My rebuilt 5HP24 in my 2001 E53 4.4i now slips in 3rd and 4th (after 5 years/25000KMs 😕) and maybe it is a better idea to chuck another used one in rather than dropping $$$$ fixing this one again...

So I have a 2001 X5 E53 with a nav radio and want to install an aux cord. The videos I have watched explaining how to do It have a 3 pin plug behind the monitor that you use for the cord. When I took out my radio it doesn't have any extra plugs or cables behind it. Can anyone help me out? Is it at the back with the 6 disk changer?

Anyone know the reason as to why my side mirror doesn’t perform the auto tilt? My mirror adjustment functions work perfectly on both sides (up, down, left & right) Also the mirror folding doesn’t seem to be working. Another thing is the steering wheel adjuster doesn’t work but I’ve read from several sources that it’s to do with the memory seat control module? My electronic seat functions work perfectly (heating & lumbar included) however memory function seems to have failed…?

Hey guys, just recently purchased an E53 4.6is in Estoril blue over black nappa leather with Titan shadow trim! Have been looking for something bigger to roam around in especially for trips in summer & the mountains in winter. 2nd car I’ve purchased so hopefully i’ve made the right choice but I’m loving it so far. Wanted something unique and somewhat special, after doing a bit of research it seems the 4.6is’ in Estoril blue & Imola Red are the ones to get. It’s NZ new, comes with most of the service history from previous owner as he owned it for the last 10 years. Has all the original booklets, owners manual, handbooks etc & 2 keys! Has done around 180,000km’s with 2 previous owners (so the previous owner says) Have yet to go in to get it checked up but will be doing so sometime next week along with a new WOF. From what I’ve seen in the service history most of the big jobs have been done including a full replacement of the cooling system, timing chains, gaskets etc. Nothing has been noted in regards to transmission besides the usual service but it changes gears smoothly (up & down) without any jerking. Overall body condition is decent for an almost 20 year old car. Minor spots of rust due to paint chips, few scuffs on both sides of the front bumper, headlights are a little foggy & the tailgate won’t close! It seems the spring inside the mechanism has come loose & won’t latch on so I’m constantly hit with the “bootlid open” code & the interior lights on in the boot. (Turns off after 10mins or so) will be getting it sorted ASAP cause I don’t want it to drain my battery. Will keep you all updated as I get this beast up to looking factory fresh again! Looking forward to hearing any advice from people who are in more knowledge than me (so basically everyone lol). Gonna put a to do list when I’ve figured out where the cars at mechanically! Hello! I have a 2003 e53 X5 and want to replace the stock stereo with a new CarPlay compatible head unit. Looking at units between $700-900. The current unit also shows the backup camera so hopefully a new unit will work with the stock camera. Does anyone have any recommendations for what I should buy? Cheers!

Hi peeps My X5 is back in the shop again - got the brake light trifecta again. This is round 3(!) after previously having the ABS control unit repaired and then replaced after it failed again. But this time, after reversing out of a parking space and then moving off at low speed i noticed a juddering from the rear of the vehicle and resistance. Pulled over and turned it off, and then got off the main road. Was OK on the short drive home. Did it again then next time i did a short trip to the supermarket, but this time the brake system lights all activated and the judder stopped Nursed it in at low speed to Driscoll Motors this morning for them to look at. The bit of reading I've done points to this maybe being ABS Master Cylinder rear release valve sticking ? Ideas? Anyone had this issue before? -

Hi all - has anyone hit a problem with an electric seat reclining by itself randomly, which in turn triggers the alarm's motion sensor? Happens to be the driver's one. Any advice appreciated!

Hopped in the X5 this morning and when helping my youngest lad get in noticed that the left rear mat was wet. Lifted it out and noticed the floor was sodden. Checked the other side and same thing! The X5 had been parked outside during the massive amounts of rain we've had... looks like this issue: http://www.xoutpost.com/bmw-sav-forums/x5-e53-forum/61235-wet-floor-not-drainage-block-fixed.html Taking it back in again to get it sorted. Oh well...

Just had a rear passenger window stop working on my X5 - youngest son put the window down all the way and heard a clunk :\ Can hear the motor going so sounds like it is a regulator issue. At least it wasn't raining!!!

Cheap, big and grunty - but do remember the 17l/100km for urban

Don't expect many of these to be lying around . . . but just in case! This isn't the parcel shelf - it is the vertical net to stop stuff flying into the cabin if you fill the hatch up
