  1. Note that if you get the CCV kit from FCP EUro, these come with too.
  2. Agreed. Time consuming, but not hard. I was an even greater novice when I did it too... Lots of videos online on how to do it, 50s kid has a good video on this, as does Nathan's DIY Garage, and Shop Life also has a good one. Spend a few hours watching videos, take lots of pictures as you go, get a few boxes to group parts together in and you should be good. EDIT: In addition to the hoses and the CCV, if you're taking out the intake manifold and it's been awhile... consider getting new gaskets for the manifold, and get the full CCV kit that includes the throttle body gasket too. If your oil filter housing leaks, this is a good time to replace that gasket too...
  3. I'm sorry, but have you considered selling the boat? You'd have so many more car options then...
  4. I'd like to think it'll get the buy now price.
  5. I had nearly this exact same problem description. It was a vacuum leak. There was a good crack on my valve cover. Highly recommend you find someone with a smoke machine. I spent months with the problem, then a mate found the crack (it was a large crack...) in 5 minutes.
  6. Oh man, I totally would. The electric is amazing. It's a bit out of our price range until we pay off the mortgage though.
  7. Tucson GLS 4WD 2006 or Santa Fe GL 4WD 2004. We suddenly find ourselves needing to drive up a dirt road once a week and the E39 can't make it around the bumps and dirt, and the Leaf is here to stay and itself isn't exactly off-road capable.
  8. Har. PM me the VIN, and a picture of the key, and I can tell you what key to get. Keys from ebay are easy and cheap. They mostly all work the same, you want to make sure you buy the right blade. Mostly the keys around are dual frequency, so that's easy enough. I haven't been following the forums here much lately. We're actually discussing selling the E39 and buying a Hyundai right now.
  9. Hi Brent, when I needed one, I ended up on ebay. It cost $30 shipped from... Latvia?
  10. PM me your VIN and I can link the right key for you.

    Quick rant thread.

Imagine the bonus returns! The speed camera gets you for speed, and for having the German plates on!
  12. Check realOEM. The ones I linked in the other thread are for my 530i. In any case, you just need to do trial and error. Sold by and fulfilled by Amazon is what you want. Play around till you find free shipping rotors that fit your car.
  13. Yes there are. I just checked. Follow the instructions on the first post. It won't show the free shipping till the end. The rotors I linked show as free shipping for me.
  14. That's true. Even when you get the disputes tribunal involved, in all likelihood, the best outcome will be to actually get your money refunded. I haven't seen the application of punitive fines in cases like this.
  15. It's all cost-benefit. They do nothing, and most cars don't come back. The few that come back, they give them a run around, and 'offer' to pay their MBI excess. It's a good gig, and probably costs them a lot less than it would cost them to have every car actually checked, and repaired, as needed. Worse case, they take the car back, refund the money, and sell the car again to the next sucker who comes along, without having done anything to the car, if they can get away with it.
  16. He is up here, near me. It's not a long drive. If you PM me, I can link you with him.
  17. A very good friend of mine specializes in rust repair and recertification. I can put you in touch if you'd like.
  18. Gorgeous car, but ... Oh the maintenance bills...

    Quick rant thread.

I hate that so much. I usually reply with, "What's your best offer?"
  20. Try this guy? https://www.bunnings.co.nz/de-solv-it-125ml-multi-purpose-cleaner-spray_p00172055
  21. That's literally the same situation I am in, actually. I'll give them a call.
  22. How do they determine daily, versus non-daily driven? My 530i has seen ~6k km in the last 18 months... I wonder how much cheaper than Tower Swann might be.
