  2. Hi Car: E46 323Ci, manual, 160,000 km Problem: When changing gears, especially 1st to 2nd, the rev's hang at around 1,800 rpm for about a second then drop as they should. Work already done: replaced ICV and cleaned the throttle body Any suggestions on what to look at next? Regrads Murray
  3. Hi All, New to the Bimmer forum thought id give it ago, proud owner of a 2005 e46 M3 (SMG). Have owned for about 3 years (bought it when I was 19) and have loved every moment! Obsessively maintained to always be looking/running her best but did not come as it currently looks as I thought it could do better and wanted to make it my own. Fortunate enough to have full service history which was important as it’s done more km’s than most. Joined the forum to learn more about BMW’s and see/learn what others out there have done to there’s to make them better and possibly go along to some meets as iv never been to one. Future plans include CSL air intake ect, agency power headers, mid pipes. GTR vented bonnet on its way from overseas. Carbon fibre going to be pained car colour with vented grills left black.
  4. Question for those that have retro fitted Multi function wheels to their cars, or have these steering wheels and have fitted after market head unit. Have you successfully been able to control volume on the after market unit with the buttons on the steering wheel?

  7. TSW Valencia Wheels + Falken Tyres Fronts are 18x8 ET32 with 225/40/18. Rears are 18x9.5 ET40 with 255/35/18. Tyres are Falken ZE912 with 5mm tread all around. Fitment is perfect on an E46. Fills out the guards nicely. Should also fit E36/E90/E92's also. $950. Pick up Auckland.
  8. After a set of wheels for an E46 MSport Touring - preferably OEM i.e Style 68's (factory E46 MSport wheels), or other MSport styles considered such as Style 135's/193's/194's etc. Will also consider reputable aftermarket brand wheels too. The OEM wheels don't necessarily have to be from the E46 chassis line; just something that looks the part and are in good condition.
  9. I originally missed out on buying this Touring when it came up for sale in October (and settled for this instead). It sold within a couple of hours of it being listed on Trademe to a friend of the seller, despite the seller promising me the car was mine after I had negotiated to buy it sight unseen... To my surprise it came back up for sale on Trademe just before Christmas. Once again I pounced, and this time I was successful in acquiring it. So, the car: NZ New E46 330i Motorsport Touring (1 of 4 NZ New examples so I am told). Sapphire Black. 207km. Facelift. Leather electric seats. No mods other than the TSW Valencia wheels (great fitment but not my taste...will be changed in due course). The seller had mentioned that the shocks were due for replacement, and this was confirmed on the first Auckland to Coromandel drive over the new year break. Compared to my lower km E46 325i MSport, the car lacked dampening and felt considerably harsher (partially due to the 18" wheel/tyre combination). A set of adjustable Koni Sport shocks have been ordered to tighten things up and provide rebound adjustability if and when so desired. After that, a set of Style 68's or other OEM BMW wheels will replace the TSW's. Cosmetically the car is in great condition given the mileage. I have started a deep leather clean and condition on the interior (Pears soap method) which is lifting an unbelievable amount of grime from the leather. A time consuming process, but ultimately worth it!

    E46 Tow Bar

Hi Looking for a tow bar with mounting hardware and trailer plug wiring kit to fit a E46 323i sedan. Car has the standard (full size) spare wheel well. To be shipped to Timaru. Regards Murray
  11. Hello! My name is Saulo, I had moved from Brazil to Auckland almost two years ago, and in this great land, I bought my first BMW. It is a 318i (1999, E46). Really love my ride, but like all 20-years old cars, it needs some care often. That's why I've joined this forum!
  12. Drove my e46 to work today.... It's still at work.... Turns over beautifully, but won't start. Disconnected battery for 1 minute Tried in P, N, foot on brake, foot on gas (and both/none) RPM gauge above 0 (though below 500) Temp gauge slightly above coldest despite sitting all day It did make a strange whirring noise that increased with RPM in the last few minutes of my drive (sounded like a turbine. Fan clutch is new) I may have ever so gently kissed the car park ramp with the under carriage (low cars...) Radio works Never had any issues starting in the past Can't get to the CPS to check it I should probably pull a plug to check for spark and fuel Key is fairly new
  13. I'm not sure where to begin, other than "M POWA".... https://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/used-cars/bmw/auction-1469139554.htm
  14. I don't mean the vin number on the left hand side of the engine bay, but on the right hand side of an e46 engine bay there is also an engraved number. Mine is 89456766. I need to know as I'm prepping my engine bay for paint.

