  1. Wanting to manual convert my 98 e36. Trying to find the cheapest way to do so, don't mind doing the conversion myself but will pay labour if it's not much more. Dunno where to start, cant seem to find many parts or kits. Anyone have an idea on the rough price and what I need? Cheers
  2. Who remembers this car? I'm sure a lot of you watched Australian Touring Car Racing back in the day, this was my favourite BMW in the Group A days. It was only a little 323i but showed the others a run for their money. BMW Australia owned the car and it was developed by Frank Gardner's JPS Team, the car being in BMW Motorsport colours because the JPS Team didn't want to sponsor a vehicle that was essentially a development car for the Group A scene Here it is in action at Amaroo Park, a track it performed extremely well around
  3. Would a X pipe work on my BMW 323i 2005 Msport V6 ? Anyone tried that before?
  4. This might not so much be a question of legality, but if one had a m52b28 engine in a m52b25 body how likely is this to fail or get picked up on a general WoF check? My understanding is that, the two engines are almost identical besides the internals and the exhaust. The only give away I can think of would be the engine number, which I'm thinking they might not go to such lengths to check. Cheers.
  5. Hi all, About a 9 months ago I bought a manual '96 e36 323i sunroof sedan in Arctis Grey, and no the sunroof doesn't work properly. Purchased 17x8 and 17x9 staggered style 32 wheels which rubbed quite hard on the rears so I rolled the guards. Spent some time at pick a part - found a couple of good scores like an m50 manifold for about $60 I bought and installed Yellowspeed Adjustable suspension because the wheel gap on the front hurt my eyes The extra stiffness was enough to pop out one of my grills, which was moderately upsetting Replaced them with some black grills, I'm unsure if I'm going to go back to OEM chrome surrounds as I'm generally a purist when it comes to Aesthetic mods so we'll see how much they niggle my conscience. This is the overall look of the car now, fairly happy with it. A couple of months ago I bought a manual '92 e36 325is coupe as a donor and have since stripped out the diff, box, block and other goodies. I am in the process of building this engine for a single vanos +T setup to transplant into the 323i. Here are some flicks of the goings on so far! More to come . . .
  6. Hi Guys, So iv got a fully dressed '87-'88 M20B25 with loom and ecu, gearbox etc all with it lined up. The only problem now is the wiring from the C101 plug which is round and has 20 pins, to my rectangular C101 on the '85 323i. I have started to create a pinout chart which ill upload later tonight, theres just a few wires i am unsure where they should go? There is scarce information about 323i's on the internet, as they were Euro spec and well you know, if its not US spec then no one on any of their forums wants to know about it. I also need a bit of help as to what will go to the C104 plug (i understand this is for the cluster side of things). There is a round connection on the bulkhead by the passenger side, i know this isnt a C101 as i have an earlier car but i was wondering what it actually is. Any wiring help would be much appreciated. Ill upload my chart so far later on. This is the first time iv done anything near this intense mechnically, but thought id try my hand at it. I havent got the engine yet but will have it in a month, so i thought its best to prepare everything now so that its easier when i have everything. The 323i L-Jet wasnt the best starting place but its what i have to work with so ill do my best to make it work. If any of you guys are around Central/West Auckland, and know about the wiring id be real keen to have some help when the engine is dropped in. i HATE electrical systems and having not much experience doesnt really help my cause. Im sure with some help i can get this done successfully, so cheers for any help you can provide me with! Also i know the connector changes around the time this engine was built, so i will check again and confirm. This will probably be the same thread i ask lots of electrical questions over the time of the swap. Thanks!
  7. Hi Guys, I need an ignition coil for my '89 325i. I have one from my '85 323i, but i cross checked the part #'s on RealOEM and they dont match, so i thought its probably best to get the right part for the job. Part # is: 12131286087 if it matters. It can be used, just as long as its working okay. The closer to Blockhouse Bay, Auckland, the better! But dont mind shipping i guess. Cheers!
  8. Hi all, My name's Harry and I drive two E30's. One being a 323i Baur and my other being a 320i SE Coupe.. 323i Baur has been in my family since 2005, was bought completely stock.. so far have added the following. - Full Mtech 1 Kit (minus spoiler) - Black Leather Recaros (Think the fronts are m3) ?? - Z3 Short Shift - Full top end rebuild Can't remember everything off the top of my head.. My 320i Coupe was purchased recently also completely stock and i have had a little fun with it... Im sure many of the users on her won't like what I have done, but each to their own.. Near future I am planning to turbo my 320i unsure of weather to find a m20b25 engine to turbo then put that in, or just stick with the m20b20.. but any advice on this is much appreciated.
  9. Hi guys, so i see that a similar thread to this one was posted a few weeks ago on here but i thought id make my own as i have my own set of problems. The car wont start, which is next to no help for anyone who wants to help me diagnose the problem. So the car used to start occasionally in Neutral only (Auto Trans), and i thought doing it this way would be okay until even that stopped working. When we jump the battery is starts every time but the battery has been tested and it seems fine? When you turn the key you can hear the fuel priming, it just wont turn the engine over. As i said i have had the battery tested and have been told its fine, however when i jump it the car starts perfectly. And because iv been told the battery is fine i dont really want to spoend money on a new battery if the problem lays elsewhere. Could it be the starter? I have no clue, but i have been told (admittedly the person who told me that literally just had a glance) it could be the starter. This is the ONLY thing holding the car back from being my daily, i have put in a lot of work over the last few weeks these holidays getting it all nice. Once the car can start everytime no problem, itll be on the road and i cannot wait for that! Thanks for any help you guys can give me, it is much appreciated!
  10. Hi, I'm fixing some rust in my e21 and am looking for a donor car in the South Island, preferably Christchurch. Needs to be rust-free around the rear 1/4 windows, or at least tidy. A good bonnet, boot and doors would be a bonus. Thanks.
  11. Hi guys, So i'v been searching all over and found that in order to stroke the M20B23 engine, i will need to change the fuel system from the earlier L-Jetronic to the later Motronic system. Is this correct? And if so, has anyone done this and can provide pointers on how to go about this? Any information would be appreciated Cheers in advance!
