autotrader.co.nz/used-cars-for-sale/bmw-m3/1517833
