  1. I gotta say the road system in Hamilton is pretty good. Still some issues with surfacing in places but the ring system works really well. Also the Huntly portion of the Waikato expressway is excellent. Auckland is just a shocker.
  2. +1 Mag Monster. It often won't get all the dirt off but it's pretty close, and I haven't used anything better, including dragons breathe. Also helps if your wheels are waxed to start with.
  3. Gloss black wheels are the worst colour to keep clean. Gun metal would hide the dirt the best. Change to a ceramic brake pad for less dust.
  4. Mine is the Meguiars Ceramic Wax liquid. From the youtube review I watched the spray and rub in application seems to be the best followed closely by the liquid. Spray on and rinse seemed to be a bit of a dud. For the price ~$50 for Meguiars Ceramic and ~$25 for Autoglym SRP I reckon it's pretty darn good.
  5. Burgers motor works in glen field is good. The director Jamie used to work at JC BMW.
  6. Not BMW but I finally got around to properly cleaning the Maserati. The paint looks and feels so much better now and will be a lot easier to clean. The gold flake really shows up now. This is my current process: 1) Wash car 2) Meguiars spray clay using a Repco Eclipse Texture Glide Pro Detailers Claying Block 3) Wash car 4) Autoglym Super Resin Polish 5) Meguiars Ceramic Wax The above takes a bit of time but the effort is actually quite low. The spray clay does almost as good a job as a clay bar but is much easier and both the Autoglym SRP and Meguiars Ceramic apply and remove very easily. I knocked the above out by hand in about 5 hours. It does make me wonder what the "premium" products provide over what I have used. Shitty photos, but you get the picture seeing the gold at the front going to black at the back.
  7. Recently cleaned and protected the 535i. 1) Meguiars spray clay - This stuff is actually really good. Not quite as good a finish as a real clay bar but for the effort put in I am more than happy with the results. I'd say 90% of a real clay bar. 2) Autoglym Super Resin Polish 3) Meguiars NXT 2.0 And then today I gave it a spray down and then put on a coat of Meguiars Hybrid Ceramic Wax. Will see how that goes. Meguiars NXT 2.0 already comes out real slick but doesn't last too long.
  8. 535i has plenty of torque too. Nothing much wrong with the engine and gearbox it does a great job it's just not exciting. Initially they feel boaty but they are actually well composed and handle well. If you want to go somewhere clinically and with the least fuss possible then the f10/11 is for you. And yes the 135i is much more exciting, although I ended up with an E60 M5 after test driving a 135i.
  9. That 530d is nigh on perfect, great colour combo, although a 535i is just as efficient really. I managed to get 6.2l/100km from Bombay to Hamilton the other day. The 550i touring is also a unique proposition. As an owner of an F11 535i I can tell you it's not a perfect one car. It's great at carting the family and cruising around but it may as well be a German Camry, it's a very dull drive. You definitely need something else in the garage for some excitement.
  10. It's not a wagon, but there's also an Alpina B7 on trademe. Nice car. https://www.trademe.co.nz/a/motors/cars/bmw/listing/2822670296?bof=zhnYhujf
  11. Have just moved to the area so will have to give Firepot a try.
  12. Remember, too much toe and your tyres will blow.
  13. Saw it parked in Gordonton yesterday parked up. Looking nice! Silver with silver wheels is great.
  14. That is pretty nice as well. The interior on these seems to be much nicer in used car photos than in the press stuff. Although I am with M3AN, $70k grand is going to take a big hit in the next 5 years as it's just a BMW wagon. I'm happy to wait til they are $35k or below. $70k is Maserati Ghibli or Quattroporte money to me!
  15. I remember when the E36 M3 came out on the cover of Autocar NZ, and thinking it was a damn fine looking vehicle. Interesting the Integra VTI-R was in the same issue and it looked really good in red, maybe even better than the M3.
  16. Totally off topic I know, but this is one of the coolest wagons I have seen from BMW for some time. https://www.trademe.co.nz/a/motors/cars/bmw/listing/2865656305?bof=PBxGCGeC
  17. That's a nice example, and a reasonable deal. To be honest the light interior isn't too bad. It certainly shows up a few brown marks but mainly on the plastics rather than the leather. Perhaps it would be different if you wore new denim jeans with automotive grease on them? The F10/F11 also feels more like a Mercedes than a BMW to drive I think. They are very big and floaty with light steering. They do go around corners very well, especially with the 4WS, but they don't feel anything like an E87 for example.
  18. Gonna be hanging on to the 535i for some time. What would I upgrade to? It's pretty frugal and nimble for a 2 tonne wagon. 8-11l/100k. The 130i was in better condition, the 535i has a few curb scrapes and the imperial blue brilliant effect paint is a shocker for swirling, worse than black.
  19. One should definitely expect this of a BMW.
  20. Yep I found them to be a great car to drive apart from the tight space (bigger than an E87 though). In the end I bought an E60 M5 instead, which might hint that the 135i just wasn't special enough. A 135i would be a totally sensible purchase, 4 out of 5 from me.
  21. They're just doing what they and their tuners support. They could wrangle a S65 in but who would figure out where the wires go? I imagine it would be much tougher in AU to find a BMW guru to integrate a BMW engine in.
  22. Yep, the Maserati box is better at everything except parking and cost of maintenance. Just dont reverse up a hill.
  23. Maserati can go for the right price. I need to do the clutch first though and I doubt I will see change from 10 grand for that. :s.
  24. I have come to the conclusion the best cars to buy are the ones I am selling.
