  2. Front and rear full electric buffalo leather seats out of an e23. I have had these in storage since 2019 after purchasing for a project but never installed. There are mixed posts online about these fitting e28s as well, with a bit of adjustment, but don't hold me to that. Electrics All seats are electric - including the rear (forwards and back motion). One motor in the driver's seat is not working - appears to be shorting out or ceased (e.g., it is drawing current, not moving) The seat raising motor in the driver's seat is working but no movement. Can hear the cable clattering a bit - so, suspect the issue is in the cable drive. ALL other motors and drive cables work on all seats. Note, I have only tested the motors directly - not the control box with microswitches. Switches for the rear seats are in the centre seat (pictured), behind your knees if you were sitting on the seat as opposed to in the pull down rear centre console. Door Cards Three of the four door cards are in the condition you might expect for their age. The last door card is bent out of shape. Seats These have been stored inside and periodically cleaned and conditioned. There are many posts online about restoring these back to their old glory - either with a fair bit of hard work and/or by dying the leather. Both rear backrests have tears in the stitching as pictured. The undersides of all seats are pictured, showing rust on the mounts - not surprising given the common water leaks in the e23. Not sure what happened with the plug surrounds from the drivers seat, but easy enough to replace. Seats are otherwise surprisingly comfortable for their age! Pictures Have chucked these into a few Google photo albums: Driver seat: https://photos.app.goo.gl/6BvAwppszUZ6muDY6 Front passenger seat: https://photos.app.goo.gl/hWWS979M17eZGJxE8 Rear seats: https://photos.app.goo.gl/Jvsy97bBq2RwVCAr6 Door cards: https://photos.app.goo.gl/CcftBDnQQhEeFFu47 Price These are getting harder and harder to find in a usable and working condition, but I appreciate there's a bit of work needed to get these up to scratch (depending on your definition of up to scratch!). I no longer have a vehicle for these and need their storage space* back, so all things considered I think a reasonable ask for everything is ~$600. * the partner wants the spare room back ...
  3. How many e28 m535i in new zealand ? Interested to buy one Would be nice to find e28 m5 but I'm sure I will be looking for another lifetime
  4. Hi e28 fanatics So I am attempting to remove the 325psi crank nut to replace the timing chain and guides etc on an M30. Engine is on a stand so yeah, great fun. I have locked the flywheel up with a chain and given the breaker bar + longest tube sitting around the garage a go but it is not moving at all. So I turned to google for options (Last time I removed one I could not remember it being this difficult) and what I found was that BMW made a special crank holder tool, which doesn't look to hard to replicate. Has anyone had a go at making this or a similar tool for the job? I am going to give it a try, would anyone be interested in the cad files after I have completed it? Would look to have it water or plasma cut.
  5. Is it wrong that I have a dad wagon, an old Terrano farm hack 4x4, a low mileage STI RA, a POS Lancer in a shipping container and yet I still want another car for when all of those are broken and wife is out in her SUV? One of my uncles worked for BMW in South Africa and had one of these when I was very young, nostalgia is a terrible thing when it comes to cars. Anyway this one has been sitting for a while on TM, in the past 6 months there have been a white and a red M535i that have gone for much stronger money than what this one is asking, wonder why this one is not moving - advertised price is $22k, but the seller has commented they will take $18. Unfortunately I have flatlined the next few months of my finances thanks to the house renovation so it wont be grabbing this one, although I have a pile of Noiseline 13mm GIB that I bought before the prices went through the roof and supply stopped that haven't been used - I could sell that at the scalpers mark up rate and probably come close to the asking price Link to the TM auction: https://www.trademe.co.nz/a/motors/cars/bmw/535/listing/3463793790?bof=aKD140dE

  7. Just got my M54b30 powered e28 on the road, couple of small bits left. One of which is the tachometer. I just need to connect the m54 to e28 harness engine speed wire to Pin 1 of c104, according to instructions. Rhd car, where is c104.. Lot of wiring going on in my glove box!
