I recall having a similar issue with the flange breaking off. Can't exactly what I did but i think I levered and broke it apart with a stubby screw driver and pick

    RIP - 2019 1 Series

Certainly better at breaking down these days
  3. Mosen euro parts in Hamilton would probably have a pump in the ($50-100 at a guess).
  4. Get someone with mechanical experience to go with you if you take a look.

We all knew it was coming. I mean once you start to make cars like this it's guaranteed really.
  6. Id probably thread longer bolts into the adapter holes with a flat plate etc or something for leverage and then some heat from gas torch Otherwise puller as you said or run a tap into the inside it if possible
  7. https://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/car-parts-accessories/wheels-tyres/alloy-wheels/listing-1702122830.htm?rsqid=85a18fa2c2084686bfbdc8630915f6d0 Not ideal offset but should be fine with 235 tyre. Least they are fairly cheap.
  8. Holden were way behind BMW back then. Carved up so many Holdens with my old E34 on the road and track I've lost count.
  9. Good read. Pelican haven't appeared to suffer the same fate yet.
  10. Probably just another well used Remuera tractor by the looks of things. Maybe the E53 is a more durable car? it wouldn't surprise me Sure it can be done but very unlikely anyone has tampered with the odo
  11. Personally id do the arms\bushings\balljoints first. Subframe bushings can be done later on easy enough and they seem to last on the E38\E39's . New ones would probably yield some result but its more of a somewhat subtle difference in my experience unless they are really bad.
  12. Are you doing the subframe bushings too? FCP are on point with their item prices though esp when things are on sale (seems to be often) and shipping prices. Rarely use Pelican these days with their near 2x the price of FCP shipping the same stuff with the same carrier.
  13. Good point. My brother just got back from there.
  14. If it was an actual a timing chain guide that''s bad luck. Must of been making a racket and\or didnt replace the tensioner in time. I see my fellow E34 enthusiast has bid on it haha.
  15. Yeah i used to get 15" Turanzas years ago off a guy here in Hamilton for $80 each, they were off ex police Holdens but still had like 5mm threads. Think it was the now Auto 66 guy. Sold a set of 66's for $350 years ago with a bit of curbing. Id pay around 500-600 for a set good set with none\minimal curbing. Many times ive ended up buying entire cars to get the wheels then selling them off with another set, more likely to get a 5 wheels as well Usually a good selection E39 17x8 stuff around, sometimes its just not advertised or just not around when you want it. Besides the square setup benefits you can get Michellin PS4's 235\45R17 for under $250 a tyre, they are far better than the Bridgestones.
  16. I got some E34 throwing stars but probably a bit much
  17. @Olaf may have some info but these cars are cheap for a reason.
  18. Sending it back where it came from would be excellent
  19. Should of kept the E34
  20. Need some new E39 rear rotors so ive ordered. See what happens. Cheers
  21. E34 steering sure lacks on center but its actually quite decent for a box once you start turning, more feedback thru the wheel than the E39 box.
  22. My old 535is is the only BMW i wish i didn't have to sell. Whats worse is it was degred a few mths later ( the young guy probably crashed it) Sure to buy one again someday at a hefty premium but ive been stock piling nice parts to go on it.
  23. Can you pinpoint the noise? Ear against a long screw driver would work. Sounds like the lifters but other things like drive pulleys\tensioners, DISA valves etc can get noisy. Do you know when the was oil was last changed and what grade? Sounds like you have a possible vacuum leak with the bad idle which would be the first thing to check when you take it in.