    E46 PARTS

Have a e46 m sport touring face lift and was wondering if anyone had some parts that i'm after - fog lights - inductors - wing mirrors - bonnet (silver) - black trimming on the front bumper
  16. In a moment of weakness we bought a set of these BBS RG-R wheels off a bloke in Osaka. Being on a budget we shipped them down on the slow boat and they arrived a couple of weeks ago. It took too long for us and we have moved the car on for which they were intended SPECS 18x8.5 ET 38 18x10 ET 25 Centre Bore : 72.6 Stud Pattern 5x120 BMW The RG-R rim is renowned for the forged construction and the relative lightness of the wheel less than 10kg as I recall. Plus of course just a handsome wheel. Colour silver with BBS centre caps. We have refurbed them as there were a couple of marks on two rims . So they a minty set of rims in Christchurch. Still in the boxes they arrived in. FOR SALE $2200.FOB and can deliver to MainFreight although they are more courier sized. Queries PM me, thanks for reading.
  17. The colour combo I never knew I wanted. Pity I already have one and this doesn't have upgraded suspension. Still a very nice looking E46 though. https://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/used-cars/bmw/auction-1415009858.htm
  18. Hi there, I have an E46 and the sound system has an issue. It will play the radio just fine for about 30 minutes, but then the front and rear woofers cut out all at once, and then not long after, the rest of the speakers all cut out too. I got home and left the car off for about half an hour, and the sound all came back. Has anyone else had this issue? Is it likely to be the amplifier chips overheating or something? If so, where is the best place to get a replacement? Thanks.
  19. Due to a slight mistake, I have two brand new M54 valve covers from FCP Euro that are surplus to requirements. If anyone is keen, hey have a lifetime warranty from FCP Euro, but that applies to me only. I'd be happy to extend it to any buyer in this forum as well. I commit to working as the in-between between buyer and FCP Euro. These are them https://www.fcpeuro.com/products/bmw-valve-cover-e46-e39-genuine-bmw-11121432928 Say $400 each, which is a well below cost.
  20. Hoping theres a set of Apex wheels second hand out there somewhere, 17 or 18 inch, wider the better. Will be going on an E46 330ci cheers
  21. Hi, Bought a 2000 328ci today. A modest start but the fulfilment of a lifelong dream to own one of these beautiful cars. Drove it home from Auckland this afternoon, which was an absolute pleasure. I'm the 5th owner, its done 113kms and is topaz blue with black leather. NZ new. As far as I can tell the core mechanicals are sound but some of the peripherals, bodywork and interior need a bit of TLC. Nothing too major I hope. Looking forward to engaging with the forum and learning about E46s and BMWs in general. The aim is to gradually bring it back to above average condition and just enjoy the sheer pleasure of driving it. Cheers, Guy
  22. Hi Team, looking for the best place to buy preferably new MSport/Clear LED (where applicable) lights for my 2002 330CI. Would Schmiedmann be my best bet, or does someone happen to have some hiding away? I'd prefer new because my current boot tail lights are falling apart... NB: I have clear indicators already, I just need to fit them.

    e46 v8 wagon

    So after my grief with the N46 in my 318i I decided to turn it into a project car. The car is a 2004 318i auto msport wagon with 130,xxx kms. It will be getting a m62b44 non vanos v8 m62b46 v8 with a m122 supercharger It will be mated to a 420g 6 speed manual, and a m3 rear end. I'll also be upgrading suspension and brakes, and setting the car up for flex fuel to run e85. Cosmetically it will get some upgrades, but nothing too over the top. The goals for this project are; #Do as much myself as possible. #No compromises except on budget. #Make something unique. #Learn as much as I can in the process. So lets get started - heres the car; First job was to completely strip the exterior of the car. Everything came out, engine, trans, suspension, subframes, fuel tank, even the fuel lines and brake lines. Up on stands and ready to do some work With everything out I set to work cleaning the underbody. This took ages because I'm a perfectionist. I used degreaser and a waterblaster, and eventually degreaser with a rag to get the real stubborn areas. There was no damage to the underbody but because I'm increasing the power output I wanted to strengthen it. I made strengthening plates out of 2mm steel. A huge thank you to forum member @Karter16 who posted me paper templates to make them from. I bought myself a cheap gasless mig welder and taught myself to weld. This enabled me to make plates like the one below. There are 6 plates in total, 2 for the front subframe mounts, 2 for the rear subframe mounts, and two which are like spacers. Welding is really difficult, but I managed to weld in all 4 of the subframe plates. First I used a grinder with a flap disc and a drill with a wire brush, to get the places to be strengthened back to bare metal, then I coated the area with weld through primer. I coated the back of the plates in weld through primer also and then I welded in the plates. Then I used the grinder to grind the welds back. I then coated the bare metal with crc rust converter primer to protect it - I really like this product. https://www.crc.co.nz/Rust-Converter/6895-2548b7ca-2a00-4114-b2e1-17eb0e6a576b/ Then I used a Vht top coat, followed by seam sealer, and finally Septone stone shield rubberised coating. I coated the whole cleaned underbody in Septone stone shield. Its black, but looks green in the photo for some reason. The side skirts were removed to clean and paint behind and then reinstalled with new clips from Schmiedmann. The inner arches were cleaned and painted, and the cleaned plastic pieces were reinstalled. The cleaning process takes ages. Inner arches before cleaning and painting; And after; While all this was going on I was accumulating parts. All suspension and brake parts I sandblasted in my mates sandblaster. This took many days, and would have been more cost effective paying a professional, but I want to do as much myself as possible. Then they were expertly powdercoated by forum member @aja540i who really does a nice job. Here is a pic of the before and after the sandblasting; And a pic of the same part powdercoated and assembled;

  25. http://www.trademe.co.nz/a.aspx?id=1386917501 $12K 152KMs Looks tidy Sports suspension and DSC RED LEATHER WITH WOOD TRIM If you want to be different and you can't stand boring - then this might be a good option. I can't decide if I like this or not. I think I do but it would need a carbon wrap for the trim. What do you guys think? Bring on the opinions!
