So quick update i swapped the shift linkage with modz here but it was to short ive now installed the 220 getrag linkage in and the car starts and drives fine Why does it need shortening is it so it lines up with the transmission hole or another reason

Hay guys ive just done a manual swap on my e46 330ci 2000 with a 220 getrag and i need to shorten the shift linkage but cant find out how much it needs to be shortened by any help would be great thanks
