What's gone into the engine build? And what power are you expecting out of it?

    M50 Iron block

    M52B28 crank

    Forged rods

    Forged pistons 8.8:1 CR

ARP head studs, rod bolts etc.

    Cooper ring HG

    Valve springs etc upgraded

Few other bits and pieces but thats the basics of it. Power, well that will be decided by the size of the turbo and injectors which is currently a HX35 and 660cc/min. Which Ill probably run for a bit as the downpipe and everything is already made to suit. I'll upgrade it later once I have to the time or patience to make a new down pipe for a bigger turbo. So in saying that I am probably limited to about 550hp for now or so.

No real power goals in mind though, it'll make what it makes and no doubt it will see a few more changes on the way.

  2. Things are getting exciting again. Plan is to reverse some of the things I did when it was a dedicated track car and to get it back on the road.

    1. Found all the old pics on an old HDD so I can fix the thread of broken images and tidy it up.

    2. Lots of changes havent really kept up to date with.

    3. New engine almost ready.

Tough times around the world. At least we have our health. Most Wellington CBD workers seem to have flexible working options since COVID, so like me are spending their lunch money elsewhere 2-3 days a week.

Part of this has to come down to promotion. Being in the BMW scene for around 15 years, I've not come across MillAnd. If I had stumbled upon their website, I would probably not bother as it appears to lack the ability to see their stock and therefore compare prices. Then again, the owner might have just retired or there may be other reasons non-financial for the closure.

I brought a bit from him over the years, all over phone and email. Good service and prices, shipped over night with most things in stock.

All dissapearing slowly one by one sadly. Be a shame to have to order from over seas.

Used Car Dealer… say no more!!

Hmm, dunno about that. I don’t think ALL E30s has the black lower sections ex-factory. I’m 99% sure my vert didn’t, looks like it was body colour over the stone chip / underwear.

I recall it being an option to have the lower sections painted body colour etc.

Black lower sections are povo spec.

To be honest... I am 56 so skids arent that big a deal :)building this car is one of those bucket list things. That said, every now and then particularly in the wet I like to let the rear hang out. Wavetrack make an really good (so I've heard) helical LSD I think better than the clutch type particularly for the occasional track day. I'll leave it at this for now, the lash is still annoying but its doesnt sounds like there's a easy fix without pulling the diff and adjusting the pinion/ring gear.

Helical not much help if you get a wheel in the air is the only thing.

  6. Ms4x.net

    A supported odb2 usb cable

    Download ms4x flasher.

Download rom raider + suitable definitions

Check your dme software version, if it's supported carry on otherwise flash it with supported version

Download partial read from dme with ms4x flasher

Open it with romraider, find the setting for rev limiter with missing vss. Set it higher or at where you want your limiter to be. Save file.

Flash edited file back with ms4x flasher.

actually, the center console worth a bit. will be either base model 318i sedan with power windows in the front only, or from a coupe which not many being wrecked any more. and yes they do break, usually the same time as the glovebox and/or the under tray is removed, or people pull the console not knowing about the two clips further back etc. They are also easy to break in storage too, the foam is very weak.

$500 very steep tho, i can do it all cheaper if anyone needs that stuff.

I think I'll be looking for some interior parts.  ( as mentioned above,  lots went in the skip,  now I want to put it back )