  8. Hi All, I know this has been discussed before awhile back but i have hit a road block with my turbo manifold and wanted peoples opinion before i go and start spending $$$ So i managed to semi build myself an turbo manifold with individual runners but have run into issues on the collector end as i don't really have space for the wastegate unless i mount it on top of collector (which with my welder blowing a gas bottle, i need a new regulator + gas so that's about 350-400 i can put on that or someone else finishing my exhuast off) So check out pics attached and let me know your thoughts (Note i have a twin scroll turbo) 1. Go back to log style manifold (more space but likely wont support my power numbers i want) 2. Keep as is with bottom mount and have someone finish off the manifold 3. Keep same style but change to top mount (only issue is getting 2.5" outlet into two pipes, which i confirmed will just fit between last runner & firewall and 6/5) 4. Buy this and just get a 50mm flange installed - http://www.ebay.com/itm/BMW-M30-T4-Turbo-Manifold-E30-E32-E34-E28-E24-E23-E9-/131806544376 5. Or go with this guys idea (pictures at top and bottom of page) and make down pipes fit - http://www.r3vlimited.com/board/showthread.php?t=285809 I am personally leaning towards options 3/4/5 but i do like option 5 as i could probably do with materials i currently have and just tac together and get someone to finish off but noticed there is no wastegate (so don't know if space is there) So let me know what you think and if need be we will do a poll and go for it + anyone know any good fabricators in manwatu/welly region as i would prefer local rather than sending the car somewhere else in the country. Note: Topcat , BMWorld and other members have been awesome so far with info and i will be representing bimmersport once this is up and running (dreams)
  9. I have a full e28 M30 manual conversion which will be available in about 4-6 weeks. Included are the following parts: E34 M30B35 Getrag 260/6 gearbox - does not have holes for the e28 sensors, the but the spaces in the casing are there, the holes just need to be drilled. Includes crossmember for mounting and mounts. E28 manual pedal box with master cylinder, bottle, clutch line. Single mass flywheel with almost new clutch. Matching driveshaft for E28 fitment. This is a full manual conversion kit for E28s, if I missed any parts in the list they will be included, or specified otherwise. This setup was in my car and running without issue. One lady owner, never thrashed. $2200 or make me an offer. I may sell parts individually depending on interest and what is offered. This will all be available in about 4-6 weeks time. More detailed photos will come around then if a sale is not confirmed. Pickup from Onehunga. Can post if buyer arranged shipping.
  10. Despite having a decent amount of spares, a good E28 in-tank fuel pump is not something I have. (I do have an E34 one, that *should* work) So I'm looking to upgrade to an OEM+ type solution as that appears to be cheaper than a standard OEM pump. Thoughts on this? https://catuned.com/walbro-fuel-pump-genuine-install-kit Or any other suggestions?
  11. Wanting to buy 885 head, intake manifold, ecu out of m20b25, centre console for e28 manual. Live in tauranga but will travel or pay postage.
  12. Looking for an e28 right front fender. rust free example preferred. in tauranga but will buy anywhere north island
  13. looking for an elusive e28 moonroof, mine is almost rusted through, If there is not one around I'm looking for the regular sunroof internals as I already have the top outer lid but no under frame etc.
  14. I've isolated the source of my disappointment. The rear (aftermarket) muffler on my 525e is, positively depressing. It sounds terrible, doesn't fit perfectly enough for me, rattles and looks less than ideal. This needs fixing. I've taken it off, and it sounds amazing without a rear muffler. However it has the occasional nasty vibration and is according to my phone, too loud. But man it sounds good (even for a lowly eta). So I'd like something that retains the character of a straight pipe, but lowers the volume and returns the touch of class a classic BMW should have. And some nice tips wouldn't go amiss either (got a swanky hartge dual to oval tip I'd like to try). I'm happy to buy individual parts and design/weld/asssemble any pipe work.
  15. I have some long overdue work to do to my trusty daily. It's a manual 525e circa 1987 in citrusblau. Not so worried about external colour matching but the interior is blue, and I'd prefer to avoid doing a wholesale interior change... then again, most of it's coming out so I'd look at it. Mechanicals are mostly all great. I need body and interior parts. Namely: Straight bonnet Rust free sunroof Drivers doorcard A good dash would be awesome but, then I'd quite like it if my hair would grow back too. #hendentures Gear lever mechanism complete. I understand that Z3 ones work? Full carpet set Headlining Tail lights Bonus points: Mesh rims would be a bonus (can't remember the type no.). Bilstein suspension Medium case LSD Drivers lights Bigger brakes that will fit and still allow a range of rims I need to 'panel and paint' the car so the bonus items may not make the budget and are less of a priority If you have a rust free, (or close to it) car with mechanical issues i.e. bad motor/box etc.. that has a nice interior I'd readily look at that. I'm in Dunedin too btw. Hit me up. Cheers, Tom
  16. Renaming this thread as I should probably discuss everything... I need to refresh all of my suspension components. I'm thinking along the lines of OEM+/M5 spec. I'm thinking of purchasing the garagistic adjustable subframe kit to install on my M535i subframe (and then install that in my 525e). Has anyone had any experience with these or similar kits? https://store.garagistic.com/bmw-performance-parts/bmw-5-series-parts/Garagistic-e38-bmw-bushings-parts/Complete-camber-toe-correction-kit
  17. So I bought my first car on the week end, but it needs a bit of work... It's a 1985 Bronzit 525e that is half way through a manual swap, it's got manual windows and sunroof but that just means less things to break (I hope). It's a bit of a mess at the moment, most of the center console is taken apart and there is no gearbox or driveshaft in it. The previous owner has done most of the electronics and put the pedal box in.
  18. So I'm at a bit of an impasse with what to do with my E28s, specifically my M535i. It's an ex-UK car. It's got surface rust in most places, a dent in the sill, wavy floors, cracked seat base and structural rust in the following places: All 4 corners of the sills, including jacking points falling off Foot wells Windscreen surrounds front and rear (including a hole in the roof in the rear wind screen seal mount) Boot seal Spare wheel well Door hinges Rear arches, including where they meet the sill Where the right sill joins the floor Tail light mounts Corners of the boot As far as I see it, I have 5 options Sell both E28s and buy something modern and troublesome, like an M3/5 Spend a lot of money with a panel beater to get it fixed. I'm guessing at least $10k and then some Re-shell it into my 525e Buy another M30 shell (not so keen on this one as most E28s are pretty rusty now) Buy another M535i Option 3, whilst it kinda breaks my heart pulling apart a fairly original 525e, I can do for next to no cost and in fact selling off the lower spec parts would pay for the cert. Plus it's still "my first car" then. (Oh and black plates FTW) A re-shell also allows me to have full creative license without feeling like a heathen. (Pfeba front lip, BBS boot spoiler, Mtech flares, worked M90 with ITBs, whatever else I feel like) Thoughts?

    1985 525e

Time to get realistic about selling my e28. I'll update this as things come to mind. As much as it pains me, I need to sell this, as it doesn't quite fulfill what I want from a daily or a weekend car (IE. jack of all, master of none. Not sensible enough for a daily, not silly enough for a weekender). Also it should be keep original, which again doesn't fit with my OEM+ end goal for my cars. If I had the space I would keep it, but I don't so it needs to find a new loving home. I have several spare parts that I can include via negotiation (I still have another E28), including a spare getrag 260 (needs some attention, won't go into 5th) Asking $7.5k ono (fairly hard to value) Project thread here: Car jam here: https://carjam.co.nz/car/?plate=mo9445 Facts: Fresh WOF and Reg last month Converted to manual with a getrag 260 (started by PO) 162XXXKms Bronzitbeige Metallic Perlbeige interior 3.64 medium case diff rear sway bar (my understanding is 525e's didn't have them factory) Manual sunroof that works NZ New Pros: Low KM, mostly original, quite tidy Classic black plates Incredibly tidy interior for it's age, no rips or tears Hasn't left me stranded (unlike my E46 haha) Central looking works perfectly Cons: Clear coat is a bit sad in places Some scratches and dents, character if you like Rust on bonnet vents, sunroof, some on the doors (these are all "they all do that"), comparatively it's low rust Input shaft bearing (well at least that's my diagnosis) quite loud under load. ICV doesn't really work, I assume it did at one point though Needs the correct thermostat housing for the dash temp gauge plug Work done within the last 2000km: Fuel filter and some fuel line Oil filter Oil change Fresh coolant Air filter Intake elbow Tail light gaskets Transmission mounts Transmission output shaft and selector seals Redline MTL Valve adjustment New spark plugs 1 tyre Front sway bar links Battery Accessory belts (both) Rocker cover gasket (to be installed) Lower rubber shifter boot Clutch fork pivot pin Clutch Slave cylinder Heavy duty clutch Throw out bearing Pilot bearing Resurfaced single mass flywheel Various shifter bushes Ignition switch (brand new, but US model so no fancy indicator park lights, could be modded back in)

Pickup from Panmure or can post for $10 (non rural).
  23. Early '82 E28 medium case 3.45 open diff. Won't work on anything accept 81, 82 spec E28s, so it's useless really. Not even sure why you are looking at it. Good condition, came out of running car. Internals might be useful to E30 guys. $100 or make an offer. Pick up from Onehunga.
  24. E28 tow bar, genuine BMW part. Bolt in, will need holes drilled for bolts but no cutting required. All parts are there including plug for lights. Wires will need to be spliced in. $200. Pick up from Panmure.
